Character mistake: Barney complains about Andy escorting the Apricot Queen around Mayberry many years prior. Barney had hoped to be her escort. He remembers the date, telling Andy it was "June 23, 1952, a Saturday afternoon." June 23, 1952, was a Monday.
Aunt Bee the Crusader - S4-E15
Revealing mistake: Toward the end of the show the rooster, Bo, is drunk. If you look closely you can see the two strings pulling the rooster's neck sideways.
Other mistake: The safety goggles Barney wears is missing both of its lenses. While it's possible that Barney may wear the goggles just for the look, that possibility is negated when Barney states, "Every piece of equipment and wardrobe has a specific function: helmet - anti-crash; goggles - anti-foreign objects in eyes, that is gravel and/or bugs."
My Fair Ernest T. Bass - S4-E17
Revealing mistake: At the start, when Ernest T. throws the rock at Mrs. Wiley's window and it breaks, the area around the hole flutters in the breeze - it's obviously not a glass window used for the stunt.
My Fair Ernest T. Bass - S4-E17
Other mistake: Barney says, "I brought the car to drive you over to Mrs. Wiley's," but later when Andy, Barney, Ernest T., and Ramona leave Mrs. Wiley's we see that they're at the house that's actually next door to Andy - though to hide this fact there's a station wagon in the driveway, and they've removed the trellis beside the door.
My Fair Ernest T. Bass - S4-E17
Character mistake: During the party at Mrs. Wiley's, Ernest Bass' girlfriend is called "Ramona." At the end of the show, Ernest T keeps calling her "Romina".
Continuity mistake: Otis is in the jail and can't sleep. He ask Andy for some water. Andy gets up, unlocks the door and then closes it again (clearly leaving the key in the lock). He comes back a few seconds later and the key is gone and back on the wall. (00:05:05)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the show, Barney and Andy are sitting inside a 1964 Ford patrol car. When they are shown up close inside, you can tell it is not the likeness of the same car. The back glass windows look more like a 1960 model possibly. It is definitely not a 1964.
Revealing mistake: Barney and Mr Weaver scuffle in the dark. When Andy enters the store he turns on the light, but the light switch is still in the off position.
Continuity mistake: At the start, Opie and his friend rush to the front door of the same house to try and sell their products - note the house next door (and the fact that it's three houses down from Andy). The kids then run across the street and have the door slammed in their faces, but then it cuts to the woman next door as she walks to her front door - note the house behind her is that first house Opie went to, even though all the boys just crossed the street a few moments ago.
Visible crew/equipment: At the end, when Barney's talking to all the boys at the courthouse, the camera angle's looking up in Barney's closeups, and the top of the courthouse set is visible right before Barney mentions "intimidation."
Visible crew/equipment: After Barney brings the "Fun Girls" to Andy's house, when Aunt Bee walks into the parlor there are now three black tape marks visible on the carpet - and those marks weren't there when Barney and the women walked in.
Continuity mistake: While Aunt Bee and the party guests are gathered in the parlor, when Gomer hoots like an owl in the shot facing him note Floyd's eyeglasses - black with thick straight temples, but in the shot from behind Gomer and all following shots Floyd's wearing different eyeglasses - lighter color with curved tips.
Visible crew/equipment: Just as the first shot opens of Andy walking down the block we can see the moving reflection of a crew member wearing a short sleeve, button down shirt, who's presumably sitting on the camera dolly as it rolls along keeping pace with Andy.
Other mistake: When Barney, Thelma Lou, Helen, and Andy are in the squad car talking about getting dinner, there's black tape on the chrome trim of the triangular vent window - presumably to prevent the camera/crew's reflections; and the vent window is shut in wide shots, but open in the closeup - also to prevent reflections.
Continuity mistake: While Barney and Thelma Lou are stalling Andy and Helen in the squad car, note the long whip antenna is missing (the empty bracket that always holds the antenna in place is over the rear passenger door) when they drive off to Andy's, but when they pull up to the house the antenna's on properly.
Visible crew/equipment: At the courthouse, while Barney and Thelma Lou are trying to stall for time, in the shots facing Andy and Helen when Andy says, "Steaks, chops, macaroni surprise," we can see the shadow of the boom mic moving around at the top, left side of the screen.
Revealing mistake: When Andy, Barney, Gomer, and the kids are at the campsite in the woods, during the daytime scenes the only shadows that should be seen are the ones being cast by the sun, but there are shadows being cast in different directions due to the set lighting.
Deliberate mistake: Gomer leaves the woods after they were lost and doesn't have anything with them then when they get to the campsite he has the snare that they made.
Continuity mistake: When Andy's talking to Gomer through the window while Gomer's holding the pail, in the shots facing Andy the pail's handle is facing out, but in shots facing Gomer the handle is facing the opposite way.
Answer: In S3 x E11 Convicts-at-Large, there is a character named Big Maude Tyler, who is the leader of three female escaped convicts. Andy listens to the radio as the news announcer says that Big Maude's aliases include Clarice or Annabelle Tyler and also one amusingly named Ralph Henderson.
