Revealing mistake: The woman in the foreground, as the siren is stuck, is carrying a paper grocery sack from "Hollywood Ranch Market" which was located on Vine St and Fountain Ave in Hollywood, Los Angeles. (00:09:35)
Visible crew/equipment: When the squad's siren gets stuck blaring, a crowd gathers around the squad with Andy, Barney and Rogers, and when the crowd disperses we can see at least three chalk T-marks on the ground.
Visible crew/equipment: At the start of the last scene, when Andy and Rogers walk out of the courthouse the reflection of a crew member is visible on the surface of the car, and as Rogers drives away we can see the reflection of the camera dolly on the car, and also the shadow of the boom mic on the ground.
Visible crew/equipment: When Rogers shows Andy the statistical chart and they get a call about the domestic violence, the two chalk marks can are visible on the floor below the bulletin board to its left, which is precisely where both Rogers and Barney have stood at different times during this scene.
Other mistake: Notice the license plate of Rogers' car is "DC 269," which is the same plate number as Andy's squad in a few season 1 episodes such as "Ellie Comes to Town" and "A Feud is a Feud."
Continuity mistake: On the curb outside the courthouse there's a fire hydrant beside the pole, which not only changes its position on the sidewalk in different scenes, but it has also vanished at the end when Rogers drives away, as Barney crosses the street.
Continuity mistake: While the squad's siren switch is stuck in the on position, Barney and Rogers get out of the car to open the hood, and suddenly there's a pencil sticking out of Barney's shirt pocket for Rogers to use to tap the condenser box, to stop the blaring siren.
Visible crew/equipment: When Andy and Barney are in the squad car talking about the crooked stop sign, in both of their closeups we can see the black tape that had been applied to the chrome trim of the squad's windows, presumably to prevent reflections. That tape is gone from the driver's side when they park in front of the courthouse.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the show, Andy notices a wanted poster on the office bulletin board and tells Barney that he had learned from news accounts that the wanted person had been captured. Barney removes the poster and places it in a file cabinet. The next day when Roger reports for duty, he and Barney are looking at the bulletin board and the wanted poster is back up.
Andy and the Woman Speeder - S2-E3
Continuity mistake: At the end, when Andy and Barney are standing beside the woman's car her rear-view mirror has vanished in the closeups, but when she drives off in the long shot the mirror has reappeared.
Andy and the Woman Speeder - S2-E3
Continuity mistake: When the woman speeder is seen, she is wearing sunglasses, which are gone in a later shot.
Mayberry Goes Bankrupt - S2-E4
Continuity mistake: In establishing scenes throughout the first part of the episode, Andy is seen driving up to Meyers' home which seems to be located far from neighbors and on a dirt road. In the "renovation" scene and those following, Frank's home is located on a paved road with other homes nearby in the shot. Clearly a different set entirely.
Factual error: Andy tells the hobo "that will be the 3:45 stopping for water", meaning its a steam locomotive, but by the time this episode was made railroads had long since switched to diesel.
Visible crew/equipment: When 'FBI Agent' Jenkins congratulates Andy and Barney on behalf of J. Edgar Hoover they're all standing near the door, but when it cuts to Jenkins turning around and they all walk over to the desk, we can see the two curved chalk lines on the floor where Jenkins' feet were positioned, as well as the curved chalk marks on the upper step where the mayor was standing.
Visible crew/equipment: Right after Mrs. Williamson leaves the barbershop upset about the carp killing, when the mayor says that they have more important things to talk about - which is the celebration, we can see the curved chalk actor's marks where Williamson had been standing.
Character mistake: In the beginning where Karen is introduced to Andy and Barney in the coffee shop, her name is Karen Worth, then at the last where she is called as winner of the Skeet Shoot her name changes to Karen Moore.
Suggested correction: She is introduced as "Karen Moore". Thelma Lou's pronunciation is a bit off (what she says sounds like 'moor', as in an English moor), but she says "Moore."
Aunt Bee's Brief Encounter - S2-E9
Other mistake: Mr. Wheeler's license plate number is 'DC 269' which has been used in earlier episodes. Then at the end, when the locks-keys man pulls his truck into the driveway, it has plate number 'VT 772' another prop plate seen in "Barney on the Rebound" when the pretty woman drives into town.
The Clubmen - S2-E10
Other mistake: After Andy turns down the offer to join the club the two men leave, and when it cuts to them driving away we see the license plate number is "DC 269," the same as some other vehicles in previous episodes.
Other mistake: Aunt Bee refers to losing the pickle contest 10 years in a row (which Clara corrects to 11, leading us to believe they have been in the same competition), but this is her 2nd year in Mayberry, having not seen Andy for years in her season 1 intro as the "new housekeeper", (or Opie - ever) in season 1.
Other mistake: When Andy, Barney, and Opie switch Aunt Bee's kerosene tasting pickles with the store bought pickles during 'operation pickle switch', they put the store pickles in Aunt Bee's mason jars with silver lids and Aunt Bee's pickles in the store's jars with labels and white lids. Their plan is to give away the store jars with Bee's pickles inside, and we see Barney placing the last of the store jars into his bag, but when Barney stops the driver to give him his safe driving award, we see Barney giving away the mason jars with silver lids even though it's the store jars he should be getting rid of.
