Question: I am missing something here. Hank won't give Dale any gas for his mower, because the mower won't start anyway. Then, when Dale shows his new mower to the guys, he says that he pushed the old one into a lake "three months ago." It doesn't seem like three months has passed between the scenes. So Dale either asked for gas when the old mower was gone anyway, or else he lied about pushing the old mower into a lake. Why?
Death of a Propane Salesman (2) - S3-E1
Question: The inspector/official Dale talks to wears a jacket with the initials RRC on it - what do they stand for?
Answer: Texas Railroad Commission. They're the agency that regulate the oil and natural gas industry, natural gas utilities, pipeline safety, and safety of the liquefied petroleum gas industry.
Question: Does Joseph know or at least suspect who his biological father really is?
Hank's Back - S8-E20
Question: Yogi Victor tells Hank "Lunch is one of the worst things you can do to yourself." Does this have any real-life basis in yoga practice, or is it just a personal belief of his?
Answer: Perhaps he's one of those who believes in keeping their eating limited to stay healthy or he could be anorexic or bulimic.
I don't think he is anorexic or bulimic. He seems quite proud of himself and his opinions, and he confidently flirts with a woman in his class. If I am correct, people with eating disorders tend to have low self-esteem. They also feel disgusted with themselves and hide their unusual eating habits.
Question: Does anyone know why the seventh season hasn't come out on DVD yet?
Answer: While no official response from Fox as for its long delay, many have speculated the reason is due to the mixed success the series has had on DVD. The second season is generally used as the example, as the DVD set didn't contain any special features whatsoever. Generally a sign the studio is not confident of the DVD's success.
Answer: All seasons have since been released on DVD.
Question: Are there any plans to do a "King of the Hill" movie?
Answer: There are no current plans to make a movie, however, with the success of the "The Simpsons Movie" that could change.
Answer: As of 2023, new episodes of the show are planned.
Question: Is there any meaning behind the name of the street that the Hills live on, Rainey Street?
Answer: It's a real street in Austin, Texas, and was apparently where Johnny Hardwick (one of the show's writers and the voice of Dale Gribble) used to live.
Question: Why does everyone always call John Redcorn by his full name?
Answer: I don't think this has been explained in any episode. At some point, he most likely asked people to use his full name. Perhaps he wants to highlight the "Redcorn" at all times, out of pride for his family history.
Answer: John is a common enough name that they might know several other Johns that we've never met, so they're being specific.
De-Kahnstructing Henry - S3-E13
Question: When Minh says that Dale can buy the panda radio, and she tells him to address a check to her, why does he pretend not to know her name?
Answer: Dale probably wasn't serious about buying the radio. He was teasing Kahn by asking what Minh's name is. He is enjoying the fact that Kahn and Minh need to sell stuff at a yard sale, because they are normally arrogant, condescending people.
Question: Hank states that Weird Al Yankovic shot himself in the '80s, which is not correct, and seems to be a deliberate "mistake." What joke am I missing?
Answer: I thought it was he deliberately lied about Weird Al so Bobby wouldn't look up to and try to imitate him.
Answer: Hank is out of touch with pop culture and Yankovic had kind of faded from the public view in 1997. Hank's just confusing him with some other obscure singer.
Question: Two questions about Nancy and John Redcorn's affair. First, has it ever been explained why Nancy had an affair for so long and didn't leave Dale? Her relationship with John seemed to be more than just fun. Also, have the show's creators ever said why they didn't do an episode where Dale finds out about the affair?
Answer: In one episode, Nancy says that she loves Dale "in a 'lights-on' sort of way." She feels some type of love and affection for him. It could be a case of her wanting to "have it all." Dale, who doesn't make a lot of money and has low self-confidence, will help care for Joseph and the home, giving Nancy more time to have a passionate affair with John Redcorn.
Answer: Nancy's and John's relationship was based solely on a physical one. they both seem to agree that THAT was the way things were and nothing more could come from it. The reason why there was never an episode of Dale finding out is cause it was one of the shows running gags.
Question: Has there ever been any clear indication that Luanne does or doesn't know about Nancy and John Redcorn's affair?
Answer: Yes! In Peggy's Headache when Hank told Luanne her aunt had her headaches cured by John Redcorn and she gasp and he told her to stop that and put her face back the way it was before someone sees it. She knew then. All the adults knew.
Question: Did they ever say what Cotton did for a living?
Answer: He installed asbestos in schools. It's not said what he did after that, but he complained about all his work being undone.
Question: Why does Peggy think that Bobby would become a drug dealer if he had a pager? This episode first aired in 2002. Weren't pagers still common?
Answer: They were, but that wouldn't stop Peggy from buying into a stereotype.
Question: When Dale first tells Hank that he and Nancy go to couples' therapy, Hank says, "How could you?", as if he's mad about them going. Why?
Answer: Nancy is friends with Peggy, so she might tell Peggy about the couple's therapy, making Peggy want to go there with Hank.
Question: Why is Luanne being pursued for back rent that her parents owe? I know she is eighteen or nineteen years old, a legal adult, but that doesn't automatically make her responsible for paying family members' bills.
Answer: Luanne's parents are the kind of people who might have signed their daughter's name to the lease. A decent lawyer could get her out of it, but that's beyond the scope of this episode.
Also, she might have chosen to sign that lease if she was 18 at the time. Maybe her parents asked her to do it, and she didn't fully understand the responsibility.
Question: Why is John Redcorn surprised that Hank is not Jewish?
Answer: I don't think we can be totally sure, because John Redcorn has never, to my knowledge, said anything else about thinking the Hills are Jewish. This might be related to the stereotype that Jewish people are very careful with money. Hank and Peggy are known to be responsible and diligent. They don't make extravagant purchases, rarely do spontaneous things, and they maintain a comfortable and modest home. It's still a stretch to assume they are Jewish, but it's my best guess.
This also might be a mistake. In the episode "Revenge of the Lutefisk," John Redcorn was at the Hills' church, sitting with Dale and Nancy. He should know they are not Jewish.
Answer: I don't think that Dale actually pushed his old mower into a lake. He is feeling smug and proud about his new mower, so he acts like he doesn't care about old one. He might as well have pushed it into a lake, since he has the great new mower.
