Revealing mistake: When Vyvyan is trying to show off his finger trick there are two mistakes, 1) the fingers are bent the other way (this shows that the hand is fake), 2) when he cuts off the wrong finger there is blood shooting out but you can see the tube of blood right near his wrist.
Visible crew/equipment: When the seriously injured chip is voicing her last words to the carrot, the wire moving her is painfully obvious coming in from the bottom right of the screen. Immediately after that we zoom in on the carrot and can easily see the wire moving it too.
Revealing mistake: When Ftumch hits Saunders, some of Ftumch's red make-up rubs off onto Saunders' face.
Revealing mistake: The guys turn on the TV and discover the channels don't work. When Rik changes the channels, he leans in front of the TV hiding the screen. This is because the 'channel' never changes at all - it's just a picture stuck onto the TV. You can see this when the camera rotates around, just before the screen goes out of view, behind Rik.
Revealing mistake: Near the start, when Vyvyan sticks his hand through the wall to swear at Rick, you can see where the holes from previous takes have been papered and painted over.
Revealing mistake: When Neil is about to blow up the kettle, watch as he plugs it in. The power point moves a bit.
Interesting - S1-E5
Visible crew/equipment: When Neil has a smoke that his hippy friend gave him, he floats up into the sky, and you can see the strings lifting him up.

Revealing mistake: When Rik Mayall is in the middle of the doorway dancing to the Human League record, you can see him abruptly change his dance steps and deliberately move across to his left (our right) to give the two Police officers room to get past him to destroy the record player. He had his back to the front door the whole time and wouldn't have been able to see them come in.
Interesting - S1-E5
Visible crew/equipment: When Rick talks to the Christian woman, there is one shot showing the stairs behind her. In the upper right corner of the screen you can see someone's legs as he walks out of sight. None of the characters should be there at that precise moment.

Continuity mistake: Vyv has a beer when he enters the 'party', but when he starts doing exercises in a vain attempt to impress the girls, it's gone. He had no time to throw it away.
Revealing mistake: When Jerzei is coming through the door with an axe, you can see the door is paper thin to make it easier to get through. In fact you can see Alexei Sayle being very careful to only chip small bits away because a decent whack with the axe would smash the whole thing down.
Visible crew/equipment: When the landlord is about to start smashing holes in the door, a boom mic creeps into the top of the screen.
Visible crew/equipment: When the song "Ace of Spades" is playing, we see the camera pan up to the singer. You see the studio lights reflected in his sunglasses, as well as part of the camera.
Revealing mistake: When Rik jumps in his bed with the magazine and the circular saw comes out, watch closely and you can see the bed and sheets are already in two halves.
Revealing mistake: When the vampire is shaving himself in the toilet, the reflection in the mirror of his shaving cream, clothes and gloves is almost, but not quite, identical to his movements. The empty suit in the mirror and the visible part in front of it were shot separately by copying the other part's movements as closely as possible, as the surviving raw footage can prove. It's hard to see, but there is a small difference between the motion of the hands.
Revealing mistake: When Neil starts to sneeze, he carefully puts his hands close to his nose to give the impression that the green jet is coming from his nose. However, in one shot, just before the guys bag him we see the jet appearing from his hand while his hand is several centimetres from his nose.
Other mistake: Just as Brian Damage says, "Oh, weren't ya?" to Neil, you can see the shadow of Neil's mother on the front door, awaiting her cue to come in.
Factual error: During "Jester Balowski's Medieval Torture Hour," Balowski grabs the guys arm and bends it the way arms are supposed to bend, yet you hear a breaking noise.
Revealing mistake: After Mike burns the stumps (aka Rik), the special patch that was set on fire on the back of Rik's overalls is visible.
Chosen answer: It wasn't referring to anything real, just that the government's bureaucratic naming, The Guardian's mangled spelling or Rick's bad pronounciation resulted in the unlikely word "Footumch" being spoken.
