Continuity mistake: When Clark decides to stay home from school because he cannot control his heat vision, his father decides to have a talk with him. Jonathan pulls his son to face him and them places both his hands on Clark's shoulders. Cut to a different angle as Jonathan says: 'Clark, look at me ' but now we see his left hand on Clark's neck. Cut back to the previous angle and his hands are on Clark's shoulders again.
Vortex (2) - S2-E1
Continuity mistake: When Clark, Pete and Chloe were searching for Clark's father in the woods, they stumble upon a motor home dropped by the tornado. Chloe then picks up a Nixon's camera and looks at it. Cut to Nixon and Jonathan Kent then back to a wide shot as we see Chloe throwing the camera down onto the ground. Clark then uses his X-Ray vision once again. Cut back to a wider angle (as they walk away) yet we see Chloe throw down the camera once again.
Continuity mistake: At the Talon during Chloe's interview with Ian, Ian holds the mug by its ear, but in the next shot Ian is no longer holding the mug by its ear but by the mug itself.
Audio problem: Clark says "What if it's some sort of high tech crop duster or something?". Pete replies with "She'll never let us live it down." After the shot changes you can see Pete's mouth say "live it down" again with no sound coming out.
Continuity mistake: Lex and Clark are playing pool. Lex misses his shot on the 12 ball and scratches which leaves the 12 ball near the pocket. After Clark gets the cue ball, he makes his shot on a different ball and the 12 ball that was next to the pocket is gone without it being knocked into the pocket.
Continuity mistake: Clark tells his parents that he went to see his grandfather and that he asks to give the cashiers check to his mom. He takes it out of his pocket with his right hand and Martha Kent takes it with her left hand. Cut to a different angle but now it is Martha's left arm which is see being pulled back to her body as if she took the check using her right hand instead.
Continuity mistake: In the flashback when the Kent's meet Clark, we see Jonathan loading the space ship onto the back of the pick up truck. He then see Martha carrying Clark who was wrapped up in a blanket. At first we see that Martha's left arm is wrapped around Clark's back onto his shoulder. Cut to Jonathan's viewpoint and now Martha is just supporting Clark and her left arm is no longer around Clark.
Continuity mistake: At the Talon, Clark tries to write his essay when Crissy shows up asking Clark to sign up for the decorations committee. Crissy holds her clipboard with her left hand and places her right hand on her hip. But in the next shot Crissy's right hand on the clipboard as well. Cut back to the previous angle and her right hand is back on her hip.
Revealing mistake: In the sheriff's office, the door to the jail area has no lock plate on the wall.
Insurgence - S2-E12
Revealing mistake: After Lex's employee walks out of the office, Lex gets mad and throws most of the objects off his desk. Prior to this, we see a computer screen displaying something. When the objects go flying off and hit the wall, we see that it wasn't actually a computer screen but a prop that was made look like one. It was just the frame, a piece of paper that served as the display covered by clear plastic to make it look like an actual computer screen.
Continuity mistake: When Pete and Jonathan corner Clark in the cornfield, Pete opens a lead box containing green kryptonite to weaken Clark. The position of how Pete holds the lead box changes every cut. At first he is holding it with just his right hand, then just his left, then both his hands.
Continuity mistake: When Chloe tells Pete about her discovery about the Red meteor rocks, she gives a sample to Pete who then looks at it. At this time the red meteor embedded in the rock is above Pete's left index and middle fingers. Cut to a close up of Pete's ring and the rock but now the rock is embedded in between Pete's left index finger and thumb.
Other mistake: When the Marine officer comes to Whitneys house, he introduces himself as Lt. McNulty, but he is wearing the insignia of a Captain.
Factual error: When Ian throws the unconscious Chloe over the edge of the dam we see her falling down as Clark falls with her. However, Chloe's body position is unnatural for someone who is falling while unconscious. Her head/body is arched backwards when air resistance should have forced her body to become level/straight.
Continuity mistake: Clark arrives at the Talon after Lex reads the mysterious love letter for Lana. Lex the gives back the letter to Lana twice between shots.
Audio problem: After they get the spaceship into Pete's shed, Pete wants to go tell Chloe. Clark insists that he doesn't and Pete says "To her, this thing is the Holy Grail.". The shot zooms in and Pete's mouth shows him saying "Holy Grail" again even though he already said it and you don't hear the words.
Continuity mistake: Clark tries to talk to Pete into helping him find his ship. As Clark was talking about the driver, we see the cover to Pete's locker in the foreground. Cut to a different angle and now Pete's left hand is on the locker and it wasn't there in the previous angle.
Exodus (2) - S2-E23
Continuity mistake: When Kent leaves on his motorbike at the end of the episode, in a shot from behind Lana crosses her arms. In the next closeup her right arm is up by her mouth.
Continuity mistake: The motorcyclist has his visor down when he appears at the end of the alley. He raises the gun, then reaches up and lowers his visor again. (00:27:00)
Answer: In the comics, Krypto is a dog from Krypton who was used as the passenger in a test launch by Jor-El, Superman's father, before he launched the actual rocket taking his infant son to Earth. Krypto's capsule was involved in a mishap, sending it out of Kryptonian orbit and eventually found its way to Earth where he linked up with the young Clark Kent. Like any native of Krypton, Krypto has superpowers on Earth. In Smallville, the dog is a standard Earth dog who has been experimentally injected with kryptonite, giving him super-strength for a limited period of time, who escapes and links up with Clark (who suggests the name Krypto, ostensibly because of the dog's cryptic origins). It doesn't take too long for the dog's strength to fade, and the Kents decide to keep him, although they ultimately name him Shelby, after a dog that Martha Kent had in childhood.
