Touchstone - S2-E14

Plot hole: When half of SG-1 return to Medrona to detonate a charge aimed at the gate, why didn't they just go to another planet? As when they went to Medrona, there was a blizzard going on and they also had the natives saying they will arrest them as they still hadn't returned the Touchstone. Could have just saved themeselves some hassle.

Touchstone - S2-E14

Plot hole: The NID guys escape because Jack can't kill them. He fires his MP-5 around them to try to make them stop. Is there a reason he didn't bring a Zat gun along? The whole point of this mission was to stop the NID rogue agents without killing them and to capture them if possible. The Zat gun seems tailor-made for a mission like this.

Grumpy Scot

A Matter of Time - S2-E16

Other mistake: In one scene, someone over a P.A. says something like "The mountain is now on emergency power and life support." but the subtitles say M.A.L.P (the probe they send through the gate) instead of mountain.

A Matter of Time - S2-E16

Character mistake: When Hammond and Carter come out of the base, Hammond is told he's been gone 22 hours. Hammond says he's only been gone about 20 minutes. To which Carter says, due to time dilation, time is moving an average of 600% slower and that telling O'Neill to wait 5 minutes would be 6 hours or more. However, 600% is just another way of saying "6 times" and time is slower by about 66 times, so she should have said an average of 6,000%. 5 minutes being 6 hours would be 72 times slower.

Holiday - S2-E17

Continuity mistake: In an early scene "Ma'chello" is lying in the infirmary with a oxygen mask on, it cuts to Frasier and O'Neill talking about him, then cuts back and "Ma'chello" now has nose tubes.

Show and Tell - S2-E20

Plot hole: The last two invisible aliens are in the room with Charlie and "Mother". Since both of them can see the aliens, why don't they warn O'Neill that they are there?

1969 - S2-E21

Factual error: During SG-1's trip across the nation they show a city-scape of Chicago. Which is evident by the Sears Tower. But the Sears Tower was not build in 1969. Construction started in 1970 and completed in 1973.

Ascension - S5-E3

Carter: Hey, guys, what are you doing here?
O'Neill: We brought pizza and a movie.
Teal'c: Star Wars.
O'Neill: He's seen it, what, eight times?
Teal'c: Nine.
O'Neill: Nine times. If Teal'c likes it, it's got to be okay.
Carter: You've never seen Star Wars?
O'Neill: Aahh, you know me and sci-fi.

Answer: While the series was undeniably successful, filming it is a long process, taking many months of often long days. Anderson, after several years of doing this, wished to spend more time with his young daughter, who he felt he was neglecting, and requested that his role in the series be scaled back. Ultimately, he decided to leave the main cast altogether and only make occasional guest appearances.
