The Return Of Mr. Bean - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: The yellow towel Mr. Bean puts in his basket in the department store is so large it nearly takes up all the space in his basket, yet when he rides up the escalator, the the towel is now half the size of the basket, even though it's folded.

Mr. Bean mistake picture

The Library - S1-E3

Continuity mistake: Just when Mr. Bean's hiccups are over the guy sitting on the table with him takes his right hand up to the book and has his left lower arm on the table. But after Bean hiccups again he suddenly has his right hand down again and his left hand on his book.

The Curse Of Mr. Bean - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: When Mr Bean is trying to get out of the car park through the entrance, he uses a wheelie-bin to simulate a car to get the gate to open. After he's out and shifted the bin, he's blocked in by another car. We see a hand take the next ticket (presumably belonging to the driver of the incoming car) but the car pulling up in front of Mr Bean is so far away from the ticket machine its not possible for him to take it and drive into the car park in the short amount of time seen, plus we never see or hear anybody get out of the car to get the ticket.

The Curse Of Mr. Bean - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: It's clear Mr Bean is hanging from the diving board by one hand by the time the boy decides to stamp on his hand. When the boy does stamp on him, watch the position of Bean's left arm in the next shot – he appears to be holding on with both hands.

The Curse Of Mr. Bean - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: Just after Mr. Bean's hand is stomped on by one of the boys, and he lets go of the diving board, the camera pans back to show him falling into the water, but the same shot shows no-one else standing on either of the diving boards. The two boys should have still been standing on the higher one.

Suggested correction: This is only an error in the "widescreen," aka cropped version of the episode. In the original 4:3 edit, you can see the two boys at the top of the screen, but the "widescreen" shot cuts them off.

And even then, the boys' legs are still visible in the widescreen version.

The Trouble With Mr. Bean - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: When Mr Bean is going round the roundabout putting his tie on, there is no traffic waiting in the overhead shots, yet all frontal shots of Bean show traffic waiting in the background.

The Trouble With Mr. Bean - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: In the sketch where Mr Bean drives to the dentist, there is a part where he starts to dress himself. If you look out of the window, the scenery keeps changing dramatically. In some shots he is driving along a single lane carriageway with buildings on the sides and in other shots he his driving along a dual carriageway with no buildings on the sides, all while he is getting dressed.

The Trouble With Mr. Bean - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: When Mr. Bean is dressing in his car on the way to the dentist, just after he puts his shirt on the camera cuts to show him from the rear of the car. In this shot he has his dress pants on already, but he hadn't put them on yet and in subsequent shots they are gone again.

Merry Christmas Mr. Bean - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: After Mr. Bean's musical performance, there's a shot of people applauding him. There's a man at the right of the group. In the next scene that same man is seen buying the last two Christmas trees, right before Mr. Bean gets a chance to buy any. There's only five seconds between the scenes. The man couldn't have run to the Christmas tree salesman, talk to him, and pay him for the trees within those five seconds. (00:10:25)

Merry Christmas Mr. Bean - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: Mr. Bean puts Christmas cards in envelopes, then seals each envelope by licking each flap. Then he puts the envelopes through the mail slot in his door, pretending that someone else mailed them to him, which is funny. Then he opens each envelope just by unfolding the flap instead of tearing open the envelope, that means that each flap had not been sealed.

Suggested correction: There is only a few moments between Bean licking the envelopes and then posting them to himself. Obviously the glue on the envelopes hasn't dried yet.

If the envelope Mr. Bean had opened were actually the envelope he had licked, then some part of the glue would have stuck, even though there were only a few seconds between licking, mailing and opening, so we would have seen him have a little resistance from the envelope when he opened the envelope. Also, he licked only one envelope, but he mailed three envelopes, so presumably prior to him coming home in the episode, he had licked the other two envelopes. Because he licked one envelope, it is reasonable he would have licked the other two envelopes earlier.

Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean - S1-E13

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Mr. Bean is on the roof of his car in the armchair, he has a brick in front of the tire. When he is ready to go he pulls it away and drops it. But as he drives away you can see in the background that the brick has disappeared. (00:12:15)

Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean - S1-E13

Continuity mistake: When Mr. Bean brings in his new chair after his "incident", he wheels his old chair over to the wall with a minimal gap to accommodate the new chair. But when he is accidentally dropping things out of the gap in his wall, he goes and looks at the mess he has made and the chair has moved forward considerably without anyone touching it. (00:14:50)

Goodnight, Mr. Bean - S1-E18

Other mistake: When calling their next patient, the nurses look at the small screen to find out what number is next. After Mr. Bean has rotated the device, however, a nurse calls number 92 before the screen displays the 9. (00:06:22)

Trivia: The Latin lyrics used at the beginning are "Ecce homo qui est farba, qui est farba, qui est farba", which mean "Behold the man who is a bean". At the end, it's identical, but "Ecce" is changed to "Vale"; "Farewell, man who is a bean." Before and after the advert break (in the UK version), the lyrics are "Fin de partie primae" and "Pars secunda" - "End of Part One" and "Part Two".

More trivia for Mr. Bean

Chosen answer: I'm guessing it is because he bought a new car. At the end of the first Bean, he crashed the mini. You hear the crash and see his wheel bouncing down the road. Safe to assume it was a write-off.

Soylent Purple

Answer: Yeah he had a red Mini at the beginning but it ends up getting crashed at the end of the episode. And then in other episodes he has a green Mini.

Dan23

Answer: So you didn't see the end of the first episode when he crashed the old Mini and the wheel fell off? Plausible that he bought a new one afterwards.

Answer: I think it is because in the last episode his green car got smashed in the ceremony and he bought a red mini until he got a new green mini.
