The 1000th Show - S5-E5

Continuity mistake: Near the beginning of the show, Frasier brings Roz a muffin in a bag which she places to the left of her phone (her left). During the scene, the bag shifts from being near the console to being back to left of the phone. At one point Frasier and Roz leave the booth, then come back in, and it has moved in the meantime.

The 1000th Show - S5-E5

Continuity mistake: Near the start of the show Marty brings two green mugs over to Daphne at Cafe Nervosa, gives her one and keeps one for himself. We see his hand on the mug but in the next shot the same hand is on his knee.

The 1000th Show - S5-E5

Continuity mistake: Near the start of the show, Roz is reading the note Bulldog has left with the teddy bear. She is holding the note in both hands with the bear between her arm and chest. As she says "love, Bulldog", the shot shows one hand hugging the bear against her, with no time for this to have happened naturally.

The 1000th Show - S5-E5

Continuity mistake: When Frasier is reading from the psychiatric journal that contains Niles' letter, at one point he is holding it in both hands by the front cover - the shot changes and he has one hand on the front cover and one hand on the back cover, without time to switch naturally.

Enemy at the Gate - S10-E2

Visible crew/equipment: When Frasier is standing through his sunroof to speak with the drivers stuck behind him in the parking garage, one shot shows Frasier's body and much of the rear window which features a very clear reflection of the boom mic.

Question: Counting his role on Cheers, Kesley Grammar has played Fraiser for twenty years. Is this the record for the longest portrayal of a character by a TV actor?

Answer: It equals the record of James Arness of "Gunsmoke" for the actor who's played the same part on TV NOT in a soap opera. If you include soaps there are two main contenders - William Roache, who's been playing Ken Barlow in "Coronation Street" in the UK since 1960. Don Hastings has been playing Robert Hughes in US soap "As the World Turns" since 1960 as well.
