Sex and the City

Let there be light - S6-E13

Trivia: This scene was actually filmed in the fragrance department of Takashimaya, which is a real location in New York City. (00:04:45)

Boy, interrupted - S6-E10

Trivia: During the prom scenes, almost every single one of the extras were actually at the original Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Prom. They all came back dressed, to film the scenes. (00:25:20)

I love a charade - S5-E8

Trivia: During the scene at the wedding reception, Carrie is wearing her 'Carrie' necklace, which hasn't been on her the entire season. This symbolizes that Carrie feels like she has come back to herself. Also, the 'Carrie' necklace appears and disappears during the entire series in very important and significant ways. (00:25:25)

I heart ny - S4-E18

Trivia: In this scene with Miranda giving birth, the doctor shown is a real MD. They wanted to use a real doctor who knew how to handle a baby. (00:26:35)

Don't ask, don't tell - S3-E12

Trivia: At the beginning of Charlotte's wedding, they are playing an actual Scottish funeral dirge. This is to symbolize Charlotte losing herself in a bad marriage. (00:22:30)

Splat! - S6-E18

Trivia: Aleksander's kitchen set was beautifully designed, but they forgot to include any ovens or a refrigerator. They didn't realize this until they were filming this scene. So they had to use a 'lit-up shelf' as a pretend oven, for Aleksander's character to use convincingly. (00:02:40)

All or nothing - S3-E10

Trivia: During this scene when Miranda is having phone sex, the male actor's voice is not dubbed or edited in. Instead of using him in voiceover, he is actually in the next room, talking live on the phone to Cynthia Nixon. (00:17:05)

Easy come, easy go - S3-E9

Trivia: When Trey and Charlotte are viewed through the Tiffany window, it isn't the actual window. Tiffany would not allow cameras to film inside their store, so the show built a fake Tiffany window. But Tiffany sent their dressers to dress the window, to make it appear authentic to the real thing. (00:24:20)

What goes around comes around - S3-E17

Trivia: When Carrie and Samantha are walking to the party, they stop when they find out it's actually located at a college dorm. The name of the dorm is shown as 'Coulter Hall'. This is an homage to Allen Coulter, the director of this episode. (00:11:10)

To market, to market - S6-E1

Trivia: Concerning the entire Wall Street/Stock Market scenes; Sex and the city was the very first production to film in the New York Stock Exchange since the movie Wall Street. They filmed these scenes at the actual NYSE. Because it was after 9-11, every piece of camera equipment, prop, costume, etc. had to be sniffed by bomb-sniffing dogs. This was the very first non-official event that was let into the Stock Market after 9-11. Every extra that you can see on the Stock Market floor was an actual trader. Also, Sex and the city got to open the real Stock Market, on the day the show premiered.

I love a charade - S5-E8

Trivia: During this scene, Samantha throws a cantaloupe through the plate glass door. Carrie is standing in the background at the party, and you can see her suddenly duck and react very strongly to the glass breaking. The reason she did this was because, when the glass door was shattered, the glass fragments flew out a much greater distance than had been expected. All of the actors standing near there, including Sarah Jessica Parker, were taken by surprise. (00:20:00)

I love a charade - S5-E8

Trivia: The pink dress that Carrie is wearing is very special. Patricia Field designed and made the dress, to cover Sarah Jessica Parker's pregnancy. This was the only time a Patricia Field dress had ever been on the show. (00:26:10)

I heart ny - S4-E18

Trivia: The apartment shown in this scene as Big's, was the same apartment they used for Trey and Charlotte. They had to reconfigure the living room to make it look like Big's again, because he had been out of the series for so long. (00:28:45)

I heart ny - S4-E18

Trivia: The large 'moon' seen in this scene was not the real moon. It was actually a light that got caught on film, and they decided to shape it into the moon. (00:22:50)

Great sexpectations - S6-E2

Trivia: According to the commentary, the show was always careful not to locate the day and year on screen. But in this scene, when Miranda's Tivo has broken, it was necessary to use the real date. The date shown on the Tivo screen was actually the date the show first aired (right around that week). (00:15:45)

To market, to market - S6-E1

Plot hole: In this episode Carrie runs into Aidan, who now has what looks to be about a 6 month old baby (Tate). This doesn't seem possible, as Carrie and Aidan would have only broken up about a year ago, and Miranda was around 6 months pregnant when they broke up. Brady is only about 5 months old at this point in the series, leaving Aidan only roughly 8 months to have this baby - but Aidan lay in bed for about a month and then dated Nina Katz for awhile. Timeline just doesn't seem to fit.

Twenty-something girls vs. thirty-something women - S2-E17

Question: I have a somewhat odd question for everyone that watches Sex and the city. I got into the show about 2 or 3 years after it started running but I remember watching the episode "Twenty-Something Girls vs. Thirty-Something Women" which was the episode about Carrie and the girls going to the Hamptons and renting a house. Charlotte dates a younger guy that gives her crabs. There is commentary about comparing 20 year girls to 30 year old women and when I watched this episode originally I swear there was a different ending then what is what is shown now. I want to know if anyone else has seen this or am I absolutely insane. In the episode there is a girl that pukes on the beach - her friend holds her hair back and Carrie makes a commentary about "counting on 20 year old girls to hold your hair back." Later when Carrie sees Big with Natasha she runs to the beach and Miranda runs after her. Carrie throws up because she is upset and Miranda holds her hair back, but the version I saw changes the commentary/narration and says that you can "always count on a 30 something year old friend to hold your hair back." I haven't seen that version again. Has anyone else seen it or did I just dream this, because I swear I remember watching this when it first came out?

Weeny Post

Answer: I'm a long-time fan of the show, having re-watched it many times, and I definitely remember slightly different dialogue at the end of that episode than what's on my DVD. I'm afraid I have no idea why this change might have been made or any other info, but you're not insane.
