Sex and the City

Cover girl - S5-E4

Continuity mistake: Carrie goes inside the changing booth to try on the pink outfit. Then after Stanford and Marcus arrive, Carrie suddenly whips the curtain open to reveal herself completely changed into the new outfit including shoes, after only 21 seconds. These events happen in real time; and there is no logical way that Carrie could have changed from one complete outfit to another in that time. (00:17:45)

Continuity mistake: When we first see the 3 sailors walking down the NYC street, they are in a close-up shot that cuts off about where their knees would be. But the next shot of them as Miranda turns around; the sailors are much further away, showing all of them. Then for the final shot; the sailors are closer as they would be normally, but still not as close as the first shot. Their feet are still not showing. (00:04:20)

Continuity mistake: When the cop tells Sam not to stick bills on lamp posts, the first shot shows the bills crumpled and messily stuck. A shot later they're neatly placed. Then yet another shot later their position changes for a third time.

The big journey - S5-E7

Continuity mistake: When Charlotte is signing her divorce papers, there is a close-up of Harry's face leaning over her. It's covered with large drops of sweat, some of which drip onto the paper. But in the next shot of Harry when he is standing up, he isn't nearly as sweaty. Most of the perspiration on his face seems to have disappeared. (00:07:00)

Critical condition - S5-E6

Continuity mistake: When Carrie and Steve are sitting on his front steps discussing Aiden, Carrie is looking forward as Steve says "He lost his ability to open up and trust women." At that moment; Carrie turns her face towards Steve to her left, and keeps it there as she is appalled. But the very next shot; Carrie is suddenly facing forward again, and then starts turning her head left towards Steve for a second time. But in the next shot; she is already facing Steve, from the first time she reacted to what he said. It's clear that she had never actually moved her head after the first time. (00:25:30)

Continuity mistake: When Carrie is talking to the cute guy while hiding out from the rain, she tells him, "I was engaged last year". But the previous episode, when Mr. Big moved to Napa, it was just becoming Fall in NYC. So it doesn't seem likely that only one episode later, it would be months later into the next calendar year. (00:17:40)

Unoriginal sin - S5-E2

Continuity mistake: Up until this time, the baby Brady has been shown to be larger, with a very round face and red hair. But when they show the baby in the crib (04:22) this is a different baby. It's much younger, smaller, no round face, and has dark brown hair. And later, when Steve's mother shows Miranda the photo of Brady, (14:21) again it's a much smaller, younger baby with dark brown hair, and no round face. During the actual Baptism, when they show close-ups of Carrie holding Brady while Charlotte takes pictures; (26:20) the baby looks like yet another baby that is smaller and younger, but appears to have reddish hair. Looks like they used 3 different babies to represent Brady at this point. (00:04:20 - 00:26:20)

Luck be an old lady - S5-E3

Continuity mistake: When Samantha first puts on the gold necklace in the hotel room, the pendants dangling on the right side are lying over the right lapel of her blouse. But after Samantha walks the housekeeper out the door and turns to face Richard, suddenly the same pendants on the necklace are underneath the lapel, though she did not have a chance to fix the necklace in this time. (00:16:50)

Continuity mistake: Miranda's hair cut and color changes in this episode. When they see the sailors on the street, her hair is very red and straight, but when she goes home to Steve and the baby nurse, her hair is a softer red and styled more inward towards her face.

The big journey - S5-E7

Continuity mistake: In the train, before and during the moment when the waiter asks Sam what she wants, her menu keeps changing positions in every shot: sometimes it's slightly raised, others it's about to be raised, and once it lies flat on the table.

To market, to market - S6-E1

Plot hole: In this episode Carrie runs into Aidan, who now has what looks to be about a 6 month old baby (Tate). This doesn't seem possible, as Carrie and Aidan would have only broken up about a year ago, and Miranda was around 6 months pregnant when they broke up. Brady is only about 5 months old at this point in the series, leaving Aidan only roughly 8 months to have this baby - but Aidan lay in bed for about a month and then dated Nina Katz for awhile. Timeline just doesn't seem to fit.

Samantha: There isn't enough wall space in New York City to hang all of my exes. Let me tell you, a lot of them were hung.

Twenty-something girls vs. thirty-something women - S2-E17

Question: I have a somewhat odd question for everyone that watches Sex and the city. I got into the show about 2 or 3 years after it started running but I remember watching the episode "Twenty-Something Girls vs. Thirty-Something Women" which was the episode about Carrie and the girls going to the Hamptons and renting a house. Charlotte dates a younger guy that gives her crabs. There is commentary about comparing 20 year girls to 30 year old women and when I watched this episode originally I swear there was a different ending then what is what is shown now. I want to know if anyone else has seen this or am I absolutely insane. In the episode there is a girl that pukes on the beach - her friend holds her hair back and Carrie makes a commentary about "counting on 20 year old girls to hold your hair back." Later when Carrie sees Big with Natasha she runs to the beach and Miranda runs after her. Carrie throws up because she is upset and Miranda holds her hair back, but the version I saw changes the commentary/narration and says that you can "always count on a 30 something year old friend to hold your hair back." I haven't seen that version again. Has anyone else seen it or did I just dream this, because I swear I remember watching this when it first came out?

Weeny Post

Answer: I'm a long-time fan of the show, having re-watched it many times, and I definitely remember slightly different dialogue at the end of that episode than what's on my DVD. I'm afraid I have no idea why this change might have been made or any other info, but you're not insane.
