The Mask of Doom: Part 2 - S1-E9
Continuity mistake: When Thing is falling towards the river, the sclera of his eyes and Mr. Fantastic's arm are briefly the same orange color as Thing's rocky skin. (00:17:44)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When Reed is launching the boulder back at the Persian's catapult, you can see there are no Persians around the catapult. When the shot changes, there are suddenly now seven soldiers and a horse next to the catapult. (00:04:55)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When the heroes are fending off the attacking Persian army, Johnny flies by a group of them and throws fire at them to keep them at bay. When he flies by again going the opposite direction, the animators have drawn him considerably smaller than he was on his first pass. (00:04:59)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When Thing is asking if the Greeks have ever heard of air fresheners, part of his orange face turns gray. (00:09:22)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: After Oracle says "It is for you to question me," her earrings have disappeared. (00:10:05)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When Johnny jumps off the edge of the waterfall, he is falling to the right of it. When he lands, he is suddenly on the left side of the waterfall. (00:10:58)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When the heroes fall asleep next to the Coffin of Argos, Thing is at the top of it, and Johnny's head is positioned midway with his feet nearly level with the top. When the Persians begin approaching them, the top of the coffin has now flipped to the opposite side, with Johnny's head resting near it, and Thing's head in line with the middle. The coffin also went from resting on the ground to being on top of a pile of treasure. (00:12:29 - 00:12:50)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When the Persians are trying to pry Reed off the coffin, his right hand is positioned above his left hand. When the shot changes, the hands are level with each other. (00:13:04)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Revealing mistake: When the Persians are rowing the boat, four of them have the same face. (00:13:23)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: After Thing throws the Persian commander into the ocean, the cuff on Johnny's left wrist briefly turns the same color as his skin. (00:14:15)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Audio problem: When Thing is saying "Let's eighty-six these chains. Bondage makes me nervous," his mouth isn't moving. (00:14:18)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Other mistake: After Thing breaks the chains he, Reed and Johnny were bound to, Johnny's cufflinks simply slip off his hands. Breaking chains wouldn't magically cause the cufflinks to now be able to slip off a person's hands. And if Johnny was able to slip them off anyway, he wouldn't have needed to wait for Thing to break the chains to do so. (00:14:19)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Revealing mistake: When the heroes are observing the Greek ships during the Battle of Salamis, the oars of one of the ships are still visible in the water as it passes behind another ship. (00:14:53)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When Reed outstretched his body towards the Greek ship, it is the brown area of his armor that makes up the bridge between the Persian ship and the Greek ship. When Thing is shown running across Reed's body to get to the Greek ship, it is now blue instead of brown. When Reed unstretches himself, it is now shown to be his bare legs that were the bridge. (00:15:02)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Factual error: When the Persians launch the boulder at the Greek ship, it falls short and lands in the ocean. The ensuing splash is far too small for the mass of the boulder and the velocity at which it landed in the water. (00:15:31)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Continuity mistake: When Thing is hitting the balls of Greek fire at the Persian ship, the golden-brown mast he tore out of the ship to use as a baseball bat is now the same color as the ocean. (00:16:37)
Answer: Gleaned from the Internet: Much of the negative reaction was due to the poor, simplistic, and outdated quality of the animation where the characters moved stiffly and clumsily through scenes. There were also some obvious animation compositing gaffs. The animation colors were also criticized as being overly bright and cheery and out of character to the established story's darker tone. The broad humor of the first season was replaced by a more mature narrative between the characters.
