Continuity mistake: When Dwayne and Lexi begin rehearsing her lines, the pen changes position between shots after he gives his Angel Gabriel performance, and when he is standing and expresses appreciation for her delivery there's an obvious incoherence in the movement of his arm, with the hand hovering on the script in one shot and off the way entirely in the next. Besides, he was starting his reading "from the top" but the finger supposedly following the conversation was almost at the end of the page. (00:21:05)

Continuity mistake: Dwayne offers to help the 'Chief' to meet new women. There's some banter with the other colleagues, and then Fidel says that "In a weird way that actually makes sense." Dwayne is holding a book in front of his stomach - in the next shot, he has his arms down his sides, so Fidel can poke him in the tummy. (00:21:35)

Continuity mistake: After they spoke with the grumpy writer, Humphrey tells Camille about the domestic dispute in Lexi's hotel room and they both hop in the car. During this part of the scene, there are several extra leaving the screen either left or right and some are shooting hoops in the background. When we see the two cops drive away, they drive by a few people on the road who are the same extras from before and that were going in separate directions. (00:25:00)

Continuity mistake: Inspecting the crime scene, Camille is looking through the victim's extensive wardrobe and wonders how he could afford all those designer clothes. Dwayne says "Good question. Come."; Camille has her right hand on the edge of the armoire door, but at the next shot it is her left hand, with the right on the other panel of the sliding door. (00:07:45)

Continuity mistake: Camille tests how hard it is to reach the room keys (answer; it is very easy). In close-up the key to 276 is unperturbed and with the actual key to the right of the rock, but in the wide shot the key is to the opposite side of the stone fob. (00:07:55)
Answer: There's probably no particular reason. Sets and props on long-running TV shows often change as needed and for various reasons throughout a series run.
