Continuity mistake: On the helicopter arriving at Duel Academy, Syrus has his hands placed on the window. In the first shot, his hands are placed partially on the window frame, but in a closer shot, his hands are placed nearer to the centre of the window. (00:00:06)
Other mistake: When Jaden and Syrus enter their dorm room, the curtains are closed, but this doesn't affect the lighting at all. The light isn't switched on, but the room appears exactly as it would if the curtains were open, without appearing dim or darkly lit, and the lighting doesn't change once they open the curtains. Audio problem: After Jaden says he and Syrus are their new roommates, Chumley turns his back to Jaden and Syrus to go back to sleep. Jaden and Syrus then turn to each other and say "Uh", but their lips don't move. (00:03:40)
Continuity mistake: When Alexis walks up to the boys in the duelling arena, in the first shot of her, she has her arms folded, with her right hand placed over her left upper arm. When the shot cuts to focus on her, her left upper arm is over her right hand. (00:07:20)
Continuity mistake: When Professor Banner introduces himself to the students, he raises his left hand to wave to them. In the next shot, his left hand is suddenly lowered. (00:09:04)
Continuity mistake: After Jaden has finished watching the video message from Chazz, in the close-up of the phone, he has his fingers over the front of the phone. When the shot cuts, his fingers are suddenly placed over the back of the phone. (00:10:12)
Continuity mistake: At the start of the duel, Chazz draws a card and has two fingers against the back of it. When it cuts to a close-up of the cards, he suddenly has one finger against the back. (00:11:15)
Revealing mistake: When Chazz summons Reborn Zombie in Defence Mode, the monster appears on the duel field, as well as the playing card beneath it, positioned at a horizontal angle, for it to stand on. The card casts a shadow on the ground, but the shadow can be seen lifting above the ground. (00:11:22)
