Continuity mistake: Lucas received his mid-term grades in the mail BEFORE Mr. Butler actually entered his grade on the computer. Lucas got the mail and took his unopened grade report to his bedroom then the camera shifts to Mr. Butler contemplating what grade to fill in for Lucas. Mr. Butler made the entry (grade not shown) and closed his laptop. The camera returns to Lucas, who opens his mid-term grade report and sees the "F" from Mr. Butler. (00:51:21)

Continuity mistake: More than once, the Tabasco sauce lid is removed and not put back on yet somehow gets back on before it is removed again. First, Nick drops the lid onto the counter and doesn't pick it up before taking his soup to the table. Jack goes to the counter to get the Tabasco sauce, sits down, then takes the lid off and drops it onto the table. Nick is soon seen holding the Tabasco sauce bottle and, once again, removes the lid. Continuity mistake: The amount of rain on The Man's shirt is relatively light when he reaches the doorstep but his shirt was saturated before he even started going up the sidewalk. He was in the house for a couple of minutes to kill the two people and set the house on fire (not enough time for his shirt to dry) yet his shirt was almost dry when he exited the house. The Man's shirt got soaked again on his way to his truck. The shirt looks dark blue when saturated with rain but light blue when it is dry. (00:02:53 - 00:03:51)

Continuity mistake: The amount of blood on 10-year-old Miguel's face and neck after his "jump in" is not consistent. Sometimes there is more (or less) blood on his cheeks and neck and sometimes it appears splattered compared to large areas diluted with blood. The intensity/color of the blood also changes - sometimes it is very red but other times it is paler. The cut on his left eyebrow apparently was not on the far left corner yet sometimes the blood started there; other times, the blood started almost to the middle of his eyebrow. Sometimes he has blood below his eyebrow. Despite all the blood on his face and neck (down to the sagging T-shirt), there is no blood on his white or light grey T-shirt. He also does not get any blood on his jacket. Miguel was repeatedly punched then kicked by several large, muscular adult gang members for 13 seconds (to become a member of the MS-13 gang) but is unrealistically able to get right up then go and pick up and carry his dog - with no limping or signs of pain. Continuity mistake: The sidewalk to the front door of the kid's house has three (or more) tiers - one step up at a time followed by a landing of several feet, etc. After police shoot Willie in the back and approach him, the sidewalk to the steps before the front door is flat. (01:24:23 - 01:26:40)

Continuity mistake: When Willie is shot in the back by police, his feet land about midway between the two short brick pillars/columns (walkway to the kid's house). After neighbor kids are shown screaming and the camera returns to Willie, his feet are before the first pillar - several feet behind his landing spot. (01:23:45)

Continuity mistake: When Kyle and Swin return to the parking lot after buying duct tape and encounter Pat, the way in which Kyle's long sleeves are rolled up (size/ length/neatness) varies. More often than not, his sleeves are rolled sloppily and sagging a couple inches below his elbows; the amount of wrinkling also varies. Other times, the rolls were neat, the same width, and the sleeves fell at or slightly above his elbows (suggesting they were recently/freshly rolled up). These variations were not due to merely "pushing up" his sleeves from time to time because neatly rolled and at or above the elbows followed sagging sleeves. (00:08:12)

Continuity mistake: In more than one scene, the roads were wet from recent rain yet cars stayed free of splash marks. When Quinn parks outside her home, the streets are wet, but when she opens the door to go inside, a view from inside the house does not show any wet pavement. (00:14:46)

Continuity mistake: In the parking lot scene where Kyle and Swin encountered Pat, Swin's hair was frizzy on the left side during rear views but neatly combed back without frizz with front views.

Continuity mistake: When Pat is standing on the passenger side of the flatbed near the rear bumper, the boxes are not covered in plastic. After Pat takes two steps and is behind the truck, the boxes are suddenly completely wrapped in plastic. (00:09:24)

Continuity mistake: The flatbed truck that Kyle and Swin got in at the onset of their trip is very different when they parked and went to buy rope (but got tape). The truck style is different, the cargo and its cover have changed (tarp is smaller, a different color, and is wrapped across instead of front to back), and the orange cone/cones change locations. Continuity mistake: The campfire's distance from the tent does not stay the same. When Mason and Mason Sr are roasting marshmallows and making S'mores, the campfire is close to the tent. Overnight, the campfire looks about the width of two tents away. In the morning, the campfire is close to the tent again (less than the width of the tent). Mason Sr's boots are outside of the tent in the morning, but he did not wear boots when walking through the woods the day before - he was wearing brown (hiking?) shoes with black trim and laces. Mason Sr's clothes also change from walking through the woods (t-shirt and shorts) to evening (red/gray checked shirt and shorts) to morning (red/gray shirt and jeans). During this time, Mason's clothes stayed the same until morning when he put on a different jersey. (01:10:27 - 01:11:40)

Continuity mistake: The art/photography display at UT and the background change a few times when Mason is removing his photographs and talking to the woman. The photos along the right side of the display disappear. After Mason removes two of his photos, it doesn't look like the third one is still posted, but after the woman leaves it is visible. The backside of pictures show up through the metal display some time after Mason removes the first two pictures (but were not there when he first removed his pictures). A lot of people are moving around in the background when Mason and the woman are talking and two girls in blue shirts were there the entire time, but when the woman walks away the people in the background are gone. Continuity mistake: Compared to the original location of the lamp when Vann entered the bar, none of the shots showing a portion of the lampshade would be accurate. The close-ups of Casper show a portion of the lampshade too close and at the wrong angle. When the camera shows front views of Casper and Vann, the lamp should be visible but is not. A back view of Casper shows part of the lampshade to her left, but doesn't fit where it was located before this. Likewise, a side view of the bartender does not include the lampshade. A later shot of the bartender shows a portion of the lampshade and part of the jar of pickles, which is now in front of him, up too high, and can't be on the edge of the bar. In an apparent attempt to use the lampshade for continuity, it was used way too much and rarely, if ever, at the right angle, height, and position. (00:04:16 - 00:05:50)

Continuity mistake: When Vann enters the bar, his view shows the bowling pin tap near the center of the bar, with the jar of pickles behind it centered on the bar, and a lampshade some distance past the bartender (or possibly on the innermost edge of the bar). When Vann is walking along the bar before he sits near the far end, the pickle jar is now touching the outer edge of the bar close to Casper's elbow resting on the bar, and the lamp is on the bar close to the bartender. Continuity mistake: Ben caught his T-shirt in his right hand when the girl threw it to him in the swimming pool, but Ben is with his empty right hand in the pool. When Ben got out of the pool, he picked up his T-shirt. (00:32:18)

Continuity mistake: Ben overslept so grabbed a green T-shirt off his bed and got into the truck where his dad was waiting to drive to work. At work, Ben changed into his blue polo work shirt. Continuity mistake: The vent cover in the upstairs bathroom looking down into the wine cellar is different compared to looking up to it from the wine cellar plus the two views cannot be of the same vent. In the upstairs bathroom, the vent is white (or off-white), is low on the wall (which is also white), and has a more elaborate design. Looking up from the wine cellar, the vent is blue, on the floor/ceiling, and has a simpler design. (00:50:25)
