Trivia: On the original VHS and Paramount Widescreen DVD releases, the synopsis on the covers says this, "A thrilling, action packed mission for the Starship Enterprise". As anyone who knows their Star Trek, this was the one movie that didn't feature the Enterprise in any capacity except as a flashback at the start and a brief reprisal at the end, the Klingon Bird of Prey was the ship they had the adventure in.

Trivia: When the veterans are shown leaving the ship to go and set up an outpost on Arcadia, in the foreground you can see a nameplate on some debris. It says "Lewis", from the Lewis and Clark ship in Event Horizon, another Paul WS Anderson movie.

Trivia: When the bus crashes through the video rental store, one of the signs that are knocked over is for a movie called 'Tsunami Surprise'. There is no such movie. Almost other signage in the building is for movies that exist. Another exception is on the other side of the movie store's entrance - a movie poster for King Lear starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was commissioned from Drew Struzan, the legendary artist behind movie posters like Star Wars, by Spielberg as a bit of ribbing on Arnold and a reference to the fake movie Hamlet, part of Arnold's movie library in The Last Action Hero.

Trivia: The main protagonists in the movie are called the Akira. This is a homage to Akira Kurosawa who did "Seven Samurai", of which "Magnificent Seven" and this movie are based on.

Trivia: The sound effect used for the toy time machine car as it leaps off the table and runs across the garage floor is the same as the sound of the Time Machine as it propels itself through time in the 1960's version of The Time Machine. (01:10:20)
