Corrected entry: After the Tooth Fairy carried in the soon-to-be Mrs. Claus, he takes off straight up. You can see the wire in the window that he is attached to.
Correction: The "wire" that you see is the rope Charlie came down on. It's visible during the whole scene.
Correction: In the previous shot you can definitely see Comet in the back of the sleigh. You even see his antlers sticking up, behind Santa.
