Continuity mistake: At 1972 Canyon Drive as he talks to Evelyn Mulwray, the curtain above Jake's head extends almost halfway to the center of the rod. Earlier when we first saw it, it was pushed all the way to the left side. (01:48:40 - 01:52:20)

Continuity mistake: In the archaeologists office at the beginning of the movie Father Merrin looks at the clock on the wall as it stops. The first time we see it the pendulum is to the left of center but the second time we see it, it's dead center and it hasn't been touched. (00:06:45)

Continuity mistake: As Gen. Hanley's car pulls up to "Operation Sky Hook" there are two guards at the post, one is standing by the car and one is moving inside the building. In the next shot as the guard walks into the building to call Dr. Marvin, he's alone. (00:08:40)

Continuity mistake: At Ida Sessions' house, Lieutenant Escobar shows Jake the photos that he took at Echo Park earlier in the movie. If you look closely though, Katherine Cross never holds her hat in front of the bridge as we see in the third photo. The other photos also have problems. (00:14:10 - 01:41:40)

Continuity mistake: At 1972 Canyon Drive, Evelyn Mulwray says to Jake after he walks threw the door, "Have you slept?". The pearl necklace she's fiddling with is over her collar in one shot and under it in the next. (01:47:45)

Continuity mistake: After Jake walks threw the door at 1972 Canyon Drive the mirrored makeup case in front of the staircase moves between shots. At first the top is angled slightly, then when we see it again it's opened fully and straight up in the air. (01:48:10)

Continuity mistake: Jake goes back to Evelyn Mulwray's house only to find the gardener working in the back yard. As he walks over to talk to him the shadow on the circular brick walkway goes from half shaded to totally shaded between shots. (01:46:05)

Continuity mistake: At Ida Sessions' house, Jake's tie has been retied and his collar changes if you look at them throughout the scene. (01:42:30)

Continuity mistake: Chris picks up a newspaper as she tells Carl, "We've got rats in the attic". In the next shot the newspaper is unmoved. (00:12:40)

Visible crew/equipment: At "Operation Sky Hook" Dr. Marvin listens back to the tape recording that he was making as the UFO flew over their car and if you look closely the spool of tape on the recorder is at the halfway spot. Earlier as he was making the recording the spool of tape was at the end. (00:05:15 - 00:07:45)

Continuity mistake: When we first see her, Chris MacNeil lays in bed editing her script. The lamp above her head changes position between shots after she turns it on. (00:10:50)

Continuity mistake: Jake spots Hollis Mulwray's glasses in the pond and the gardener goes in to fetch them. At first we see the glasses sitting on a rock in about six inches of water with hardly any seaweed around them. In the next shot he reaches in about two feet of water and pulls out the glasses encrusted in seaweed. (01:46:35)

Continuity mistake: The phone on the right of the archaeologist's desk moves between shots in the close-up. The first time we see it the connector chord is flush with the desk but the second time we see it the chord is above the desk and no one goes near it. (00:06:45)

Continuity mistake: At Ida Sessions' house, Lieutenant Escobar shows Jake his phone number on the wall above her phone. In the close-up of the phone number there's a card stuck in between the wall and the phone and if you look closely the left edge is frayed. When Jake walked into the room it wasn't. (01:41:00)

Continuity mistake: Gen. Hanley drives up to "Operation Sky Hook" and stops in front of the guard post. At first he's in direct sunlight than in the next shot as he hands his ID to the guard, he's in the shade. (00:08:40)

Continuity mistake: Chris says to Carl, "We've got rats in the attic" and he replies, "Rats?". All the items on the table to her left have been rearranged between shots as she turns towards him. (00:12:40)

Audio problem: At 1972 Canyon Drive, Jake pulls into the driveway and the sound of screeching wheels continue even after the car has stopped. (01:47:10)

Visible crew/equipment: Gen. Hanley drives up to "Operation Sky Hook" and the guard says, "No one allowed in, sir. There's a rocket taking off now". You can see the reflection of the cameraman in the side vent window of the car. (00:08:45)

Continuity mistake: When Jake walks into Ida Sessions' house he looks into her bedroom and the shade on the left window is three quarters of the way up and in the dark. Several shots later we see this spot again and now the window is lit up and the shade is halfway down. (01:38:55 - 01:42:10)

Continuity mistake: As the Marvin's listen to the tape recording of the UFO, Dr. Marvin stops the recorder and uses his finger to re-wind it. If you look closely he goes way past the spot where the sound started. (00:08:00)
