Corrected entry: At the end of the film Ripley uses her acidic blood to burn a hole in the ships glass window the problem is, as any High School Chemistry student will know, acid doesn't react with glass.

Jurassic Park (1993)
Corrected entry: When Timmy is near the top of the fence, just before the electricity turns back on, he has his head and shoulders through the fence, with the wires resting against his armpits. Since the shoulders are the widest part of the body on a person of normal weight, a hole wide enough for your shoulders is wide enough for the rest of you. The spaces in the fence are somewhat circular--they are at least as tall as they are wide--so why is Timmy climbing the fence in the first place? He could have just crawled through at the bottom! (01:39:10)
Correction: At first glance, this is correct. Timmy could fit through the fence wires that are CLOSE TO THE TOP, but earlier when the characters are standing at the base of the fence you see Grant put his face practically touching the fence while he's attempting to make the hole larger and its clear that his head wouldn't stand a chance of fitting thru the hole and i seriously doubt that his head is larger than a ten-year old's shoulders. A possible explanation: the fence they are climbing is labeled as perimeter fence, so likely the holes are smaller at the base of the fence to prevent the small dinos from escaping, but the holes become larger as the fence becomes taller to save on materials a bit as the small dinos obviously couldn't get high enough up on an electrified fence to get through a larger hole towards the top.
Very well, but fact of the matter is, Somewhere on that fence, Timmy could have slipped through, and saved himself from having to climb all the way to the top, saving time, energy and at least some of the risk of climbing to great height.

Avatar (2009)
Corrected entry: During the big bombing of the tree, Michelle Rodriguez refuses to take part and steers the helicopter away, stating that she does not want to be part of that. Even in the distant future, such behaviour would be called insubordination and have her court-martialed. However, she is still able to free Jake and has access to the helicopters in the hangar.
Correction: They are employees of a private company and would not be court martialed. They all work for RDA.
Court-Martial or Suspension with possible Firing, she is still disobeying orders of some sort, in a combat situation (there are security companies powerful enough to constitute private armies, with similar rules, regs and discipline), and would therefore be punished in some form all the same.
Who says she was not punished? Maybe she got reprimanded.

Jurassic Park (1993)
Corrected entry: According to the subtitles at the beginning of the movie, the island is 120 miles WEST of Costa Rica. However, at the end of the movie, they are flying into the sunset...in the evening. If they had enough fuel, they'd be heading to Hawaii. (01:55:05)
Correction: God only knows how many REAL islands there are between Jurassic Park and Hawaii, nevermind the fictional islands they could have been headed to (or maybe even a ship). Since we don't know where they're headed, we can't call this a mistake.
Maybe they're headed for an emergency-mobilized boat with a helicopter landing pad (owned or not by Mr Hammond?).

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Corrected entry: Andy plays Mozart over the public address system of the prison. When Hadley finally breaks through the door after the aria is over the needle is still in the first groove. (01:04:45)
Correction: The needle arm automatically returned there at the end of the track.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Corrected entry: Andy's cell wall is unrealistically thick. Andy is seen crawling flat through the tunnel, indicating the wall is thicker than Andy is tall, making it least two meters thick. Prison walls are thick, but not that thick. (01:57:45)

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Corrected entry: The movie supposedly takes place in April, however based on Chicago's climate, it is quite clear that the actual filming was conducted well into the summer months based on how full and leafy all the trees are, not to mention the ivy on the outfield wall at Wrigley Field which does not become fully developed with leaves until late May at the earliest.
Correction: Given the baseball game they went to, the movie took place on June 5.
The baseball game was obviously staged for the film.
The baseball game was definitely not staged for the film. The baseball scenes were filmed during a real Cubs game in September (when filming took place). John Hughes added footage from the earlier June game during editing to make it appear they attended the June game.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie when Ed Rooney is talking to Ms. Bueller he says 'if he thinks he can just coast through this month...' then Ferris says later something about 'a couple of months until we graduate'
Correction: Some, if not most, American high schools tally student grades and absences through the month of, say, April in order to have time to calculate the information they need for graduation near the first of June. If it is near the beginning of April (they don't specifically say), Ferris can try to 'coast through this month' because he knows anything that happens in May won't count, hence 'a couple of months until we graduate' - April, May, and possibly a week or two in June.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Corrected entry: When Ferris and his friends are at the fancy restaurant where his father is eating. They notice him waiting for a cab and freak out and sneak into the cab right before Ferris' father. Why not just wait inside for a minute until he leaves?
Correction: Ferris is confident and daring to the point of absurdity. Several hours later he appears on a parade float, in the view of thousands. To him, sneaking into a cab under his father's nose is a perfectly normal thing to do.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Corrected entry: Near the beginning of the movie, one of the characters states that it is the 17th and the valley would be flooded on the 21st. Yet, throughout the movie, there are too many nights that go by for it to just be the few days when the valley finally floods.
Correction: This might be a character mistake by Pete, a by-product of Everett's lies (after all, he was not actually after his loot, or in prison for any kind of loot-taking crime), or simply explained by sundry delays at the actual construction site (happens all the time even without all the turmoil in the movie); but it also could be that the day and night sequences in the "Flyaway" musical number are simply not spliced perfectly chronologically, and caused the illusion of several days when in fact it may have been less.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Corrected entry: When Everett and company enter the radio station, Everett asks 'Who is the honcho here?' 'Honcho' is derived from a Japanese word for 'group leader' and did not enter American slang until after World War II, by way of Allied occupation forces in Japan. (00:23:35)

Planet of the Apes (2001)
Corrected entry: After the group cross the river, they set up camp and make fires. They are in the middle of the desert and there are no trees as far as the horizon. Where did they get the firewood?
Correction: People on Earth who live in treeless areas have solutions to this, they burn other things, ie. bushes, grasses, dried animal dung. Add to that they just passed out of a thick jungle where there'd be plenty of wood lying around, and they might know of Calima's plants/lack thereof, and think to pack several fires worth.

The Italian Job (2003)
Corrected entry: When the gang celebrate in the Alps before Charlie's surprise, they're sipping Dom Perignon champagne straight from the bottles. It looks like they're drinking water as it's quite impossible to drink champagne from the bottle, the real stuff will foam heavily when it comes out [and especially in one's mouth]. (00:17:40)
Correction: It's possible they are drinking still wine (Dom Perignon does make this, they just don't sell it in the US). You can see into the bottles, they don't have bubbles on the sides. Also, it's possible that the carbonation has escaped by the time we see this scene in their party (we don't see them open the bottles, which seem to be half empty by now). And most likely of All, They are Probably Too High On Victory to Care.

Monk (2002)
Mr. Monk and the End - Part I - S8-E15
Corrected entry: At the beginning of the season 8 episode "Mr. Monk and the End Pt. 1" the scene shows Monk and Trudy prior to the car bombing, together. Monk notices a new present under the tree. He mentions the present to her. However, in the season 4 episode, "Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa", he tells Natalie that he found the gift after Trudy died. Considering Monk's extraordinary gift for memory it seems unlikely that he would have forgotten how he discovered the gift.
Correction: Considering the trauma he went through that afternoon, it's perfectly understandable he would have forgotten. Add to that the fact that Trudy alters his gifts (He was never able to directly solve her murder), and his memory lapse can be totally explained.

Correction: How would you or anyone act if five men were holding shotguns to your back? Who can say if this is strange behavior?

Correction: The acidic blood of the Aliens is never scientifically described onscreen, only compared to highly acidic substances. Because this is an alien biology, it could have an acid-like caustic effect without actually composing what a chemist would describe as an acid. For example, the blood could contain omnivorous microorganisms that consume substances other than the Aliens - it's possible that these could destroy glass as acid does not. Remember, in the first Alien movie, the facehugger, "It secreted an acid that "burned" through Kane's helmet glass."
Phoenix
Hydrofluoric acid does react with glass, conceivably the blood could be partially composed of that.
