Revealing mistake: Just after they dump the tacks out of the window, the Russians' car flies up into the air in a really quite impressive car crash. Just before it flips over though, you can see the huge ramp put in front of it. (00:32:20)
Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)
Directed by: John Landis
Starring: John Goodman, Dan Aykroyd, Frank Oz, Tom Davis, Walter Levine
Revealing mistake: In the big impressive car crash, it is quite clear that most of the cars are empty.
Factual error: When Cable calls his mother in Phoenix from his desk in Chicago, he only dials seven digits, as if making a local call.
Trivia: The police car they use is marked as "K-9 - canine patrol". John Belushi's brother James was in a movie called K-9. He was meant to appear in this, but couldn't due to other commitments.
Trivia: When Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman drop off the Russians, the Perry Mason theme music is playing. Nia Peeples (Lt. Elizondo) was in a Perry Mason TV movie in 1990 (The Case of the Silenced Singer).
Trivia: The studio reportedly forced a number of changes during the production, including adding more fantastical elements (such as the Voodoo witch), toning the film down to a PG-13 and adding a child character to try to make it appeal to younger audiences. Director John Landis and star Dan Aykroyd hated these changes and nearly walked off the film, but begrudgingly agreed to remain on board. They both reportedly aren't very fond of the final film.
Mighty Mack: The suit's real neat, but do I have to wear the hat?
Elwood Blues: These are unsophisticated men. They only respond to fear and the draw of lucre. We elicit this by using iconographic symbols, and psychological intimidation. The way we look together presents a uniform image of strength and organization. Don't say anything. Look mean. No smiling.
Elwood Blues: Duck, give me a mountain tempo in A minor.
Elwood Blues: Stay away from drugs, gangs, and cyberporn on the Internet and you can be President of the United States some day.
Question: What does Buster mean that he'll be put in a foster home with people who don't love him? What's gonna happen to him if he lives with them?
Answer: Foster homes are meant to be temporary. While, hopefully, foster parents will be kind and caring to the children in their charge, they cannot form overly strong attachments that would only cause emotional trauma for a child when they transition to another living situation.
Question: Is it ever specified in this movie or in any of the books or biographies written about the Blues Brothers exactly where, when or how Jake dies?
Chosen answer: No. We only know that he died sometime during his jail term. There's no more explanation after that.

Answer: He was just saying it pessimistically. Although, depending on which reports you read, 1 in 3 children are abused by their foster parents. In addition, many children in the system also get placed into several different homes during their childhood (since fostering children is not the same as adopting them), leaving the children to feel unloved by their foster parents.

I don't know the frequency with which it actually happens, but there are also neglectful foster parents whose sole motivation is the monthly stipend from the state, rather than a genuine interest in their wards' well-being.
