Factual error: While Fletch is riding with the bikers, they stop at a stop sign where a family in a station wagon roll up their windows in fear. A sign at a service center in the background is the Castaic Junction, which is in the greater Los Angeles area. The movie is supposed to be taking place in Louisiana. (01:12:35)
Fletch Lives (1989)
Directed by: Michael Ritchie
Starring: Chevy Chase, Hal Holbrook, R. Lee Ermey, Julianne Phillips
Continuity mistake: When Fletch goes to visit Calculus in his shack, he knocks on the window and sees Calculus sitting in a chair, wearing boots. The next shot, as Fletch is walking inside, Calculus is now wearing socks and no boots, despite never having left the seated position, nor having had any time to slide his feet out of the boots. (00:35:55)
Continuity mistake: When Fletch goes into the Biker Bar it's pouring rain, but when he comes out minutes later and goes riding on a cycle, it's not raining and the ground is completely dry. (01:09:05)
Trivia: Chevy Chase has a scene with actor Geoffrey Lewis in this film. The same year, Chevy played Juliette Lewis' dad in Christmas vacation...who is Geoffrey's real life daughter.
Hamilton "Ham" Johnson: So tragic when this happens to somebody so young and healthy. Was she feeling all right last night?
Fletch: She felt great to me.
Calculus Entropy: Should I be doing anything?
Fletch: No, not really, um... as soon as you get that trunk upstairs and have finished your nap I guess you could fix that step and jump down, turn around and pick a bale of cotton. And while I'm gone see to it Miss Scarlet stays away from the Union army will you?
Ben Dover: Take your pants off.
Fletch: I don't even know your name.
Ben Dover: Bend over.
Fletch: Ben? Nice to meet you, Victor Hugo.
