Continuity mistake: Van Ryberg shoots a grenade, which goes in at an angle from the right of the screen to the left and hits the robot on its right side. Van Ryberg fires another grenade, and this time the grenade travels from the left side of the screen to the right hitting the left side of the robot. The problem is, Van Ryberg didn't move and shot both grenades from the same place, it would be physically impossible for him have hit the robot from both the angles depicted onscreen.
Plot hole: The Sheriff decides to go out in a blaze of glory by flying the helicopter into the robot. The robot has already stopped right next to Van Ryberg and the Doctor, yet the Sheriff still thinks flying a helicopter full of fuel (as witnessed by the huge explosion) is the best way to save his friends. Quite simply, if the robot didn't kill them, the massive fireball from the crash certainly should have.
Other mistake: One of the survivors says "I guess luck is on our side", he then gets hit with two laser blasts that hit him from immediately off to his right. The rest of the group run away, and the camera then cuts back to the exact same shot with the same background, and the robot that fired the laser blasts is now far away in the background. Its makes no sense that the robot would be close to the group to fire the lasers, and then move further away for the next camera shot.
Plot hole: The Sherrif and the two occupants of the police car get away from the black SUV, and the female says "I think we lost it", as that was the intention. Bizarrely, in an attempt to 'lose' the SUV, they park the police car in the centre of the road with the lights on the roof still lit, which then means the SUV finds them easily, making no sense whatsoever.
Other mistake: The Sheriff and Van Ryberg go to the armoury to get weapons, check to see if they are loaded and then leave. Absolutely no armoury in the world would leave loaded weapons racked up, ammunition is always kept separate.
Other mistake: Van Ryberg shoots two grenades from his rifle at the robot, and big fiery explosions are seen. No grenade from that rifle would have fuel type explosion like that.
Continuity mistake: When the NSA guys are taking the Doctor through the military base, in one camera shot they slow down and there's a metal globe ornament on the side of the road. The next camera shot to show outside the car shows them to be fast moving. The next camera shot shows them slowing down again at the same metal globe ornament.
Continuity mistake: Van Ryberg, the Doctor and Madison get picked up in an old Chrysler people carrier, which is distinctly square shaped and with silver alloy wheels. When they get to their destination however, the people carrier has now changed into a Chrysler Voyager with a much more rounded body, and now sporting black steel wheels.
Continuity mistake: When the girl is shot by the robot in between the two yellow diggers, the laser leaves a big red blood patch on her top, but when we later see her dead body on the ground, the big patch has disappeared.
Other mistake: When the group of survivors are walking between the two yellow digging machines, the girl at the back gets shot by a laser. If you watch carefully, she reacts to the shot before she gets hit.
Other mistake: At the end, the narration states that "all computer systems around the globe are temporarily shut down." This might seem plausible were if not for the car that drives and stops into camera shot just as the narration starts, which has a computer to run the engine.
Plot hole: The NSA guy states that Van Ryberg "knows more about remote controlled attack drones than anyone on the planet". A bold claim, considering he was only a Specialist in the Army, would have been trained by someone more technically competent on Reaper and Predator drones, and is not likely to know more about them than the company responsible for their manufacture in the first place, which makes his inclusion in a Top Secret affair unlikely and improbable.
Other mistake: After the Sheriff has destroyed the robot, Madison appears and Van Ryberg spots her and starts smiling at her. Considering this is his ex-girlfriend and her uncle (the Sheriff) has just died, him stood their grinning at her is about as far removed a reaction as there is possible to get. One might at least expect some heart warming dialogue, an embrace, a mention of the Sheriff, but no, through the several shots of the camera flicking between him and her, he just keeps on grinning.
Other mistake: Van Ryberg is supposed to have been a Specialist in the Army. Part of Army training no matter what country that Army is from has basic first aid training, a Specialist would have more than basic level first aid training. Its therefore unlikely he'd make the mistake of pulling out the piece of shrapnel from the Doctors leg, considering it could cause more damage and problems than just leaving it where it is.
Revealing mistake: Just after the girl gets killed by the flying robot between the two yellow digger machines, the rest of the group start firing at the robot. If you watch the robot, the same animation of the robot is repeated over and over again every time the camera cuts back to it.
Continuity mistake: When the Sheriff and the two people in the police car get rescued in another black SUV, the license plate changes from when they are picked up to when the stop at the base.
Revealing mistake: When the Sheriff is in pursuit of the black SUV, there is a particular shot of the Sheriff's car doing a wide right turn and you can see that it's a young bald stunt driver, completely unlike the older, full head of hair Bruce Boxleitner.
Plot hole: Van Ryberg is told that the terra forming plant had C4 laid everywhere, and that it just needed someone to go in there and set it off. Firstly, what Van Ryberg finds is dynamite, not C4, and he also tells Madison and the Doctor that they only have ten seconds to get out. If the timer was already running, then there was no need for anyone to go into the plant to set off the explosives.
Continuity mistake: When the machines start falling out the sky, Van Ryberg and Madison start running away, and if you look on the horizon as they are running, it's all flat ground. However, in the next shot of the machine rising out of the ground, there is now a massive hill in the background that wasn't there in the previous shot.
Other mistake: Since the Doctor got her leg injury, every time you see her walk, she does so with great difficulty, yet after they blow up the terraforming plant, she's running away with no problems at all.
