Continuity mistake: As young Gracie faces off with the bully, in the front shots her hair is all pulled back, yet in most side shots and also when she says, "Now get outta here," her hair is loose on the sides of her forehead. Her tee shirt collar also changes position within these shots. Also, the red folder and blue binder change position in these shots. (00:01:05)
Continuity mistake: Gracie as a little girl calls the boy "wimp", and you see her left plait behind her shoulder. Then, in the next shot you see it in front of her shoulder. The same thing happens with her hair tails when she is talking with Victor before she does the talent demonstration. (00:02:05)
Revealing mistake: In the opening close-up of adult Gracie, her eyes are looking over the faux book entitled 'Essentials of Russian Grammar'. There is a camera lens through the binding of the book in the center of the letter 'o' in the word 'of'. In the next close-up and semi close-up of Gracie, the camera lens is not in the binding, it's just the title of the book. One giveaway, the diameter of the lens in the first shot is greater than the diameter of the 'o' in the subsequent shots. (00:02:20)
Continuity mistake: The back of the Laika Restaurant is first shown when Agent Jerry Grant confirms, "All clear" to McDonald. There's an exterior covered vent with duct tape to the left of the door, many black trash bags, boxes and trash cans. When Matthews hits the Ivan with the trash can, most of these objects are positioned differently or don't exist at all. (00:02:30 - 00:06:25)
Revealing mistake: At the Russian restaurant, on the agent's surveillance monitor in the van we see the blonde Russian start to sit in the first shot. Yet in the next shot in the restaurant we now see the blonde Russian is just pulling his chair out to sit. A surveillance camera CANNOT see what has NOT even happened yet. (00:03:20)
Continuity mistake: When Ivan, Krashow and the other Russian sit, the unoccupied table between them and Gracie is seen. That table is seen again when the waitress walks over to pick up the tip and clear it. The position of the utensils, used napkins, etc., are different in both shots. This is before she touches any dishes. Also, on the table that Krashow leans on as he's choking we see the bread off the board, and the knife under the napkin, but in the next close-up of the table, the bread is on the board with the knife under the loaf. Revealing mistake: Gracie hugs the Russian waitress in order to have a better view of the disc hand-off appear on the monitor. As she raises her left hand that holds the book/camera lens, we see that the digital feed that appears on the monitor stays steady and level, even though she is raising the book/camera lens higher and closer to her face. Obviously the feed that we see on the monitor is not taken from the book/camera lens. (00:04:10)
Continuity mistake: The agents burst into Laika Restaurant wet from the rain outside. There is a difference in how wet they are, specifically McDonald, in the wide shots, semi close-ups and close-ups. McDonald's left sleeve also changes position between the semi close-ups and wide shots. (00:04:40)
Continuity mistake: McDonald and his men burst into the restaurant and Gracie holds her gun out in front of her with both hands aimed at Krashow, Ivan and the rest. In the first shot her braids are in front of her shoulders, second shot behind her shoulders, next few shots in front, then yet again behind her shoulders, and then another shot with one braid in front. Continuity mistake: At the Laika Restaurant all guns are pointing at Krashow, the choking Russian. Before Gracie says, "Sir, he's turning purple," Krashow's watch reads, 3:30. Yet just after she says that, his watch reads 6:40. (00:04:55)
Continuity mistake: In the Laika Restaurant, standing at the back bar, Jerry holds a gun on Ivan's Russian bodyguard with the yellow shirt, seen when McDonald and his men burst into the restaurant. There's a male customer crouched down at Jerry's feet. While Gracie says, "You're not killing anyone, you peanut eating ..." the bar is visible behind them and the man crouching is seen, but Jerry and the Russian bodyguard are not at the bar. Gracie flips Krashow and in the next close-up, Jerry is back at the bar near the crouching guy, with his gun still pointing at the Russian bodyguard, who then shoots Jerry. Then in the next shot, that Russian bodyguard is not at the bar like in the previous shot, only Ivan and another Russian are there shooting at McDonald and his men. (00:05:50)
Continuity mistake: Just after agent Grant is shot, there is a shot of Ivan and the blonde Russian at the back bar shooting at McDonald and his men. In the second shot McDonald and Clonsky crouch down at the table near the front door and are shooting at the Russians . In the third shot McDonald is still seen crouching and shooting at the Russians, but he's now crouching at the back bar and the Russians are now at the kitchen doorway. Revealing mistake: In the opening shootout in the kitchen, the bad guy fires off a few rounds at an officer, the last of which has a delayed reaction, the squib does not detonate til about half a second after the gun is fired. (00:06:20)
Continuity mistake: In her apartment, Gracie drops her bags down, trips near her bed and starts kicking it. The blanket's on the floor in front of the doorway as she heads into the kitchen, which is bright. In the next shot from her front, as she walks towards the kitchen, which is now very dark, the blanket's now on the side of the bed. Also, there's a wicker basket with clothes on the corner of the rug now and her black bag that she dropped earlier is positioned quite differently. (00:07:45)
Continuity mistake: At her apartment, in the close-up Gracie turns on her stereo and we see the table, office chair, plus a cap with an insignia and two video tapes are lying on top of the TV. In the next two wide shots as she boxes, the chair's in a different position, no cap with insignia and no video tapes are on top of the TV. (00:08:20)
Continuity mistake: As Gracie speeds towards Starbucks, we see an the aerial shot of the intersection. There is a large white truck at the corner and there are three yellow taxi cabs waiting at the red light. As the car spins into the U-turn, in these shots there is no white truck, but there is a service truck with a cherry picker at the corner. Then in the close-up of Gracie getting out of the car, there are no yellow cabs, instead there are one brown and two white cars waiting at the still unchanged red light. (00:10:05)
Revealing mistake: When Gracie is speeding towards Starbucks in Manhattan, before she crosses the intersection to make the U-turn, an aerial view of the block in the background is seen. The parked cars are spaced with small islands in between and are parked perpendicularly to the sidewalks. These shots are very obviously not taken in Manhattan, but rather in Austin. (00:10:05)
Continuity mistake: When McDonald is talking about the new 'Citizen' letter that the FBI received, he puts the letter on an overhead projector, and none of the agents have a copy of it. When the shot goes back to the rest of the agents, every agent has a copy - where did they come from? (On the DVD, in the out-takes, we see part of this scene which explains how the agents get their memos, but still a mistake.) (00:12:05)
Continuity mistake: In the FBI briefing room, McDonald tells Matthews to get a team together. In the first close-up, the black folder is under the one white memo sheet. Continuity mistake: As McDonald leaves the FBI briefing room, after Matthews is put in charge, in the first wide shot as Gracie stands up to follow McDonald, the four clocks on the wall are seen.
