Factual error: Basic physics - Hancock throws Michel from a dead stop to above cloud level in about eleven seconds. The clouds are bog standard cumulus which form at around 7,000 metres in temperate zones. This means that Michel accelerates to about 700 metres per second instantly, from a dead stop. Obviously he cannot accelerate during his ascent, so his starting speed has to be at least that. (In fact he would have to start his ascent much, much faster than 700 metres per second as he would be constantly decelerating due to gravity and air resistance, but it will do as a start point.) Michel accelerates from 0 to 2,520 kilometres per hour - twice the speed of sound - in zero seconds. He would be accelerating at around 5000 Gs, turning him into a very long streak of fine, pink mist.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Mary visits Hancock for the first time at his house, she arrives from the air and crashes down on the ground, after a discussion inside they both walk outside together and Mary is shown getting into a car. In the next shot shown from above the house the car has disappeared and they both fly into the air.
Suggested correction: No, we see her drive up in the car, not fly in. But you are right that when we see them take off the car is missing.
You must have seen a different version of the movie I saw her land there, it's on Netflix.
You're right. I just saw the version on Netflix and she flies in, while the version from disc I have shows her drive up with a minute of dialog between them next to the car that is not in the Netflix version. I find it very surprising that there are two versions with that major of a difference.
An extended cut was released on DVD and Blu-Ray which has a couple extra scenes as well as modified scenes (including Mary driving to Hancock's). Netflix would have shown the theatrical cut version. (Or if I had to venture a guess, the UK release version as Netflix has a tendency to use those versions for some reason).
Continuity mistake: When Hancock puts the woman on the hospital bed near the end of the movie when he walks out he walks into the metal bar holding the window in place and as a result it bends. In the next shot where you see the frame it doesn't even have a scratch let alone being bent.
Visible crew/equipment: When Hancock returns Embrey and his car back to his house just after saving him and then picks up and moves the car onto the drive, you can see the blue crane used in the reflection of the car windscreen.
Continuity mistake: When Hancock is being shown the YouTube videos, on the computer the watermark is on the left. but when it's shown on the whole screen, it's on the right.
Factual error: When the police are cowering behind their bullet riddled cars, the metal on the bullet holes is bent inwards as if the shots had come from the other direction.
Continuity mistake: (Spoiler Alert) the day after Hancock finds out that Mary also has powers, he stabs her with a large fork with two pointy ends. As expected, they do not puncture her skin. The pointy ends bend toward each other, making a triangle shape. But in the next shot, when Mary snatches it from his hand, the tips are no longer in a triangle shape, just bent the wrong way a little. Mary snatches it away by the handle, so we know that she could not have taken it by the points and bent it.
Continuity mistake: When Hancock puts Mary on the hospital bed after she's been shot, the blood on her shirt changes drastically from shot to shot.
Continuity mistake: When Mary visits Hancock in prison with her son, she says it is time to leave. As she reaches down for the boy, his toy dinosaur in in his left hand away from the camera, but as she picks him up it suddenly appears in his right hand facing the camera.
Continuity mistake: In the end, when Aaron and his parents are walking at the fun fair, they are holding an ice cream. The brown Italian ice cream of the boy changes from right hand to left hand between shots.
Continuity mistake: As Hancock enters Ray's house through the hole in the wall, you can see Hancock is not wearing anything around his neck. As this scene progresses, his gold eagle chain is visible at times.
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the movie, Hancock is in bed without shoes on. Then when the attack starts, he goes outside to defeat the enemies wearing shoes.
Continuity mistake: When Hancock tries to hit Mary Embrey with the pans, she turns around, and there is a shot, showing what Mr. Embrey is doing, and Hancock and Mary in the background. Between these shots, Hancock is holding the pans up and then he's holding them down. (00:57:00)
Continuity mistake: When Hancock gets inside the van with the first group of baddies, bullets impact on his face and glasses, yet make no damage. Angle focuses on the baddies and when back to Hancock his glasses are suddenly totally messed up.
Suggested correction: When he's shot at, you actually see the glasses get hit at least 3 times. The right lens, then the left, then the top part of the frame on the left. When the camera is back on the shooters for an extended time, they're still shooting at him, causing more damage.
Revealing mistake: During the scene when Mary is in the hospital and she flatlines, if you look closely at the screen of the monitor the reading says "leads off" meaning that the cardiac monitoring wires are unhooked from her body.
Continuity mistake: When Hancock finds out on the TV that he is going to jail, one second he is not eating a banana but the next he is.
Factual error: During the bank robbery, Hancock throws a metal lamp shade to sever the leader's hand, who is holding a spring loaded, dead man switch. The switch would have released the instant the hand was severed and the muscles relaxed.
Continuity mistake: After Mary reveals herself to Hancock, the next time she and Ray are at the kitchen table, the towel Ray picks up off the table immediately changes completely from the one that Mary uses to try and open the jar.
Other mistake: As Red goes to shoot Hancock, there's no bullets or shells in the cylinder.
Continuity mistake: In the board meeting, Ray holds up the Allheart presentation with his left hand. A second later, it's in his right. And he's moved further down the table. (00:13:20)
