Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

Question: Was the Predator in this film dishonorable at some stage in its life? Its pincer (not sure the actual name) things on its face, one is half gone and he has scars. Is this because he's experienced (hence why he's there) or does he do it because he needs to earn honor back for something (again, hence why he's sent on a suicide mission)?

SWAN1878EFC

Chosen answer: Although not proven, the injuries and the wide array of trophies and equipment may imply a long life of hunting. Further as it is receiving official distress signals from what may have been the home world, it is possible it plays the role of 'clean up crew' to mitigate exposure of Predator activity and lost equipment to prey species.

According to the directors, the injuries were a direct homage to Broken Tusk, the primary Predator character in the original Alien vs. Predator comic book.

Question: How is the predalien able to kill the predators that are on the spaceship where it births, when it shows in the first AVP that there are at least 15 predators on it, not a single one is able to kill it?

goodgood990

Chosen answer: The predator that was sent to kill the predalien, knowing full well what it was going after, was still only able to do so by pinning the predalien down and blowing itself up. Add to that the element of surprise, where the predators 1)did not know there was a predalien on their ship and 2)how powerful the predalien was, and it becomes all too easy for the predalien to pick the predators off.

Question: Why were the aliens protecting the Predalien? My dad thinks it's because the Predalien helped birth them, but I seem to recall them protecting her before she impregnagated those women. Did I miss something?

Brad

Chosen answer: The Predalien was a Queen, those aliens only exist because of her, so just like in Aliens, the drones protect the Queen.

Question: (SPOILER) Any clue to explain that cryptic end phrase 'not for our planet'?

Answer: In the Alien universe the big corporation is Weyland-Yutani. The last scene shows that the company became successful because of technology they came across. Knowing that it came from an alien civilization and in Alien movies on how the "company," Weyland-Yutani attempt to gather more alien technology.

Question: I think there's some 100 years between this movie and "Alien", but is the little girl in the movie supposed to be young Ripley?

Answer: Given that Alien is set in 2122, I think it can be safely said that, no, it's not.

Question: Why do the Predators care about the PredAlien so much? I know it wiped out a few of them and is a monstrosity of a hybrid. However, why did they have it locked up on the ship? There is no way it got to full size (taking a few months I assume) or crawled around as a baby without a single Predator noticing. It must have been locked up, but if it's so bad, why keep it alive?

SWAN1878EFC

Answer: They were not keeping it alive. Once it birthed it went somewhere to hide until it grew to full size. Much like in every other Alien film, the predalien grows to full size remarkably fast. It usually takes less than a day in most situations. Once it grew to full size it began slaughtering the Predators and proved to be more than a match for the average Predator. They were most certainly not keeping the predalien alive purposefully, they had no idea it even existed until it began killing them.

Chosen answer: The predalien, like all other alien species, is a trophy. They were probably keeping it alive so they could hunt it later.

Question: When the pregnant woman has alien eggs put in, do I have it right that she (the character) was expecting quads, and had five eggs put in her? I thought that when they burst out, there were five, but I might be in error.

Answer: Whilst I have no definitive answer for you, it is my belief that the woman was only expecting one baby. The alien just implanted as many embryos as it possibly could inside the woman.

Continuity mistake: When the guy with the predator gun shoots the gate at the end, so they go to the chopper, the wire fence keeps changing its shape in different shots. (01:24:25)

Trivia: The striker vehicle used for filming was a prototype vehicle since they couldn't get a working one from the military. It leaked water constantly from the rain machine and had to be dressed both inside and out to make it appear to be a functional military vehicle.
