On Halloween, Deborah Myers (Sheri Moon Zombie) is called into her son Michael's school after the principal becomes concerned with Michael's behavior, as well as the discovery of a series of Polaroids of dead animals Michael keeps in his locker. Present at the meeting is Dr. Samuel J. Loomis (Malcolm McDowell), a child psychologist, who informs Deborah that Michael displays the warning signs of a psychopath and urges her to allow him to further assess the boy. That night, Michael goes home and murders his mother's boyfriend (William Forsythe), his sister Judith (Hanna R. Hall), and her boyfriend. Deborah returns home to find Michael bloodied and sitting on the porch with his baby sister. Michael is convicted of first degree murder and taken to Smith's Grove Sanitarium, where he is placed under the supervision of Dr. Loomis. Trivia: In the scene where the two janitors first enter Michael's room when he is an adult, when the shot shows Michael and all of his masks, one of them in the middle left resembles the mask from the original 1978 version.
Question: Why does Laurie drop off mail (that her father gave her) to the Myers house, which is abandoned? Why bring mail to an abandoned house?

Answer: Laurie's father, Mason Strode, is a realtor who owns Strode Real Estate, and there's a realty sign post in the front yard of the old Myers house. Mason tells Laurie, "They're coming by to look at it later," so we know he's talking about people interested in buying the old property. When Michael sniffs the envelope we see the Strode Real Estate logo, and it presumably contains realtor's paperwork which is pertinent to the sale of the house, and is meant for the people who will be coming by later.
