Corrected entry: In the shot where Vera Drake removes her wedding ring for the first time in 27 years, her finger shows the ring has left no mark.
Corrected entry: Susan says her father works for the Ministry of Defence. The MOD will not be established for another fourteen years, in 1964.
Correction: According to the MoD website, the Ministry of Defence was one of five departments of state which existed from 1946 to 1964 until four of them were merged into the unified MoD which we know today.
Corrected entry: According to experts, the "flushing out" method of abortion was almost invariably fatal, yet Vera claims to have used it successfully for twenty years, Pamela Barnes being her first failure.
Correction: During the first two weeks of pregnancy, using a medical syringe to flush out an embryo can work as a method of abortion (although, after the first two weeks, it is likely to be fatal). On top of this, Vera never claimed to have used it SUCCESSFULLY - her encounter with the black woman showed us that she doesn't follow up her encounters, all of her patients could have died and she'd never have known.
Correction: Never taken it off doesn't mean she has never moved it around on her finger. Many people with wedding rings do this and it wasn't clear to me from the shot we saw that there was no mark.
