Sin City

Continuity mistake: When Marv pulls back the top of "Gladys" (his gun) in his old bedroom, the top is suddenly shut in the next shot. (Extended Edition DVD).

Continuity mistake: When Yellow Bastard is giving his "Recognize my voice?" speech, whilst pinning Hartigan's face to the floor with his foot, you can tell from his eye line in the first shot that he is a fair distance from Hartigan, nowhere near close enough to have his foot pressed into his face. Yet in the next shot, the foot is in frame, pressing Hartigan's face, as though Yellow Bastard is standing right next to him.

Continuity mistake: In the bathroom scene, as Marv stands up, Lucille's arm (holding the cigarette) goes from pointed up in the air to being down by her side, between shots.

Continuity mistake: When Marv jumps off the top floor of the hotel and grabs onto a rail and then jumps over it to dodge the bullets, if you watch closely, when he lands you can see that the shot is actually made out of two separate shots blended together. Watch carefully as he leans forward after the land, he's closer to the camera in the second shot and his movement is not perfectly synced to the previous one. (00:14:50)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Michael Clarke Duncan has Rosario Dawson tied to the chair, in one shot her left earring is tied next to her neck with the rope holding her to the chair, but in the next shot, the earring is hanging free. The shape of the earring prevents it from simply being pulled from the rope because of how rigid it is.

Continuity mistake: When Marv first meets Lucille, as he pours the pills into his mouth, the cigarette he has goes from having no smoke around it, to a large cloud between cuts.

Revealing mistake: When you see characters in closeups when it is snowing, no snow ever lands on them, because it's all digital.

Revealing mistake: When Miho plugs the barrel, Jackie boy tries to fire, but when he does, the slide fires into his skull area. Notice that the barrel is larger in front. If that slide was straight, then o.k. But, the head of the barrel is larger at the far end (business end). It is not possible for the larger end to pass through the rest of the gun (focus on the bottom part) without every part of the gun disintegrating. (01:01:55)

Continuity mistake: When the girls are searching the dead bodies after Jackie Boy is killed, the position of the girls in the background changes between shots. Specifically, the character Dallas, who goes from kneeling down to standing between several shots.

Revealing mistake: When Jackie Boy's hand is chopped off, you can see some of the blood flying out is CGI and appears to be "flat" and doesn't quite match in with the rest of the shot.

Continuity mistake: When Dwight and Gail are talking just before the attack on Jackie-Boy, the wind is either blowing strongly enough to move her earrings, or not blowing at all, depending on the shot. The changes correspond precisely with the shot changes - it's not just random gusting.

Deadman63

Plot hole: At the end, Hartigan races out to the Roark Farm to save Nancy, where he takes out two guards quietly, with a switchblade knife. As he dispatches the second guard, we see the ruthless cannibal killer Kevin just yards away, inside the house, reading. Hartigan then makes a blunder, starts rushing, and he is shot by a third guard. Hartigan kills the third and a fourth guard with two handgun shots. Obvious question: With three gunshots in rapid succession just outside the remote house, why didn't the hyper-alert and agile Kevin come out and rip Hartigan to shreds? No, the generic contention that "Kevin wasn't concerned with Roark's son" is not an answer. When Marv infiltrated and attacked the Roark compound (twice), Kevin immediately engaged Marv. In both instances, Kevin responded to attacks on the compound without even knowing who was attacking. But Kevin completely ignores Hartigan's attack, which seems like a plot hole.

Continuity mistake: When Lucille takes Marv's cigarette in the first scene, she exhales smoke in one shot without taking a puff from the cigarette.

Continuity mistake: When Jackie Boy is picking up his gun after having his hand cut off, all the carnage and blood that occurred behind him (Miho slicing up his buddies) almost entirely disappears. The only sign of it happening is the body of the decapitated man in one shot. Then everything seems to disappear for several minutes.

Suggested correction: The car is definitely visible in a couple of shots, and remember three of the guys did not make it out of the car before they were killed.

Audio problem: When Bruce Willis is in hospital with an IV and nasal oxygen, we can hear the sounds of a respirator - the air going in, the respirator filling with air - but no respirator is present, and Bruce isn't sharing his room with someone else.

Audio problem: When Dwight deduces that there is a spy among the girls in Old Town, there is a noticeable shift in the audio when he says "But first we gotta get our hands on Jackie Boy's head before it gets to wherever it's going and this whole situation blows wide open." The last three words of the line sound like they were re-dubbed.

Continuity mistake: After Miho saves Dwight from the tar pit, During this scene Miho is black and white, but in Dwights first closeup you can see Miho's head in the background, her skin is tan/brown color. This was due to special effects changes as originally Miho's skin was colored in that scene and in that shot they forgot to change it. (01:13:40)

Marv: I don't know why you died, Goldie. I don't know why and I don't know how. I never even met you before tonight. But you were a friend and more when I needed one. And when I find out who did it, it won't be quick and quiet like it was with you. It'll be loud and nasty - my kind of kill. And when his eyes go dead, the hell I send him to will seem like heaven after what I've done to him. I love you, Goldie.

Trivia: Because everything was shot against a green screen, some bits of colour proved difficult. Yellow Bastard especially was hard, as yellow bleeds into the green screen and can't be separated cleanly. To get around this, Robert Rodriguez painted him blue, then turned him yellow in post production.

Chosen answer: I think we can safely assume that "The Man" kills Becky in the elevator, yes. But unlike the first woman, Becky had done something to piss off a lot of people (basically betraying all the girls working in Old Town), and they sent him to eliminate her.
