Sin City

Chosen answer: I think we can safely assume that "The Man" kills Becky in the elevator, yes. But unlike the first woman, Becky had done something to piss off a lot of people (basically betraying all the girls working in Old Town), and they sent him to eliminate her.

Answer: It's the same as the one in Resevoir Dogs, but I dont know about the one in Pulp Fiction.

Answer: Not much is given on Miho's story in the graphic novel. Some is given in the story "A Dame to Kill For" where Dwight explains he saved her life once. Frank Miller in the extended cut DVD commentary stated she was a demon, but that is never mentioned in the story.

Question: Why did Becky lead Rafferty and his friends into a trap? They went to Old Town looking for some fun and weren't causing any trouble at the time.

Answer: She wasn't leading them into a trap. He was stalking and harassing her despite the fact that she was repeatedly rebuffing his advances. The girls of Old Town look out for each other, so when Rafferty pulled his gun on Becky and told her to get in his car, he sealed his own fate.

Question: Jack and Marv were both innocent men who were falsely accused of crimes they didn't commit. Since they both know this why in the world did they both sign false confessions claiming they were the ones who broke the law?

Answer: Marv signed the confession since they threatened to kill someone close to him. Jack confessed so he can get out of jail quicker.

Question: While re-watching "Sin City" on HBO recently, I realised that the closed captioning for this film has been noticeably censored. While the audio track seems intact, every instance of the word "fag" results in that entire line of dialogue being omitted from closed captioning. Is this strangely selective closed captioning censorship featured on the original "Sin City" DVD, or is this HBO's own particular brand of censorship?

Charles Austin Miller

Chosen answer: The word "fag" is only used once in the entire movie, spoken by Becky who refers to a club called the Amigo as a "fag joint." The omission in the subtitles might just be an oversight. HBO is known for having original content that pushes the envelope of what people consider to be tasteful (such as "Game of Thrones" and "The Sopranos") so it's highly unlikely that they would be resorting to censorship.

Answer: If you get the this version of Sin City, on the special features you can watch the whole movie speeded up to 15 mins, in its green screen version. http://www.amazon.com/Sin-City-Unrated-Two-Disc-Collectors/dp/B000BCKFWK. That will show you which actors were actually together and which were just composited in later.

Question: What is the story about Miho's victory-cross-shaped shuriken? Any relation to her later shooting the likewise-shaped tattoo out of the head of a henchman?

Answer: Miho's shuriken is an actual Japanese weapon, whereas the symbol on the henchman's head is a swastika. There is no relation between the two.

Question: How did Kevin kill Goldie without leaving a mark on her?

Answer: Seeing how quiet and skilled at killing Kevin is, it is not unlikely that he managed to creep up and, while clamping a hand over her mouth, inserted a syringe with a fast-working poison. Another, more cinematic, possibility is that he used his martial arts skills to strike certain pressure points with his fingertips, killing her instantly.

Question: During the section toward the end where Bruce Willis is arriving at the farm to rescue Nancy, we see Elijah Wood sitting and reading the bible in the house. Since he is a friend of the yellow freak's family, why doesn't he do anything to stop Bruce Willis? He certainly helped when Mickey Rourke was around but this time he just sits and does nothing and I'm a little confused as to why. If someone could help me I would really appreciate it.

Answer: Elijah Wood's character is shown in the house, distracted as Bruce Willis sneaks by. Perhaps he doesn't do anything because he doesn't know what's going on.

Question: Who was the man that was with the woman in the red dress, and why did he kill her?

Answer: Josh Hartnett is known as 'The Man' and is a professional hitman. He killed the woman in the red dress because she hired him to do so, which is why he said 'I won't know what she's running from' and 'I'll cash her check in the morning.'

Question: Is the music on the trailer original music from the film? If not, can someone let me know what it's from?

Jon Sandys

Chosen answer: It's an instrumental version of a track called "Cells" by a group called "The Servant".
