Continuity mistake: When Ryan video records his ex-girlfriend on his cell phone and the recording is later replayed, the angle from which he held the phone to record her face is different from the angle that is shown on the view screen of the phone. (00:06:35 - 00:10:25)
Continuity mistake: When Ryan is attempting to drive around the bus that cut him off, he is holding the wheel with both hands and carrying on a conversation in one shot. The following shot has him holding the wheel with one hand and talking on the cell with the other. (00:24:55)
Other mistake: Ryan drives the stolen security car through the construction site and over muddy slopes and potholes, and the car becomes saturated with dirt and mud covering the hood, the roof, and the sides of the car, but as he exits the construction site and pulls into the phone center parking lot the camera pans around to the driver's side and his window is rolled all the way down, but somehow Ryan does not have a speck of dirt on him or his clothes. (00:26:25)
Continuity mistake: When Ryan drives through the construction site, he hits a puddle of mud that splashes up on the windshield so he puts on his wipers. The very next shot shows that the entire front of the car is clean. (00:26:25)
Continuity mistake: After Ryan carjacks the lawyer for the first time a truck smashes into the security car blowing it up. Before the shot of the explosion the lawyer is sitting in the car without dark glasses. After the explosion it cuts back to the lawyer's car, however you can see in the rear view mirror that the person sitting in the driver's seat is wearing dark glasses. (00:38:55)
Other mistake: This mistake occurs in the scene where Ryan (Chris Evans) has just stolen the lawyer's car and is pulling into a tunnel. When Jessica (Kim Basinger) speaks, the English subtitles read "You can't loose me", instead of the grammatically correct "You can't lose me." This also happened earlier in the police stairwell. (00:39:55)
Factual error: In the film, Ryan is supposed to be going to LAX, but when he enters the airport, you can see that it is not LAX. (00:41:00)
Revealing mistake: During Sergeant Mooney's second visit to the Martin home, he kicks over the fishbowl in order to divert Bayback's attention to him shooting at her. When she falls backwards after being hit, her arm pulls open her jacket and you can see that the blood spot was already there. (Go frame by frame) (00:58:10)
Other mistake: When Ethan and Ryan fight in the boat shed you can see that one of Ethan's hits doesn't go even nearby Ryan's face and still he falls! (01:19:45)
Other mistake: The video quality on the phone would not be as good as the film makes out. In fact, as far as I know, no mobile phone has that quality. The fact that they would then be using the video he filmed off the camcorder as evidence just makes no sense, as you definitely wouldn't be able to see anything on the phone anyway.
Factual error: When Ryan is waiting for Jason Statham to call him back, the ringtone heard is polyphonic. The type of phone Ryan has plays monophonic ringtones only.
Other mistake: When you see the recording of Ryan's ex-girlfriend speaking his cons, she says them in a different order than when she first said it.
Continuity mistake: In the final fight in the boathouse under the pier, Ryan and the two bad cops are fighting and knocking each other down but none of them get sand stuck to them, even though Ryan came straight to the boat house after just jumping in the water off of the pier. In fact, he doesn't even appear to be wet at all.
Factual error: Mooney is trying to distract Bayback in the Martins' house. He knocks the firstborn with the goldfish in it over, smashing it. Then proceeds to shoot and kill her. In a later scene the same fish is seen in a wine glass as he hands it to an EMT. No way it would still be alive after being out of water so long.
Chosen answer: His Nokia phone has a video recorder on it. He simply records the display on the camcorder with his phone.
XIII
But the video on his phone was too clear, not like he recorded the video on the camera but like he downloaded directed to the phone.
