Continuity mistake: When Scott and Cooper meet up with Jamie and Jenny in Paris, at the end of their conversation Jamie says "Let's go to the Louvre." When he says this his book is down by his side. In the next shot he has the book open in front of him. The shot changes again, and again the book is down by his side. (00:29:05)

Continuity mistake: Madame Vandersexxx writes the safe word starting in the middle of the slip of paper, but when Cooper looks at it later, it starts on the left side of the paper. (00:50:20 - 00:51:30)

Phoenix

Deliberate mistake: When Madame Vandersexxx writes the safe word onto the piece of paper, she writes it way too fast and scribbly for it to be perfectly written as shown when there is a close up of it when Cooper is reading it.

Continuity mistake: When the group is at the dinner table in Paris, Jenny says "We can go to Denmark," and Cooper has his wine glass in his hand. In the next shot we see Cooper, and his arm is down with no wine glass. In the next shot, the glass is back in his hand again. (00:33:20)

Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie while Cooper is hugging Jamie at the airport, Jamie switches the bag he is holding from his right hand to his left hand. When the shot changes, the bag is back in his right hand. (01:23:35)

Other mistake: When Scotty and his friends sit in the train driving from Crans Sur Mer to Amsterdam, Scotty reads his e-mails from Mieke again. However, most of the e-mails make no sense or are not written as if from one pen pal to another (e.g. in one e-mail, a 'Sandra' is asked how her job is going). (00:43:30)

Factual error: When the guys drive from Bratislava to Berlin it shows them driving past the Black Forest on the make-shift map. In reality the Black Forest is located in the south-western most corner of Germany near the borders to France and Switzerland, so driving in a more or less straight line from Bratislava to Berlin would make them miss the Black Forest by about 550 km (342 mi).

Tanngrisnir

Character mistake: The name on the sign of the pub/private members club of the Manchester United fans is spelt incorrectly: It should read "The Feisty Goat" but Feisty is misspelled on the sign as "Fiesty" instead.

Factual error: When the guys fly from the USA to London, UK, they fly with the German airline Lufthansa. The same airline takes them from Rome, Italy, back to the USA. Lufthansa is only allowed to directly connect US cities to German cities, not including third countries.

Factual error: In the very beginning of the trip, a map of Europe is shown. It shows Bosnia and Herzegovina as a separate country, yet it shows Croatia and Yugoslavia as one country. Bosnia and Herzegovina split from Yugoslavia after Croatia, so if Croatia and Yugoslavia are a single country, then Bosnia and Herzegovina should not be separate either.

Factual error: When Scott and Cooper throw the burning hat in the fireplace, the smoke is seen coming out of the chimney in the Sistine chapel. Though this adds a bit of hilarity, the chimney is only able to be used when constructed in preparation for the Conclave of all conclaves, the election of the new pope.

Audio problem: When the four friends are in a French restaurant and Scotty, Cooper, and Jenny are trying to persuade Jamie to join them on their quest to Germany, Scotty's line is heard as "I Love Denmark," but his mouth forms the words "I Love Amster," as if he was in the process of saying Amsterdam before the shot changed.

Continuity mistake: On the beach, Jennifer starts to untie her bikini top after taking off her shirt. When her brother yells to warn her and the camera pans back to her, her top is still fully tied.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Scotty and Cooper are waking up on the bus, behind their heads is a shiny soccer trophy where you can see a man holding a microphone and another guy with a camera.

Continuity mistake: When Fiona is dumping Scott, in the background you can see Scott's father walking over to the stand besides Scott's mother. If you look directly behind them you will see an older couple watching them. In the next shot we see a closeup of Scott's parents but there isn't anyone standing behind them. (00:04:25)

Continuity mistake: When the band is playing at the party and Fiona is dancing on stage, she is wearing a red jacket. At one point, we cut to a shot of her swinging her jacket as if to throw it into the crowd, but you never see her take it off. In the next shot, you can see only her back and she is wearing the jacket again. Then the shot cuts back to her throwing the jacket, but again, you didn't see her take it off.

Factual error: There's no way you'd encounter a pub in London dominated by a Manchester United firm/hooligan group (and dedicated to Manchester United). Yes, Manchester United has fans throughout England (including in London), but no pub in London could survive if specifically dedicated to a non-London team and firm. It would have long since been trashed by one of the London firms.

Continuity mistake: In the scene after the party, Burt is on Scotty's computer typing. However, there's already an entire paragraph there and no more words are coming up. Also, a word in the beginning of the paragraph is highlighted for no reason. In the next shot, this highlighted word helps prove a point for Burt. (00:14:00)

Cooper: I'm taking a nap. Wake me up when the train gets here.
Jenny: It says here this town has a famous nude beach.
Cooper: Alright, look, we can't all just lie around all day, we've got to get out there and experience the culture first hand!

Trivia: Not really a mistake, but very interesting. There is not one single Manchester United badge on display in any of the scenes involving the apparent fan club. Neither in the bar, on any of their clothes or even on their open top bus.

Question: When Scotty gets email, it says "mail muthafu**a." Is this something that they did just for the movie or can you get this somewhere?

Tobin OReilly

Chosen answer: It was made for the movie but you can now find it all over the 'net. Try a Google search.
