Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead

Revealing mistake: The scene which introduces Sue Ellen working on her new job at Clown Dog firstly depicts people walking in and out of the shop, while the staff serve at the counter. As one family walks out, a boy turns his head to glance directly into the eye of the camera just as he's about to exit the screen frame. (00:17:50)

Revealing mistake: After Sue Ellen is hired by Rose, the first time she goes to fax papers the back of the fax machine is visible. Only the power cord is connected, no phone line.

Revealing mistake: When Kenny is on the roof shooting the dishes, the sun is behind the house. When the camera shows the actual dishes in the sky breaking, there is a crescent moon in the background. The moon would not be on that side of the sky in relation to where the sun is in the scene, and also the crescent (which always faces where the sun is) is also the wrong direction from where the sun is as well.

Other mistake: When Sue Ellen gets the roses from Gus, the tickets in the card have a date of April 6th 1990. This is suppose to be the summer of 1990, which means the tickets are no good. (01:03:00)

Bryan: Not exactly your dream job, eh?
Sue Ellen "Swell" Crandell: Got that right. You think I woke up this morning and said, 'Gee, I'd love to scrub fat vats! I'd love to smile and work with raw meat'?

Trivia: The house in the film was actually a very nice-looking and well-kept house in a wealthy area. It was purposefully trashed and "dumbed down" to look like a run-down "poor family" house just for the film.

Question: When Sue Ellen is shown heading to work, wouldn't she be headed into the city, since Kenny says they live in "the boonies"? But she is shown leaving the city, envying the group of teens in the car next to her, who appear to be headed to the beach (also leaving the city).

Answer: People in LA commute in all sorts of directions for work. And the freeway you see is the 405 in West LA (not the "city" - or Downtown where she worked). This freeway would not even be her direct route anyway. All just made up in the film.
