Aladdin

Continuity mistake: In the Arctic Wasteland, the tower rests very close to a cliff with the window high up on the side. During the scene, the window keeps changing locations, especially relative to how much the tower has rolled.

Continuity mistake: When Aladdin and Abu have arrived in the arctic wasteland, Aladdin catches Abu's hat, but it then disappears. He finds Abu and stuffs him under his vest for warmth, and when Abu emerges he has his hat again.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: In the Cave of Wonders, Aladdin and Abu have encountered the Magic Carpet. Aladdin says to Magic Carpet, " You see, we're trying to find this lamp". At that point, Abu, now on Aladdin's back, piggy back style, is enormous, and totally out of scale. Abu's head is nearly equal in size to Aladdin's head, and it is easy to make a side by side, or rather" Head to Head", comparision. Consider the arctic wasteland scene where Abu is small enough to fit under one half of Aladdin's tiny vest to warm up. Abu is drawn at least 250 percent too large in this shot.

Continuity mistake: Jasmine approaches the little boy in the marketplace, he is shown to be very tiny as he tries unsuccessfully to reach over the edge of the apple vendor's stand for an apple. Jasmine says "you must be hungry". The boy's head is now level with the stand, and as he runs away he is much taller, ample height to have snatched the apple in the first place.

Continuity mistake: When Aladdin and Abu are on the path through the treasure in the Cave of Wonders, the Magic Carpet startles Abu. The background changes from heaps of coins to an assortment of shields, boxes, plates, jugs, and armor. They're still standing in the same place.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: Aladdin has pole vaulted to the second rooftop. He starts to place a board across the gap for Jasmine to cross. As Aladdin positions the board to drop it, To the left against the wall are four boards. Two medium, one short and one very long. As the board hits the first building to make the bridge, Jasmine unexpectedly pole vaults over to the second rooftop. While she is in flight, there are now only two boards against the wall. One medium and one short.

Continuity mistake: After Abu is changed into an elephant, he is still wearing his purple vest. When the guards seize Prince Ali in the palace gardens on Jafar's orders, we see Abu, as elephant, is tied up and hanging in a net-like rope restraint from a palm tree. His vest was not drawn onto his figure, under the ropes.

Continuity mistake: When the guards are chasing Aladdin up a scaffold, they throw their weapons up and lodge them in the post. Then they shake the scaffold and the weapons fall out, many point down. These weapons would have impaled the guards below.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: Aladdin presents himself as Prince Ali to the Sultan by flying down directly in front of him, about a foot or two away. After Jafar closes the doors to the throne room, Ali and Carpet are now at least 15-20 feet farther back.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: After the One Jump scene, Aladdin gives his bread to an urchin girl and walks past Abu into the alley. Abu donates his bread as well, but when he rejoines Aladdin he runs through a dark room, not an alley.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: When the Cave of Wonders has closed trapping Aladdin inside. Jafar, in disguise as the old man, looks up and says "Yes." When he does the bizarre crooked teeth are drawn straight and perfect for a second. Later he rips off the soft outer mask and his very crooked prosthetic teeth come with it. Every close-up of Jafar as the old man has shown the bizarre teeth to be fully in his mouth. He should have needed to remove them like dentures.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: Sultan has just entered Jasmine's room and announced that he has found her a suitor - "you will wed Jafar". All of the pillars in Jasmine's room are a deep bronze tan color with wide dark red bands, edged by bright gold. We see several of them as Jafar and Sultan enter Jasmine's room. The pattern is very obvious when we first see Prince Ali leaning against a column with this coloration. As Prince Ali storms up to Jafar to declare "he tried to have me killed", the pattern and color of ALL the columns in Jasmine's room have changed to gold with much smaller and lower bands of pink, and now each column has a large hanging lantern. The columns stay with the new pattern and coloration until the end of the scene. The lighting in the scene hadn't changed to account for the new coloration, and even if it had, that couldn't account for the difference in layout, design and lanterns on the columns.

Continuity mistake: When we first see Aladdin in the market place, the canopy to the right of the melon booth (where Aladdin is seated) is yellow with a flat top and no fringe. As Abu drops down, it is now reddish orange. When Abu is snatching the melon, the canopy yellow and has a large hanging curtain.

Continuity mistake: In the opening of the Aladdin in the Dungeon Scene, The camera pans straight down at Aladdin. To the left of Aladdin is a pile of large pots. Directly next to Aladdin is a Large Platter about 3 feet across and a jug standing up next to it. Suddenly as the camera approaches Aladdin closely, the size of the platter and the bottle instantly shrink, on camera, to dinner plate size and cola bottle size, and are just to Aladdin's leg on the left of the frame. After that camera shot,we never see the pots, that plate or that bottle again. Now the floor is totally empty everywhere in the dungeon.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: Aladdin has just jumped off a rooftop as being chased by palace guards. He has gone through several clothes lines along the way. He speaks to two ladies after he lands. One lady says "Getting into trouble a little early today, aren't we Aladdin?" He gathers a piece of material over his head as a disguise as he remarks, "You only get in trouble if you get caught". Just then a guard seizes him from behind, leaving the disguise fabric behind. As the fabric falls away, he is not wearing his hat. But when the shot changes and Aladdin says" I'm in trouble" the hat is back on.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: Jafar is in the throne room on his knees before the Sultan while being questioned about the "Beheading" of Aladdin. While Jafar is in the kneeling position he is holding his snake headed staff next to him upright in his left hand. The length of the staff has become only about 3 feet high. When Jafar later stands up, it is restored to it's original length. The staff can't fold up or telescope like a car antenna. It is shown to be solid and sturdy many times, notably when Jafar uses it to try to prevent the Sultan's Magic Carpet Ride around the Throne Room. Jafar pins the Magic Carpet down with a thud then Sultan forcefully kicks it away.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: When Aladdin is on Magic Carpet flying desperately toward the mouth of the cave, from the outside the tiger mouth is roaring and contorting, but it is still from the inside.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: The scene that begins with Jasmine in her room brushing her hair after the Magic Carpet Ride. Aladdin walks in and confronts Jafar about trying to have him killed. Two guards seize Jafar. The guards are roughly the same size. The one on the left is about 2-3 inches shorter, but very robust and overweight. After Jafar throws the vial to create clouds of smoke, allowing him to escape, the two guards are now shown holding each other. They release each other to go after Jafar. Now the one on the left is 12-14 inches shorter than the one on the right. He has lost all his upper body bulk, and is barely overweight now.

Mike Wotton

Continuity mistake: When Jafar sees Aladdin in the reflection of Jasmine's crown he turns toward him and shots an energy ray of magic at him. Jasmine rushes to stop Jafar and the crown she is wearing simply vanishes for the remainder of the movie.

Continuity mistake: The tiger bites the seat off the suitor's trousers, allowing the viewer to see his polka-heart boxers. When we see the tiger in the courtyard, he has a part of the same boxer shorts in his mouth. So if he bit off the seat of the trousers, shouldn't he have purple cloth in his mouth? (00:11:45)

Genie: But oh, to be free. Not to have to go "Poof! What do you need, "Poof! What do you need, Poof! What do you need?" To be my own master. Such a thing would be greater than all the magic and all the treasures in all the world. But what am I talking about? Let's get real here, that's never gonna happen. Genie, wake up and smell the hummus.

Question: When Jasmine works out that Prince Ali is Aladdin (the boy from the market), why does she get angry at him? Shouldn't she be happy that he's actually alive, considering Jafar told her earlier on that Aladdin had been sentenced to death and killed?

Heather Benton

Chosen answer: She's upset because she thinks Aladdin lied to her twice about everything - first by pretending he was Aladdin, then by lying in the guise of Ali.
