Continuity mistake: When Sarah and Tom enter their room at the Pensione, she puts her black bag with duct tape down on the chair and placed her coat on top. Then a piece of ceiling plaster falls to the floor. In the close-up, the plaster is half off the rug and the black bag with duct tape is also seen on the chair. Then in wide shot the plaster is entirely on the rug and the black bag is back under the coat again. (00:51:20)
Continuity mistake: Sarah looks at the long line to wait for a taxi at the airport. In the first shot the girl in the blue outfit walks by the line of people waiting. Then in the close-up she walks by again. (00:01:55)
Continuity mistake: Tom sneaks into Sarah's bedroom and climbs into bed with her. In the next close-up the comforter and shams on her bed are positioned very differently than in the previous shot. (00:18:55)
Continuity mistake: When Tom bounces the ball for Bags, the reflection on the TV shows the pillows on the bed, but in the next shot the bed is seen and the pillows aren't arranged the same way. (00:11:40)
Continuity mistake: The camera pans the bouncing ball that Bags chases and on the left are two candles and something blue near the globe. In the next shot the blue item is gone and the candle is closer to the edge on the suitcase. (00:11:40)
Continuity mistake: When Tom tosses the ball, Bags runs after it and in the first shot he runs past the rug. Then in the next shot the camera pans the rug in front, from the POV of Bags, who hasn't reached the rug yet and in the next shot, Bags is still on the middle of the rug. (00:11:40)
Continuity mistake: Tom wraps a blanket around his waist at Sarah's beach house. He walks out to the deck and the stripes are wrapped differently. In the next wide shot it's wrapped as in the first shot. (00:09:35)
Continuity mistake: Tom slams his fist down on the answering machine, and in the close-up he picks up the machine with his fingers gripping the top of the machine. In the wide shot he holds the machine with his fingers on one side. In the next close-up his fingers are on top again. (00:05:55)
Continuity mistake: When Tom enters his apt, in the shot from upstairs a bowl of chips is on the corner of a white table and syrup, peanut butter, etc. on the other corner. In the shots downstairs, a pizza box is between the chips and syrup, the corner of which should be seen in the earlier shot. The position of the continents on the globe, the mail on the TV and the things on the plastic white shelves change between these shots too. (00:04:40)
Continuity mistake: Tom walks into his apartment with Kyle sleeping on the couch. The green strap of Tom's duffel appears and disappears on his shoulder repeatedly in consecutive shots. (00:04:40)
Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie Tom and Sarah are on an escalator. At first Sarah is sttod a fair distance behind him, then as Tom gets off the escalator she is almost directly behind him. In the next shot when Tom throws the luggage cart, she way behind again.
Continuity mistake: Tom chases Peter down the stairs with a poker, in the first shot Peter knocks into the luggage at the bottom of the stairs near the two men and woman. In the next shot the woman and one man on the 'left' of the stairs changed positions and the luggage set up is different. (01:18:35)
Continuity mistake: When Tom and Sarah are at Pensione Funicello, Tom starts taking off his red sweatshirt and removes his arm from the remaining sleeve. In the next shot his arm is still in the sleeve as he tries to still take it off. (00:51:50)
Continuity mistake: During Tom and Sarah's wedding scene the mens' boutonnieres change between shots. (00:22:00)
Continuity mistake: Sarah points her finger at Tom and tells him that his nostrils always flare when he lies. In the first shot her white cuff is folded over the sweater but in the next side shot, still pointing, the cuff is down. (00:12:50)
Continuity mistake: When Tom returns to his apartment from the airport his friend is asleep in a chair with a sandwich in his lap. The sandwich is on top of a paper towel. He slides over and the sandwich is still in his lap but now covered by the paper towel. How did the paper towel get on top of the sandwich?
Continuity mistake: On their honeymoon, Sarah and Tom are lying in bed together in the Pensione, Sarah is wearing her necklace with the cross. In the next shot, the chain is there but the cross is not. Then in the next shot, the cross is seen back on the chain. Obviously in the middle shot the cross slid on the chain behind her neck and that is why it's not seen. (00:52:30)
Continuity mistake: After causing the electrical short at the Hotel DuReve, Henri goes with Tom and Sarah to their room. When he reaches the top of the stairs outside their door, he has two buttons closed on his blazer. Yet when he walks through their door he has only one button closed. His hair is different in both shots too. (00:41:30)
Continuity mistake: At the McNerney home, the family is gathered in the living room with Tom and Sarah. In the close-up Willie and Paul stand closer to the lamp between them, than they do in the wide shots preceding and following it. (00:14:10)
Continuity mistake: Tom and Sarah arrive at the Hotel DuReve and look out at the view. In the first shot the strap of her purse is on her shoulder, in the second it is at her elbow, in the third it's at her shoulder again. She does not touch it between shots. (00:36:25)
