Trivia: Amy Heckerling first met with Alicia Silverstone (Cher) at a restaurant. Silverstone had a drink with a straw in it. Rather than picking up the drink, she would leave it on the table and lower her head down to the straw. According to her, Heckerling found this to be "adorable, or weird, some combination of both." Heckerling wanted Cher to be a "hot chick" who also seemed innocent.
Trivia: One of the movie's well-known quotes is "You're a virgin who can't drive." Brittany Murphy later revealed that, at the time of filming and saying the line, she was a real-life virgin who could not drive.
