Factual error: In the very beginning, where the first agent gets killed, the Russian guy that shoots him says, "Zaraza" which means "bastard" in Russian. The subtitles say "I see him." (00:02:00)
Factual error: In the opening scene when the agent is trying to get on the stage and gets shot he is leaning forward, yet he falls backwards into the crowd. (00:03:10)
Factual error: Oddly enough, the double doors of the crisis room where Gibbons makes his entrance have a world map with India scaled wrong (in particular in relation to Sri Lanka and Maldives) and missing New Zealand entirely. (00:04:20)
Factual error: In the beginning of the movie where Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) takes the senator's automatic transmission Corvette, he hops in and immediately pulls the shifter as far back as it will go. The shift pattern goes P R N D 3 2 1. If you pull the shifter as far back as it will go you would be in first gear going forward, but he lit up the tires in reverse. It's definitely an automatic - in slow motion you can see there are only two pedals. (00:06:15)
Factual error: When XXX is chatting with the CIA agent sent with the package, the agent mentions that he graduated MIT 'summa cum laude'. This is impossible, as MIT does not award academic honors to graduates. (00:43:10)
Factual error: When Xander uses the x-ray binoculars, it is impossible for that to work. First it would have to have every single bit of each layer of what he is looking at pre-programmed in it, or it would have to determine what to see through and what to be able to see. (00:44:45)
Factual error: When agent Shaver shows Xander the bandage explosive for the first time he tells Xander to stand behind the wall then detonates the explosive while he is standing next to it. Agent shaver states that the explosive is powerful enough to blow a hole in a steel safe or vaporize a human. The explosive doesn't appear to be a shape charge, so the explosive force should have gone in all directions and hurt or killed agent Shaver. (00:45:35)
Factual error: When XXX is first driving his GTO, looking for the cop, he lines up the blood splatter dart so it is in the barrel, the hammer is not cocked back. The next shot should be the bullet after the dart, not the dart as it is in the movie. (00:49:20)
Factual error: Xander puts a load of those sticky bombs on a line of motorbikes outside the bad guy's house. These bombs had a detonator switch, which Xander has. When he eventually sets them off, the motorbikes blow up in the order that he put the bombs on. These bombs didn't have timers or anything on them, so why would they blow up one by one and not all at the same time? (01:09:50 - 01:20:30)
Factual error: When Xander is seeing through the binoculars what is happening in the basement, he is looking through a brick wall. He would not be able to hear them. (01:13:20)
Factual error: Not only Xander is able to see perfectly through the wall with his X-ray binoculars; he even takes pictures, of a computer screen. That's some serious techno (il) logical miracle. Even better: he snaps these x-ray pictures also using a flash. (01:13:50)
Factual error: Near the end when all the police cars (the ones with blue writing as opposed to green) show up at the castle, some of them are 'Mestska Policie' which means city police or district police in Czech. In Prague these policemen are only responsible for keeping the peace, ie handing out tickets, preventing bar fights, etc. They would not have been at such an important and dangerous raid. (01:34:50)
Factual error: The weapon Xander fires in the basement to kill the sniper with the might of his irony does not make sense (as noted before, it is non-existent and its prop is a modified camcorder). First of all, he is firing it with his back to the wall, and the deflected backblast alone would fry Vin Diesel's arse. Second; it fires a heat-seeking rocket that targets a single lit cigarette completely outside of Xander's range, to the point that the projectile does almost a U turn (way more than 90°); if it just goes for any smallest object wildly off the supposed target range (Vin Diesel is looking at a screen when he points it), then it could end up targeting the launcher itself, heated up by just having fired, or weapons or shells just fired by allies, making it useless in combat. Third; the screen Vin Diesel is looking at...is switched off. (01:38:40)
Factual error: The name of the sub is AHAB, but it's written ANAB, the "H" in Russian looks like a "X." (01:39:30)
Factual error: When Ahab is entering Prague on the river, an aerial shot shows it passing Palackého Square and the Slovanech Cloister, which would mean that it's coming from the South. Yet in the final approach to the bridge when XXX is riding it, it's coming in from the North, with the hill at Letenske Sady in the background. This is all a moot point anyway, since the Vltava river has at least 3 small, man-made falls along its path through Prague, complete with intricate and time-consuming lock systems for river traffic, so unless the Ahab could fly there was no way it could even get anywhere close to town.
Factual error: When Xander is snowboarding in front of the avalanche he reaches up and grabs that bar to stop himself. At the speed he is supposed to be traveling he would have been unable to hold on with his mittens on and even if he could, his arms would have been ripped off.
Factual error: When XXX is taken to meet Samuel L. Jackson at the Opera in Prague he is driven to the front of the Rudolfinum Concert Hall, yet he meets Jackson at either the National Theatre or the State Opera House (it's definitely one of the two), which are across town. Also, the Rudolfinum doesn't produce operas, they are only a concert venue and have a big pipe organ behind their stage.
Factual error: When Xander is snowboarding down the mountain, trying to outrun the avalanche, he is also at one point being chased by the gang on snowmobiles. According to the USSA World Speed Trials at Boonville, NY, the top clocked speed for a Ski-Doo down hill was 127.3mph, and in Marienville, PA, the fastest time for a Ski-Doo on a straight half-mile oval track was 87.0mph. However, the fastest recorded skiing speed was at The Super G Alpine Ski Competition, which was 85mph (men). Therefore, it would have been impossible for Xander to outrun an avalanche, practically with ease, yet have it catch up to the gang on snowmobiles in minutes, even seconds.
Factual error: When X uses the tray to "skateboard" down on the rails of the stairs, how could that tray possibly take his weight? The tray would have either bent in half or snapped in half and would have had X fall crotch first onto the railing.
Factual error: When Xander is riding down the rooftop of the barn in Colombia, he lands perfectly smooth without a sound. Now with a jump of at least 10 feet and at that speed, the motorcycle would at least bounce a bit.
