Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Plot hole: At the beginning of the movie, Hedwig rattles her cage, and Harry says apologetically, "I can't let you out, Hedwig; I'm not allowed to use magic outside of school." But he wouldn't have to use magic to let her out - the key is visible sticking out of the lock on the cage, so all he would have to do is turn the key. (00:01:10)

Plot hole: The paper in Hermione's petrified hand would no way be that loose. It would have fallen out on the way to the hospital wing and the nurse would definitely notice it. (01:51:30)

Plot hole: When Harry and Ron transform into Crabb and Goyle, he doesn't take off his glasses so then Malfoy can comment on them. Goyle doesn't need glasses - Harry's eyesight should've been immediately blurry, and he would have taken them off.

Suggested correction: For all we know Goyle does need glasses and either doesn't realise it or doesn't want to say it. When I was in high school for example, I used to give my glasses to students who couldn't read the board. They didn't wear glasses, but obviously should have had them if they could see better with mine. Plus it is shown from the film the potion Hermione made doesn't change things like internal voice boxes. It's reasonable to conclude it didn't work for eyesight either.

Revealing mistake: Mrs. Weasley might as well knit like a muggle because she's not making any progress with magical knitting. In the Weasley's home and we see the magic knitting, the needle shoves into the hole, but no thread loops around and it is not advancing. The amount that has already been knitted is magic indeed since all the motion shown in the film produces no results. (00:11:25)

Question: At the end of the Chamber of Secrets, Harry gives Lucius Malfoy the diary, showing him that he knows it was him. In the Half Blood Prince we see Dumbledore at his desk mulling over Tom Riddle's destroyed diary - is this an error, or have I missed something? Was it not given back to Malfoy at the end of Chamber of Secrets?

Chosen answer: After Harry hands it to Lucius, Lucius hands it to Dobby to carry. After Dobby is freed by the hidden sock and protects Harry from Lucius, Lucius leaves it behind.
