Dracula
Dracula mistake picture Video

Continuity mistake: When the wolf scares Mina in the movie theatre, her hat switches back and forth from being forward on her head, to being tilted back. It does this in about 5 shots. (00:53:40)

Revealing mistake: After Van Helsing's lecture, there is a quick scene showing Jonathan as the prisoner of Dracula's brides. At the start of the scene, there is a close-up of one of the brides' eye, where you can see the edges of her contact lens. (00:56:57)

Continuity mistake: When Dr. Seward and Van Helsing run into Lucy's bedroom, in the first shot, she is lying sprawled on her bed with her head resting against the pillows at the top of the mattress. In the next shot, she is lying in the middle of the bed, about a meter away from the pillows, with her legs going over the edge of the bed. (00:59:10)

Catwalk

Continuity mistake: When Van Helsing performs the blood transfusion on Lucy, her dress keeps changing position; most noticeably, she keeps alternating between having one breast exposed and being fully covered up. (00:59:35)

Continuity mistake: When Van Helsing and Dr. Seward prepare to perform the blood transfusion on Lucy, as Seward asks, "You perfected a procedure?", in the background, you can see Van Helsing take off his scarf. In the next shot, he takes it off again. (00:59:45)

Catwalk

Factual error: When Professor Van Helsing is about to perform the blood transfusion on Lucy, he says, "I've only experimented. Landsteiner's method." However, Karl Landsteiner's method was about the ABO blood types, which Van Helsing knows nothing about (in keeping with the novel, the transfusion is carried out without any mention of compatible blood groups), and the first of Landsteiner's groundbreaking articles about the subject wasn't published until 1900, three years after the movie is set. (00:59:47)

Catwalk

Revealing mistake: When Mina and Dracula are at the restaurant, when Mina says, "Tell me, Prince... tell me of your home", they are sitting at a dinner table positioned very close to the wall with the frosted windowpanes, with hardly any room between the wall and the table. However, when Mina says, "With gowns flowing white", she is standing in front of the same window, and the chairs and the table are now sitting much further away from the wall, so that when Dracula walks away from the table to stand beside her a few shots later, he has to take several steps to reach her. (01:04:22 - 01:06:23)

Catwalk

Revealing mistake: When Mina and Dracula are at the restaurant, as Dracula says, "The most beautiful place in all creation", there is an extreme close-up of his eye. If you look at the left side of the purple iris, you can see the edges of Gary Oldman's contact lens. After Mina describes Transylvania's beauty, there is another close-up of Dracula's eye (this time with a different color) and you can once again see the edges of the contact lens on the left side of the iris. (01:04:35 - 01:05:05)

Continuity mistake: Before the wreath of garlic falls down on Lucy's bedside table, it can be seen hanging on the lamp, but in the previous shot, as well as earlier in the scene, there was no garlic on the lamp. When Lucy grabs the vase from the bedside table a couple of shots later, the garlic that fell down on the table has mysteriously disappeared. (01:09:35)

Continuity mistake: When Mina receives the letter after Jonathan escapes, she's holding it in her hands as she begins to climb the stairs, but in the next shot, her hands are empty, best seen when Van Helsing holds her hands. (01:10:00)

Suggested correction: Mina is in two different sets. The first she is in front of a gate. Of course, she has plenty of time to put the letters away.

I have checked the scene and you are absolutely right - Mina is indeed standing at the gate in the first shot, which gives her enough time to put the letters away before walking up the stairs to see Lucy in the second shot. Sorry, my bad.

Continuity mistake: When Mina sits down on Lucy's bed to tell her the news about Jonathan, the pillow under Lucy's back and the one next to it on her left both have a distinctive pattern. In the next shot, both pillows have a different design. When Mina gets up, the first pillows are back, but when Lucy starts noticing the garlic, the second set has returned. Then, when she smashes the vase in anger, the first pillows are there, but when Lucy yells, "It's nothing but common garlic!", a third set of pillows appear behind her back, which change into different pillows two shots later. (01:11:00)

Catwalk

Continuity mistake: In the shot where Mina sits down on Lucy's bed to share the happy news, Lucy's upper body is propped up against a pillow and the top of her head is positioned above it. In the following shot from behind her head, her upper body is resting on the mattress and only her head is positioned against the pillows. When the scene cuts to a close-up of her face, her entire head is positioned below the top of the pillow. (01:11:10)

Continuity mistake: When Mina moves the vase of garlic flowers sitting on Lucy's bedside table, in the close-up of the vase, the bouquet is quite full and the flowers look healthy, but when Lucy grabs the vase a couple of shots later, the amount of flowers has dwindled and many of the plants are drooping. (01:12:32)

Catwalk

Continuity mistake: When Arthur sits by Lucy's bed while watching over her, as Dracula appears outside the window, there's a quick shot of the bedroom from outside, and Arthur is nowhere to be seen. In the next shot inside the room, he sitting by the bed again. (01:16:15)

Kylantha

Continuity mistake: When Van Helsing tasks Quincey with guarding Lucy, as he asks, "Do you understand me?", Van Helsing's arms are down by his side and Quincey is holding onto the hat on his head with his left hand, while the rifle in his other hand is down by his waist. In the next shot, their arms change position: Van Helsing's hands are gripping Quincey's coat and Quincey's left arm is down by his side and he is holding the rifle up by his head (before bringing it down to waist level again). (01:17:15)

Visible crew/equipment: When Dracula is going to enter Lucy's bedroom for the last time, an unseen force knocks Cary Elwes backwards. Upon careful inspection, you can see a wire or cable pull him back. (01:19:30)

Other mistake: When Jonathan and Mina get married, he gives her wine to drink, which she somehow manages to do without removing the veil from her face. (01:20:25)

Dracula mistake picture

Revealing mistake: In the scene where Lucy is done in by Dracula in wolf form, as she dies, blood is exploded into the room by "supernatural" forces. If you look in the torrent of blood, you will see the gas, I assume carbon dioxide, from the special effect cannon appear and evaporate. (01:21:00)

Revealing mistake: During Lucy's funeral scene, if you look at her abdomen as the camera pans through the shot, you can see Lucy breathing when she's supposed to be dead. Very obvious on a big screen, not as much on a small screen. (01:21:15)

Trivia: The marriage scene between Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder was performed by an actual Romanian Orthodox priest. Contrary to rumours this made the marriage legal, that wouldn't be possible without corresponding paperwork, which of course they wouldn't have had.
