Dracula

Factual error: At the beginning of the movie, it was stated that Constantinople was captured by the Turks in 1462. The Turks actually captured it in 1453. (00:00:35)

Continuity mistake: When Vlad heads out into battle, he leaves through the chapel doors, which open onto a view of the sky at sunset and his army assembled outside the door. After the battle, he re-enters the chapel through the same doors, which now open into a much smaller space, terminating in a giant stone wall. (00:01:35 - 00:03:25)

Catwalk

Revealing mistake: During the battle scene at the beginning of the film, you can tell that the group of soldiers in the background are just animatronics because their bodies remain stationary while their arms move in a clockwork repetitive manner. (00:01:45)

Continuity mistake: When Elisabeta commits suicide by jumping into the river, her suicide letter is lying on the floor (it is definitely the suicide letter and not the false message from the Turks, because the words and handwriting are 100% identical to the suicide letter that Vlad finds - the actual message from the Turks can be seen in a brief flashback during the scene with Mina and Dracula at the restaurant later in the film). However, when Vlad picks up and reads the letter, it is a different piece of paper: The frayed edges at the top have disappeared and the parchment itself is longer, with more distance between the bottom lines of the message and the bottom of the paper. Catwalk

Continuity mistake: When Prince Vlad enters the chapel to find Elisabeta dead, as the camera pans toward her, the floor in front of the baptismal font is clean, but in the high angle shot where Vlad cries out and tilts the basin, two small pools of Elisabeta's blood can be seen on the floor (the same blood that is washed across the floor by the holy water in the following close-up of the font hitting the floor). Suggested correction: Elisabeta drowned; the only blood we see is by her mouth. The red patch on the floor is just a shadow - this becomes apparent when it follows the priest as he moves.

No, the mistake is correct, you are confusing the blood stains by the baptismal font (sitting at her feet) with the shadow above her head: As Vlad enters the chapel, the camera slowly pans toward Elisabeta and the floor in front of the font is clean. In the high angle shot where Vlad cries out and gets up, we see two small pools of Elisabeta's blood in front of the font. In the following close-up of the font falling, we see a pool of blood at the bottom of the shot which is then washed across the floor by the holy water.

Continuity mistake: When Vlad finds Elisabeta dead, the suicide letter lying on her chest keeps changing position between shots: In some shots, the letter the letter is lying almost perpendicular to her body, while in other shots it is parallel. (00:03:15)

Dracula mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Elisabeta is lying dead in the chapel, the neck on her dress and the top of the bodice keep alternating between being pale green/yellowish and having a dark green color. For example, when Vlad picks up her suicide letter, the collar area is dark green, but after Vlad drinks from the chalice, the collar area of her dress has a pale yellowish color. (00:03:20)

Catwalk

Continuity mistake: When Vlad is kneeling next to Elisabeta's body, as he picks up her suicide letter, a part of the priest's shadow can be seen above her head, without the priest standing there. The shadow can also be glimpsed in a shot from the same angle a few seconds earlier. (00:03:20)

Revealing mistake: In one of the first scenes, Winona Ryder (as Vlad the Impaler's wife), is lying on the floor, dead. Gary Oldman's Vlad falls to his knees, heartbroken, right next to the "dead" Winona, who flinches. (00:03:34)

Continuity mistake: When Prince Vlad tilts the baptismal font, the stains of Elisabeta's blood on the floor change position between the overhead shot and the close-up, easily seen from the cracks in the floor. (00:04:10)

Continuity mistake: When Dracula is holding the communion chalice filled with blood, the priest's crucifix can be seen lying on the floor in the background, but a few shots earlier, there was no crucifix there. (00:04:35)

Continuity mistake: When Dracula charges at the cross atop the altar, Elisabeta's blood can be seen on the floor in the background. When Dracula is holding the communion chalice, the stains are darker, and change position. (00:04:35)

Continuity mistake: When Dracula fills the communion chalice with blood from the bleeding cross, the blood is spilled over the sides and base of the chalice, but when he drinks the blood, the goblet is clean. (00:04:45)

Kylantha

Continuity mistake: When Elisabeta is lying dead in the chapel, the collar on her dress reaches the middle of her throat and most of her neck is showing, but after Dracula drinks blood from the chalice, her collar is suddenly going all the way up to her chin and her neck is no longer showing. Video

Continuity mistake: When Dracula stabs the cross and blood pours out of it, in one shot it is slowly creeping towards Elisabeta's dead body, in another shot it is rushing past her, and in the next shot it's slowly creeping again. (00:05:20)

Revealing mistake: When Harker is in the train, the outside shot shows a blatant model train, with empty carriages, plus no people and no curtains, as opposed to the inside shots. (00:08:20)

Dracula mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Jonathan looks at Mina's picture aboard the train, and when Dracula sees her picture in his castle, her face is turned to one side. When Van Helsing hypnotizes her, there is a visual of the photo against a burning backdrop, and the picture is reversed, with Mina's face turned to the opposite side. (00:09:32 - 01:43:35)

Continuity mistake: When the peasant woman gives Jonathan the crucifix in the carriage, the chain falls over the side of his palm. When he opens his hand to look at it, the chain runs between his fingers. (00:10:10)

Phoenix

Continuity mistake: On the carriage ride to Dracula's castle, Jonathan looks out the window and sees the wheels of the carriage. In the next shot, the wheels are covered by a sheet of fabric. (00:11:40)

Dracula: Is this my reward for defending God's church?
Priest: Sacrilege.
Dracula: I RENOUNCE GOD! I RENOUNCE GOD! I shall rise from my own death, to avenge hers with all the powers of darkness.

Trivia: The marriage scene between Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder was performed by an actual Romanian Orthodox priest. Contrary to rumours this made the marriage legal, that wouldn't be possible without corresponding paperwork, which of course they wouldn't have had.
