Continuity mistake: During the make up scene, Peg puts her glasses on top of her head. They remain this way until she reaches for the lotion with the lavender in it, upon which her glasses are suddenly back in their normal spot on her face. It counts as a mistake because, while the shot does cut away for a moment, both her hands remain in full view at all times, so there's never a chance for her to reach up and lower her glasses. Continuity mistake: Before Edward is looking at the family pictures you can see some scars on his face are open, when the camera focuses back on him the scars are closed.
Continuity mistake: When Officer Allen is talking to the psychologist, he begins to raise his hands towards his head right before he says "But will he be all right?" but in the next shot his hands are down by his side.
Continuity mistake: When Kim is watching Edward cut the roses, in closeups she's quite close to the curtain, and it's hanging straight down. In the wide shot she's slightly further away, and the curtain is angled outwards because she's holding it back with her hand.
Continuity mistake: When Peg talks about the sculpture of the family that Edward has just made, he walks toward her twice.
Continuity mistake: At the "bed time story" scene, the granddaughter of older Kim is covered all the way to her neck. A couple of shots after, she's suddenly covered just below her chest.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Edward is giving dogs haircuts, we see he has a table, the table switches between one and two tables between shots. When we see a diagonal view of Edward's face, the table is in two, otherwise, it's one table.
Continuity mistake: When Edward pushes Jim out the window, he stabs him in the stomach first. When Jim is backing toward the window, we can see a rip in his shirt where he was stabbed, but when his body is on the ground, there is no rip and the blood is much higher than where he was stabbed.
Continuity mistake: Edward stabs Jim and crashes him through the large attic window. Eight smaller window sections remain at the top of the opening, two rows of four small windows. All the outside shots (looking up at Edward and Kim) show the two lower left windows broken out, from the inside all eight windows are intact.
Continuity mistake: All thoughout the movie, the scars on Edward's face keep moving and changing sizes and depth.
Continuity mistake: When Edward eats at Kim's house for the first time his lips have makeup only on the middle, to make his mouth look smaller. On further shots throughout the movie his lips are fully painted and his mouth looks normal size.
Continuity mistake: Many of the bush sculptures that Edward creates in the neighborhood are significantly taller than the original shrubberies.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, the Avon lady is at a customer's door. In back shots a piece of her hair on the right is loose and looking messy. On front shots it's straight.
Continuity mistake: When Edward saves Kevin from getting run over, he cuts his cheek. The blood disappears from his face after Jim gets out of the van and the camera goes back to Edward and Kevin.
Continuity mistake: When Jim beats up Ed, Ed's hair swaps between covered in white dust in the wide angles, to dark black and clean in the close-ups.
Continuity mistake: Jim fires at the ceiling and rubble falls on Ed's head. A shot later he is standing tall unharmed and clean and the roof falls on him again.
Suggested correction: Incorrect. The roof doesn't collapse all at once - a small piece first falls and hits Edward on the head in the first shot, then the rest of the roof falls down a few seconds later in the second shot. You can even see the small piece that hit Edward in the second shot if you look at the ground. He also isn't "standing tall unharmed and clean" in the second shot. Look it up on YouTube (search for "Edward Scissorhands (1990) - Jim Attacks Edward (4/5) " on the Movieclips channel), and pay attention around 0:54.
