The World is Not Enough

Plot hole: When Bond takes the short cut in the Q boat it jumps over a brick wall that leads to the end of the water where the London canoe club is based, meaning that the canoeists only have approx 50m of water to canoe in unless they scrape the canoes bottom away by going over the wall. Not much of a club, even for London!

Continuity mistake: When James Bond is in the process of being tortured by a woman (again, not giving too much away), she takes off her right ear-ring to reveal a damaged ear lobe. About 10-15 seconds later, the ear-ring is back on her ear without her having replaced it.

Factual error: During the boat chase, the part when Bond jumps the boat through London Canoeing Club shed was filmed in the canal at Tobacco Wharf in London. This is not actually the home of the L.C.C. Across from this in real life is a road and then a dead end yet once Bond hits the road he finds himself in what appears to be Camden Fish market!

Continuity mistake: Just after Bond's BMW is sawn in half by the chopper, he says "Q's not gonna like this." In the close-up of him saying this, his hands (holding a gun) are not held up in front of his face. In the very next shot, viewed from behind, his hands are held high up and pointing towards the helicopter overhead. (01:32:02)

DEvans

Factual error: The Caspian sea oil pipes are shown being built in Azerbaijan and the helicopter comes from the country's capital Baku. The Azeri flags are waved by locals wearing Azeri national hats and clothes. They are Muslim, but the cleric is a Russian Orthodox priest.

Revealing mistake: When Cigar Girl crashes her boat, as the camera view approaches the shore the railings are already broken.

Revealing mistake: When Bond goes to Azerbaijan and exits the oil fields in his BMW and into the forest, the long shot is an obvious minature.

Continuity mistake: The distance between Cigar Girl's speedboat and the hot air balloon at the Millennium Dome varies drastically between shots and different angles.

Continuity mistake: In the establishing shot of the guy whose tie Bond subsequently pins to the bar in the casino, Bond's X-Ray sunglasses reveal he is carrying three weapons: a revolver and a knife on his left side, and on his right side a submachine gun. When Bond later uses the knife to pin the guy's tie to the bar and kicks his legs out from under him, his jacket falls open. We see the revolver, which Bond removes and gives to the barman. However, the submachine gun has mysteriously disappeared.

Continuity mistake: When M activates the GPS signal, Gabor is with Electra King, the signal is picked up straight away and Bond pinpoints it. Then the bomb goes off and Bond and Christmas run outside, only to be surrounded by Gabor and the henchmen. Gabor can't be in two places at once and there definitely wasn't time for him to get to Bond.

Continuity mistake: When the submarine surfaces in Istanbul it is under cover and arches go over the top of it, but later when Bond dives off the balcony the roof and arches have disappeared.

Revealing mistake: During the ski chase, a paratrooper pulls out a submachine gun and fires a volley of bullets at Bond. However, as these hits the ground, you can see that actually there are two parallel lines of explosions behind Bond. The submachine gun can't possibly shoot two regular lines of bullets like that. (01:37:00)

Continuity mistake: At the end of the boat chase we see the tide is out at the Millennium Dome and the boat gets beached, but when the girl exits the boat the tide is in and completely surrounds the boat, with no time for this to happen.

Continuity mistake: When the boat jumps over the road in the chase, it goes straight over the road and into the alley. However, in the next shot, it is driving through the alley, and passes behind a bus that wasn't in any of the previous shots.

Factual error: At Valentin's Caviar factory, one of the lumbering choppers cuts through Bond's car. It is obvious that saw blades cutting through metal cause a high volume of sparks. Yet as the saws cut, the car is simply split in half down the middle, and falls apart. This would have ignited the gas tank, and the car would have exploded. Not to mention all the modifications Q has made to the car, with rockets and other explosive goodies.

Quantom X

Audio problem: In the scene where Reynard and his men are stealing the warhead, Bond jumps and dives through some blast doors as they are closing. While flying though the air, it is seen that he fires a shot. However, you never hear the blast. The flash of the barrel is easily seen, and it is obvious that he is not using a silencer from previous moments of that scene. He shoots, but you don't hear it.

Quantom X

Factual error: When the oil pipeline blows up we see 5 distinct explosions (coming from 3 different places) but there was only 1 bomb. Furthermore there is way to much fire for it to be a high-explosive detonation.

Jacob La Cour

Other mistake: When Bond is about to jump from the banker's window, he is shown tying a knot on the strap, but when he gets to the street, he only releases the strap and walks away.

Suggested correction: He may have tied a quick release not, which by sliding his hand back up would have released the cable.

Bond does not tie a quick release knot. He ties a traditional overhand knot (it's shown in quite some detail), which cannot be easily removed. Therefore the original entry still stands.

swordfish

Continuity mistake: When Bond has his gun pointed at Renard's head just before Christmas comes in at the bomb place, the gun is in the centre of Renard's head. Then the shot suddenly changes to a more zoomed out shot and the gun is pointed slightly to the left of Renard's head.

Continuity mistake: The gun that Elektra uses near the climax and which Bond takes from her is a Colt Mk IV Series 70. However, when he's on the submarine, it turns into a regular M1911A1. Compare the finish on the wood grips and the fact that the Series 70 has a stainless barrel, whereas the 1911 doesn't.

Suggested correction: There are a lot of bad guys on the submarine, it's entirely possible that Bond has killed one of them between shooting Electra and pulling the gun out again. chances are he may have even lost it when he dived to the sub.

I went back and checked this. The sequence of events after killing Elektra make a point of showing him tuck the gun in his trousers. He dives, swims to the submarine, and interrupts a sailor that is closing the hatch by kicking this man in the face and sneaking onboard. Literally the next shot after, a bald bad guy is walking down a corridor towards the camera and the gun comes into frame (held by Bond) and stops the bad guy in his tracks. Note the gun that is shown is drenched in water and it is the wrong gun from earlier at Elektra's. The hammer is not stainless steel and it is missing the gold insignia on the grip. You can even kind of make this detail out as the gun is shown still tucked in Bond's pants when he makes it down the ladder when entering the sub. It seems to already be the wrong gun. Besides the gun being covered in water, we just saw Bond kick a bad guy in the face and just a second after in the next shot he's holding up this second bad guy. To assume he needed to switch guns in between this very brief cut makes little sense when we just saw he had the gun tucked in his pants from Elektra's.

Trivia: In the opening sequence, with the speedboat jetting through the boathouse and over the road, was filmed in Wapping, East London. It took a week to film that one sequence, as I saw them doing it. Also, for the matter of continuity, when the boat goes across the road, it goes into some sort of alley with an arch above it. In reality, it's actually a Group 4 building on the other side of that road.

Question: When Bond first enters Zukovsky's casino, there's a tune playing on a saxophone in the background. Can anyone make out what tune it is? It sounds really familiar.
