A View to a Kill

Continuity mistake: When Bond and Stacey are in Mr Howe's office at San Francisco City Hall after being captured by Zorin and May Day, Mr Howe asks Zorin what Bond and Stacey have done and May Day is holding Bond's gun in her right hand and has left hand in her coat pocket. When we see a close-up of Zorin and May Day in the next shot, May Day's left hand is now under her right wrist. (01:23:20)

Continuity mistake: When Bond and Stacey enter the elevator at San Francisco City Hall, May Day says "Get back!" and you can see she is holding her gun with both hands. But when she puts down the gun in the next shot, she is now holding it with only one hand. (01:24:20)

Continuity mistake: When Bond climbs out of the burning elevator to fetch the hose in order to rescue Stacey, you can see the two cables behind the elevator door are unlit, but after a quick cut to Stacey, we return to the door and the cables are now on fire. (01:26:40)

Continuity mistake: When the police officer is trying to arrest 007 in front of the fire truck, Bond is assuming the position, facing the truck, with both hands pressed against the side. Bond turns away from the truck, removing his hands from the side, but in the next shot, when the camera zooms into Stacey, his hands leave the truck again. (01:29:50)

Continuity mistake: After Bond and Stacey escape the fire at San Francisco City Hall, Bond is confronted by a police chief and he sprays him with water from the fire truck, but when the chief is in his car pursuing Bond through San Francisco, he appears completely dry. (01:30:10)

Continuity mistake: During the chase sequence in San Francisco, Bond is holding onto the ladder on the fire truck and he tells Stacey to turn. After a quick cut to Stacey, we return to the chase scene and you can see Bond is on the ladder facing backwards. When we cut to Bond in the next shot, he is now facing forwards. (01:32:10)

Continuity mistake: During the fire-truck chase-scene the pursuing police cars are shown to be a pair of Dodge Monacos, but during subsequent shots one of them changes into a smaller Plymouth Fury. The cars are not very similar to each other and vastly different in size. (01:32:10)

Continuity mistake: When Zorin is trying to break into the shed where Bond is, just after he's worked out what time high tide is, the door rattles, dropping a hard hat onto the ground, but leaving a red/yellow light/reflector hanging, quite securely. The door lock is also pointing down and right. A couple of shots later, without the door being rattled forcibly again, there's nothing hanging behind it, and the door lock is pointing right. (01:42:15)

Continuity mistake: The locomotive that Scarpine drives in the quarry throughout the mine sequence has an all-green radiator, but when he and Zorin come out of the mine, the top of the radiator is black. (01:48:30)

Suggested correction: That's because they are on a different locomotive. If you watch closely, the one they ride in parks by the hut that ends up under water. They take one that is on a separate track and raised rock.

Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film when Bond and Mayday are trapped in the water rushing into the mine, her hairdo is totally drenched when her entire head is submerged and her wet, straightened hair falls onto her forehead. The next scene, when they are walking through the water and debris, her hair is beautifully sculpted as it has been through the entire film. (01:54:20)

A View to a Kill mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Bond is hanging on the mooring rope of Zorin's airship, we see a wide shot of the city and you can see that the top of the Golden Gate Bridge is covered in fog. But when the airship approaches the bridge seconds later, almost all of the fog has disappeared. (01:55:00)

A View to a Kill mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Stacey is running towards Bond after Zorin's plan to destroy Silicon Valley failed, his airship is gaining on her. When we see a view from the airship, Bond is on the grass and running on gravel, but when Zorin captures Stacey, Bond is back running on the grass again. (01:55:00)

Continuity mistake: Before Zorin says "This will hurt him more than me", the shot of the blimp is not the Zorin blimp, but the Fuji film blimp (the Fuji blimp has a green nose, whereas the Zorin blimp has a white nose with a red stripe). (01:56:30)

Continuity mistake: During the fight between Bond and Zorin on the Golden Gate Bridge, Zorin's shoes alternate between grey slip-on loafers (worn by actor Christopher Walken) and grey trainers (worn by Walken's stunt double). (01:59:45)

Continuity mistake: Zorin supposedly falls from the top of a pillar of the Golden Gate Bridge, however 2 seconds after falling he is below the road. This is not possible as the drop is too great. Even taking into account of Zorin accelerating. (02:00:00)

Continuity mistake: When Bond grabs Stacey after the Zorin Airship blows up, you can see the fireaxe resting between them. The camera shot changes to one above them and the fireaxe has now gone. (02:01:00)

Suggested correction: The axe isn't gone. What's happened is the handle is hiding behind Bond's foot. The red head of the axe simply blends into the paintwork of the bridge and given the distance of the shot it's hard to spot.

Continuity mistake: When General Gogol is in M's office at the end of the film, he is holding an Order of Lenin medal in his right hand, but few shots later he is holding a glass of champagne and the medal is nowhere to be seen. (02:01:50)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where May Day is escorting a Japanese man out from the meeting inside the blimp, she's wearing sunglasses. When the man looks horrified at May Day, realizing that the stairway is leading outside and is an obvious trap, May Day is no longer wearing sunglasses.

Continuity mistake: While Bond is holding the rope attached to the Zeppelin a cop car crashes, its rear window rolled up. A shot later it's rolled down.

Revealing mistake: After Pola Ivanova sneaks out of the baths, she climbs into the car with General Gogol, who can be seen to be a double and not Walter Gotell. (01:07:20)

Trivia: When Grace Jones screams during the mine sequence, when sparks fly around her, her screams are for real. Jones did not know that the electric cables around her would go off as a special effect for the scene.

Question: I read somewhere that Dolph Lundgren, who was Grace Jones' boyfriend at the time, has a small part in the film, however I can't spot him. Can anyone tell me who he is?

Answer: He plays a KGB agent helping General Gogol. It's real "blink-and-you-miss-him" stuff.
