Continuity mistake: When Marcus is trying to convince his wife to give him some in the morning so he can be lighter on his feet, Martin Lawrence is sprawled with his left arm over the pillows in close-up, but in the wider angle he is in a much more normal position with his arm by his torso. (00:10:10)
Continuity mistake: In his first scene with Marcus and his wife, the lighting on them changes constantly between shots, and the same can be said for the position of Theresa Randle's hands on Martin Lawrence. (00:09:30)
Continuity mistake: When Martina Lawrence calls the bulky carjacker on his side a "big Popeye chicken-eating motherf…," the gun popping in frame from the top is held by a left hand. When the scene is shot with the camera on Will Smith's side, the guy is holding his gun with the right hand. It switches again, left or right depending on the camera angle used. (00:02:35)
Visible crew/equipment: When the bait hooker gets out of the car at the beginning of the movie, the lighting rig is reflected in the right car door. (00:01:55)
Continuity mistake: When Marcus and Mike are chasing the bad guys who have Julie, the sun changes between shots - while the bad guys are getting away in the cab, in the background you can see it's sunset, but in he next shot the sun is shining back again. (01:37:25)
Audio problem: When the Captain is on about the Heroin being stolen he says something along the lines of "we got nothing, and he left us a big f*** you". When he says "we got nothing" his mouth doesn't match the words on the audio. (00:14:25)
Other mistake: Near the end of the movie, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are in a Porsche catching the bad guy. The whole time Martin Lawrence is driving, BOTH hands are on the steering wheel. Now most of us know that Porsches have a manual transmission, so shouldn't Martin Lawrence be switching gears during the chase?
Suggested correction: Hopefully someone else can confirm, but it appears that from around 1995 onwards some Porsche models came with an optional 'tiptronic' automatic transmission.
It was Michael Bay's own personal car used in the movie, a manual transmission model. But even if we do not use "outside" knowledge, we see the gear stick in the movie at the very beginning when Martin Lawrence spills fries all over it. So no, despite what the correction says, it's not an automatic version.
Plot hole: Marg Helgenberger's investigation reveals that the mole has called Club Hell from the precinct. However, if you look at the scene, the villains are not expecting them (Casper spots them practically by accident and asks out loud what the cop is doing there; Noah looks incredulous), and they are even having their ether traffic in the open at the club front. Note that technically it does not say that a call was made before the blitz, but considering the mole knew about it first-hand, it's unfathomable they wouldn't tip them off. (01:23:15)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Fouchet shoots the decoy cop with his gun. Once. The cop has two bullet wounds. (00:05:30)
Plot hole: The movie would have been over in barely over half an hour if the detectives could access the file of Eddie Dominguez. It contained the revelation of who the mole was, which unlocks by itself access to the villain at the end of the movie. It's never explained (nor justified) in the movie why this file would be so secret and out of reach for the Bad Boys, other than to keep the plot going.
Continuity mistake: When Martin Lawrence is in bed with Tea Leoni and a dog and brings up the disturbing image of him "coming with thunder," she suddenly has her hands on her own chest in contrast with the previous shot. (01:17:40)
Continuity mistake: After Mike has killed the bad guy at the end, the distance of the bad guy's hand from the gun changes instantly. (01:53:10)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when Martin Lawrence is in bed with his wife, he wakes up on the left side of the bed and leans over turn the alarm off. The next shot he's on the right side of the bed and the alarm has moved to the right side too, he's reaching over to turn it off. (00:09:30)
Other mistake: In the scene where Mike returns to his apartment for the first time since Julie was living there, as they walk towards the elevator Chet says "Hey Mr Lowrey" to Mike then says "Hey Mr Lowrey" to Marcus although Marcus never told him that he was taking Mike's identity. (00:59:45)
Suggested correction: It's not in real time. They could have been back on a different occasion; we just aren't shown it.
