Bad Boys

Continuity mistake: When Martina Lawrence calls the bulky carjacker on his side a "big Popeye chicken-eating motherf…," the gun popping in frame from the top is held by a left hand. When the scene is shot with the camera on Will Smith's side, the guy is holding his gun with the right hand. It switches again, left or right depending on the camera angle used. (00:02:35)

Continuity mistake: When Marcus wakes up towards the beginning of the film, he knocks a Florida snowglobe and some other stuff off the top of his alarm clock. In the next shot, the snowglobe is back on top of the clock. (00:09:30)

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when Martin Lawrence is in bed with his wife, he wakes up on the left side of the bed and leans over turn the alarm off. The next shot he's on the right side of the bed and the alarm has moved to the right side too, he's reaching over to turn it off. (00:09:30)

Suggested correction: This is the same misconception as in entry #786 already in the corrections; part of the scene is through a mirror. You can tell the two kinds of shots apart by part of the shot being taken by the framing of the mirror.

Continuity mistake: When Marcus is trying to convince his wife to give him some in the morning so he can be lighter on his feet, Martin Lawrence is sprawled with his left arm over the pillows in close-up, but in the wider angle he is in a much more normal position with his arm by his torso. Continuity mistake: When Marcus is talking to his wife in bed about having some early morning sex, she gets up and he is leaning on his side. She tells him the kids will be coming any minute and when they do come bursting through the door, Marcus is now under the covers on his back. Given that we heard them approaching, there's no time for him to move. (00:10:25)

Continuity mistake: At the breakfast table, Marcus asks Mike, "Why you put me in this, man?" His son is picking a bit of food from the plate. The phone rings across the camera cut, and the sentence continues ("I'm with my babies"), but the kid's hand is off the table by his hip. He's back chewing on the food, with that hand raised only when, a few seconds later, the exact camera angle from before is used again. (00:11:35)

Continuity mistake: When Mike is being randomly racist against the two Hispanic cops in front of the police locker, Will Smith's hands are close to his body, thumbs up, and he is half a step behind Martin Lawrence. One of the cops answers him with a "yo mama" joke, but in the foreground Will Smith's hands are in a different position and Lawrence is more distant from him and slightly behind. (00:13:50)

Continuity mistake: When Mike and Max are talking in the equipment room, the clock behind them reads 3:27:40 twice - once before and once after Marcus drops the weights on his chest. (00:16:55)

Continuity mistake: When Will and Martin are in Martin's car, just after they find the dead guy, watch the microphone hanging from the rear view mirror. Depending on the camera shot, it changes position. (00:20:00)

Continuity mistake: When Martin Lawrence is under the desk with the rotting corpse on top, on the couch behind him there is a document with a slight pink hue. The document is straight throughout the scene, except for the shot when Lawrence gets up, when it's tilted. (00:20:10)

Continuity mistake: When the two female characters enter the fancy hotel room, they make a point to say they will only be there for a couple of minutes. It is daylight when they go in. The visit is cut short (the one that's supposed to be a few minutes long) because of a gun battle in which one of the women dies and the other escapes. The escaped one gets out through the roof into an evening's sky. There's still light visible, but for a visit that lasts all of 4 minutes, it's far too quick a change. (00:23:00)

Continuity mistake: At the party scene in the early minutes of the movie, the bad guy who calls the two women to his place to "party" is shot once in the knee. Blood spurts and a gaping hole is made in his dark blue pant's leg by the bullet. Seconds earlier, the black hooker is shot three times. Where are the three gaping holes and blood on her solid white dress? Ah, there are none. (00:26:00)

Continuity mistake: In the scene at the beginning of the film, when the villain of the piece shoots Julie's friend, he proceeds to turn the gun on Eddie and shoot him in the leg. After Eddie reels back in pain and falls into the chair, a conversation begins. Throughout the course of this conversation, the drool that flew from Eddie's mouth and landed on his right lapel, disappears and then reappears. (00:27:30)

Continuity mistake: Before Eddie Dominguez is shot sitting in the chair, the bad guy in the green suit is on the left of the large guy, but when the big guy pulls the trigger the man in green is on his right side. (00:27:45)

Continuity mistake: There's a rubber flower (a toy sunflower with sunglasses) on Mike's desk. When Captain Howard answers the phone, it goes from fully straight and vertical to hunched over as the shot changes. Throughout the whole duration of the scene, the flower is straight in the wider shots with Pantoliano standing by the desk, and 'wilted' when the framing is focused on Martin Lawrence. (00:33:20)

Continuity mistake: Marcus ends the phone call with Julie, saying, "Mike to the rescue." He suddenly has his left hand on the microphone. (00:35:00)

Continuity mistake: When Marcus meets Julie Mott she attacks him with a bat. He takes the bat off her and moves to leave. The next shot of Julie Mott sitting on the floor shows the bat in the foreground. Cut back to Marcus still holding the bat and he asks her, "Look lady, you ain't got no more bats, do you?" Trivia: Pretty much all of the dialog between Martin Lawrence and Will Smith was ad-libbed. The original script can be found here: http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Bad-Boys.html, as Don Simpson and Jerry Buckheimer thought it would be better and more funny.
