Continuity mistake: An exterior view of the window in the building across the street that the Virtuoso plans on shooting from shows it is comprised of three square panes stacked vertically. When the Virtuoso is inside behind the window, it is one large vertical pane. (00:10:27)
Factual error: After Mohamedou's torture scenes, the CO of GITMO holds up a letter from the Dep. Of Defense in Mo's face, stating that his mother had been detained. In the bottom left corner of the letter, it is written as "Department of Defence", which is the UK spelling. (01:41:27)
Deliberate mistake: Driving to Malibu, Knox's truck is going the wrong direction on the road - the solid double yellow lines are on the passenger's side and the solid white line is on the driver's side. (The driver is on the left side of the vehicle.) There is no solid white line on the opposite side, indicating it is a one-direction road. The truck quickly crosses over the yellow lines and goes off-screen, after which it can be seen there's a wide paved shoulder that tapers to the edge near the intersection. (00:03:20)
Factual error: Dr. Boxer is told the experimented upon baboon died. He asks that an autopsy be performed. Autopsies are performed on humans. A post-mortem examination on animals is called a necropsy. (01:01:45)
Factual error: The Channel 5 WNP Newscaster said, "it is now believed he [District Attorney Berdido] and his family were killed..." and running along the bottom of the screen was "4 confirmed dead in Fort Lauderdale gas explosion." This was a LIVE report showing two streams of water onto the house still burning inside. An investigation would barely, if at all, be started at this time and no-one would be "confirmed dead" this early. It would not even be known if anyone was home when the house exploded. (00:04:34 - 00:04:55)
Revealing mistake: When Angela walks on the lawn to meet her husband, she clips through the shadow of the CGI billboard behind. (00:06:39)
Continuity mistake: Before opening the door, the "M" on Eric's letter jacket is on his right lapel but on the left when he enters the room, as well as when he exits. (This is separate from the "M" being on his right lapel but on the left when facing the mirror). (00:40:09)
Continuity mistake: The door had multiple small rectangular glass panes enclosed in wood frames, but the glass pane that Alan Schaefer's head/body went through was larger and no wood frames were visible. (00:40:28)
Other mistake: While Snake Eyes is fighting at the beginning of the film, the other guy throws him to a block of concrete. Snake hits on his head and should be dead by then or at least seriously injured.
Factual error: When Sharyn woke up after surgery, she did not know how long she had been there, but her abdominal scar was practically healed. Under these circumstances, she should have had a urinary catheter but did not. Also, when Sharyn lifted her gown to look at the scar, she was wearing bikini-like lace-trimmed navy blue underwear - it is unlikely anyone would have put such underwear on her after surgery. (00:05:14)
Factual error: The initial police scene takes pace 20 years ago. The present year is 2021, so 20 years prior would've made it 2001. The police Chevrolet Tahoe at the opening scene of the film was only made from 2007 and up. (00:05:40)
Factual error: After James made a complaint against Dr. Philip Clark with the [non-existent] "Washington Board of Psychiatry", in practically no time Dean Fanning told Philip that he could no longer teach at the Lindberg Institute of Psychology and "the Board's decision is unanimous." After a written complaint is filed against a doctor, the state's Medical Board/ Commission has up to 21 days to ascertain if the complaint meets the threshold or even warrants an investigation. Action would take much more time.
Continuity mistake: In the initial view of Billy in the tree ("saved for later" by the leopard sleeping on another branch), his head is hanging face up alongside a tree branch as wide as his head. When the camera zooms in showing the middle of Billy's face, the left side of the screen should be all brown, representing the branch. Instead, there is blue sky down to his eye and blurred tan/brown representing the branch. The brown might supposed to be the dried grass, but Billy has not moved his head. (00:51:25)
Continuity mistake: The white gift box was placed on the car's hood near the passenger side front wheel indentation. When the female cop (Valerie) turned around, the box was at an angle, not parallel, to the indentation. (00:02:21)
Revealing mistake: DEA Agent Rick Bowden was already seated "in the best position" before knowing where Ross would sit in the SF library. Chris Tarbell already had a surveillance camera behind the seat Ross chose, giving him a clear view of Ross, also before knowing where Ross was going to sit. Even if there were cameras in other positions, the DEA Agent and Chris Tarbell being at the right spots in advance was too coincidental to be by chance alone. (00:02:09 - 00:02:30)
Revealing mistake: The "unnatural seam" (line) across Jimmy's forehead and beyond - as well as the overall appearance of his head - indicates that he is NOT "naturally bald"! His "fake" bald head was not put on nearly as well as those seen in numerous other movies. [The actor playing the character does not have much hair in real life, but he also doesn't have that artifical line across his forehead.]. (00:07:13)
Factual error: The New Jersey license plate (L928 : 68FT) did not have the proper format (too many numbers/letters and wrong color). NJ standard plates have a letter followed by two numbers, an emblem, then three letters. NJ plates are yellow/gold reflective at the top, fading to white at the bottom; the Jeep's plate was all white (although the plate holder was buff colored at the top and covered up "New Jersey"). (00:05:07)
Revealing mistake: During one of the chase scenes, an SUV hits a rock barrier and flips over landing on its top. The car spins around, and we see that it is empty. The driver then climbs out as if he was just in the vehicle.
Continuity mistake: When two officers go to inform Ronald Whitlock (Bruce Willis) about his sons, Ronald shoots his pistol at the Black officer and hits him near his inner right eyebrow. (A large black spot can be seen between his eyebrows.) When the camera shows the dead officer, the black mark is gone and the bullet hole is on his forehead centered about 2" above his left eye. (00:06:40)
Factual error: It isn't known how long Tommy's mother was dead (overdosed), but Tommy told Parker that his mom and dad had been "asleep for hours." When Parker felt Tommy's mom's neck for a pulse, her body appeared to be stiff. Even if rigor mortis had not set in, it would take more than Parker lightly passing his hand over her eyes to close them. Parker didn't even really look to see if his hand was over her eyes when he gently passed his hand over her face. (00:02:35 - 00:03:35)
