Other mistake: The on-line "Ventura Space Competition Entry Form" asked for the applicant's "full name", but did not have a space for "middle name." The format of the questionnaire was also inconsistent. There were forced-choice (yes or no) health-related questions and age groups (21-30, 31-50, and 51-65) but they were unequal (9, 19, and 14 years, respectively); the age groups should have been consistent, such as a span of 14 years per group (21-35, 36-50, 51-65). Revealing mistake: There's definitely more than one cat playing "Panda", but how many can't be determined because Panda's entire body is not shown at once. "All" of them (maybe a whole litter?) have various distinctive black spots on a mostly white body. Watch for the amount of black on a cat's face and whether or not the diagonal black fur on the right side covers the entire eye or only half and if there's a black spot toward the nose. Also, look for how much black is on its side, back, behind its legs, etc.
Continuity mistake: The spacing (almost touching versus several inches apart) and appearance (shape and whether there are shoots) of the two flowers in the vase on Estelle's/Betty's table at the restaurant vary. Sometimes, the flowers on her table look more like the ones that could be seen on the table in front of hers after Brian/Roy entered the restaurant. (00:03:40)
Continuity mistake: Mario was chewing a mouthful, then lifted his drink to wash down the food, but when the camera shifted, he was back to chewing a mouthful. (00:01:59)
Other mistake: Elsa Brecht is holding an official piece of mail sent from the Coconut Grove Hotel in Miami but it's postmarked Orlando, Florida. There's no legitimate reason the mail would be postmarked Orlando when Orlando is 235 miles from Miami. (01:24:16)
Continuity mistake: The front view of Sheriff Garrett [Ethan Hawke] while he is talking to Billy shows a stone-walled well between him and the cabin door, but there's no well visible in the rear view. When Billy walks out with his hands up, there appears to be a well to his right (where the horse rail should be visible), but there is no well when Sara and Rio exit the cabin. (00:14:04 - 00:15:10)
Continuity mistake: The way Linda holds her coffee cup changes numerous times, often instantly with front versus rear views. The handle switches (changes 90° or 180°) from facing towards her chest to her left knee to opposite her chest while holding the cup between her bent knees, which vary in distance apart. Continuity mistake: When George gets shot, he lies flat on his back. When Gloria walks in on the scene, there's a closer view of him and he is lying on his side. (01:18:45)
Continuity mistake: When Trip is holding up Frank in his room, he's holding his gun sideways. But in shots from the front, it's tilted at about a 45-degree angle, but in shots from behind, it's almost 90 degrees to the side. (01:10:05)
Visible crew/equipment: When Erick asks Sam what she's reading, the shadow of the camera can be seen on the wall next to him. (01:27:51)
Factual error: In 1915 Tolkien was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant with the Lancashire Fusiliers. He (plus various other officers) is constantly shown in the film wearing bright metal cap badge, collar badges and shoulder titles on his Service Dress tunic and greatcoat. However, in the Lancashire Fusiliers officers did not wear shoulder titles on their SD tunics/greatcoats, and their cap/collar badges would have been in a darkened bronze finish, not bright metal (which was for Other Ranks and NCO's).
Continuity mistake: Molly interjects as the journalists are putting Katherine in a tough spot: she slips a hand around her waist in the close-ups, but the hand is not there in the wider shot. (00:46:40)
Factual error: The royal parade is supposed to be of the Yorkshire Hussars, but the filmmakers instead borrowed the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, complete with guns. Although the uniform was similar, the Yorkshire Hussars was a cavalry regiment until the Second World War, when it became an armoured regiment. It was never an artillery regiment.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, the girl gets assaulted from the back: you see at first exactly from the shot from behind that the backpack she is carrying escapes her arms, but in the subsequent shot she is still holding it. (00:02:10)
Continuity mistake: In Central Park before meeting the toaster client, Peter Sarsgaard in the close-up has 2 tuning forks in his right hand and one in the left, but in the wider shot he has two in his left and one in his right as he picks up the mallet. (00:07:10)
Other mistake: Judy is singing on stage with some showgirls. She is singing into a wired microphone. At the end of the song she twirls around twice, but the microphone does not appear to get wrapped around her. (00:49:35)
Continuity mistake: After Wesley has intimidated the snot bully, he comes back home and finds the police. Sitting at the table, his mom holds his arm and says "Wesley, Mr. Chambers asked you a question." Mary Elizabeth Winstead has her right arm on the table, close to her body. Change of angle and she is holding the coffee mug instead. (00:45:10)
Continuity mistake: Zeke is in the kitchen with his daughter. He is checking out Dick's driving license; in the close-up he is holding it with his left hand, but in the following shot, as she asks him "Where'd you find it?" he is holding it in his right hand. (00:10:15)
Continuity mistake: Ellen and Joe just got out of the motel room and begin walking towards the marina. Left of frame, a young couple (she has a cap and denim, he has a full carrot top and a bright red plaid shirt, can't miss them) walking up some stairs on the left, going in the same direction as they do, different path. At the next cut, they are walking down the same boardwalk as Ellen and Joe and in the opposite direction. (00:04:30)
