Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, the girl gets assaulted from the back: you see at first exactly from the shot from behind that the backpack she is carrying escapes her arms, but in the subsequent shot she is still holding it. (00:02:10)
Continuity mistake: After the intro, the protagonist receives a phone call from her sister. When she turns around to check out of the TV screen, one of her fellow swimmers, with quite characteristic purple hair, is immediately seen sitting down. Back to the view from inside the locker, the same aubergine-haired girl is coming from the lockers to the benches, to go sit. (00:03:45)
Continuity mistake: Ellen and Joe just got out of the motel room and begin walking towards the marina. Left of frame, a young couple (she has a cap and denim, he has a full carrot top and a bright red plaid shirt, can't miss them) walking up some stairs on the left, going in the same direction as they do, different path. At the next cut, they are walking down the same boardwalk as Ellen and Joe and in the opposite direction. (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: When Hodaka first fires his gun whilst being threatened by the man, the shell casing lands on the ground beside him, right next to his head. A couple seconds later, when Hina goes to help him up so they can run off together, the shell casing has vanished from the ground. (00:22:06)
Continuity mistake: After Amy asks Laurie why she shouldn't marry Fred, her right hand moves from the edge of her sketchpad to the center. (01:15:37)
Continuity mistake: Packets of Synchronic were placed on top of the garbage already in the can and were inconsistent from one shot to another. Also, the amount of crumbled papers under the Synchronic decreased. (It is also interesting that no new garbage was placed in the can on top of the Synchronic packets even though over one day had passed).
Continuity mistake: When Aunt Sarah arrives, she dumps her luggage in the hands of Jim and then passes him to his right, leaving him between herself and the door. In the reverse shot, Jim is on the opposite side. (00:29:15)
Continuity mistake: When George gets shot, he lies flat on his back. When Gloria walks in on the scene, there's a closer view of him and he is lying on his side. (01:18:45)
Continuity mistake: In the train when Skimbleshacks sings "and was ready to remind him" a cat on the left of the sink suddenly appears on the middle part.
Continuity mistake: Young Theo Decker is having his first dinner with the Barbours. Seeing that he's not eating much, Nicole Kidman asks him if he would like her to ask the maid Etta to make something else. On Theo's right, Andy is holding the fork with his right hand. As Theo answers "I'm not hungry", Andy's left hand suddenly is on the table too. (00:06:00)
Continuity mistake: In church, Mrs. Smith was seated at the aisle, John was to her right, and Mr. Smith was next to John. After John stood up, he was standing next to the aisle and his mother was not there. In a wide view two seconds later, Mrs. Smith is sitting next to the aisle and John and Mr. Smith are to her right again. Also, when John was standing at the aisle, he was very close to the pews on the opposite side, but when Mrs. Smith was sitting next to the aisle, the aisle was about three times as wide. Continuity mistake: On the subway, behind Mr. Rogers, the sign showing the train's destination changes.
Continuity mistake: Nicky's facial hair shows less growth at times, within and between scenes. In particular, the amount of hair above and below his lips is the most obvious, but the darker (longer) and lighter (shorter) hair around the bottom of his face is also noticeable, as is the presence or absence of hair on his cheeks.
