Other mistake: Even if it is a small-town police department investigating the circumstances of Don's disappearance and later discovered dead body, it is not likely that they would fail to conclude (based on forensics), or at least highly suspect, that he did not commit suicide and his death was not an accident. The police should've been able to ascertain that the angle of the gun shot in his mouth could not have been self-inflicted. Also, the blows to his forehead (from Kassi) would arouse suspicion. Deliberate mistake: Luke had a box of T-shirts he designed and Faith reached into the box and removed the top T-shirt. Without looking at the size or even holding it up to her body to see if the T - shirt would fit, Faith asked, "How much?" Luke replied, "Ten" [dollars]. Faith reached into her pocket, pulled out a wad of bills and handed it to Luke without counting the money. Faith put the T-shirt on over her top and it was a "perfect fit." (00:03:55 - 00:04:37)
Continuity mistake: When Phil heads to the Puppet Pleasure place early in the film, the positions of the shadows change around the vehicle parked out front in the close up, revealing the time laps between filming each shot. (00:06:30)
Continuity mistake: After Willoughby wrapped a necktie around Don's wrist and crossed the ends to hold it together, it fell apart when Don lowered his arm. But the necktie was securely wrapped when the camera shifted to showing Don putting his arm around Willoughby's back. (01:36:40)
Continuity mistake: When Lukas is looking in the bathroom mirror, the upper half of his laceration looks about three times the width of the lower half. When he exits the bathroom, the laceration looks like one line with the same width. (00:15:45)
Continuity mistake: The position of Don's baseball cap on the table changes two times. Initially, the cap is near the corner of the table with the visor and letter "P" roughly parallel to the front of his body. After he pours beer into his glass, the visor is angled more toward the corner of the table (even though the camera appears to pan around it). When Don brings Mike back to the table, the cap visor is pointed toward Don and is at a differently angle (more parallel to the front of his body again). (00:00:09 - 00:01:47)
Other mistake: The RV's cassette player has some odd features (some of which I've never seen on a cassette player). There's a "push button" for "loudness", not "volume." There is another "push button" labeled "MO ST" - not sure what these mean. The slot for the cassette tape looks wide enough for a VHS tape. (00:11:15)
Suggested correction: There's nothing wrong with the stereo. The cassette slot is the normal size for that configuration on an 80's cassette car stereo (they're in an '87 Suncrest). The loudness button was also a common feature for that era. It boosts low and high frequencies at lower volumes (the stereo still has a volume knob). MO stands for "mono" and ST stands for "stereo."
The slot looked way too wide, even for the 1980s. I would have guessed that the "ST" meant stereo, but wouldn't that be referring to the AM/FM radio, not the cassette player? (Thanks for the "MO" clarification). [Features were still on the odd side.].
Continuity mistake: The scene after the one where Ben makes his special sandwich begins with Holly preparing bedazzled wings for her younger daughter. The actress raises her left hand to cover her mouth, but in the next shot it's the right hand instead. (00:16:50)
Continuity mistake: In the first WW2 flashback the protagonist is handing the various items to the Nazi doorman. When he puts down the pen, he is doing it with a left hand in the table close-up, but he picked it with his right, as the left arm is busy holding the coat. (00:02:05)
Continuity mistake: Some figurines on Lidya's nightstand changed positions near the start. The rabbit was moved closer to the front, then back. The blue object was moved back a couple inches. (00:03:15 - 00:03:58)
Plot hole: When Rupert brought his "secret pen pal" letters from Hollywood movie star John to school, they were stolen by some classmate bullies (and apparently never recovered). Rupert would have been around age 11 (possibly 12) at the time. It is inconceivable that a child could recall enough details from the letters to write a book about them 10 years later.
Continuity mistake: In Alice's apartment the clock on the wall has the time as 8:40 when she is standing and kissing David. They have sex and Veronica comes over. Alice and Veronica talk and the clock still shows 8:40. (01:20:00)
Factual error: Michael boards a commuter train at Grand Central, which then stops at subway stations at 68th Street, 86th Street, and 110th Street along Lexington Avenue. This is impossible.
Continuity mistake: The first close-up of Jonathan's plate shows mashed potatoes in the upper left, "Welcome Home" written in ketchup in the upper right, asparagus sprigs near the center of the plate with the tops facing left, and ham slices below the asparagus. The second close-up of his plate shows mashed potatoes in the upper right, "Home" written upside-down in the upper left, asparagus sprigs near the middle but the tops facing right, and the ham slices still below the asparagus. (They are not mirror images). (00:35:56)
Continuity mistake: Jeffrey downs all his whiskey, but in the following shot his glass is still half empty. (01:35:50)
Continuity mistake: When Willy is in bed looking at photos with the camera behind his ear, his cup of coffee is directly in front of his hands. A moment later when the camera shifts to in front of him, his coffee is way off to his side, nowhere near his line of sight. (01:00:12)
Continuity mistake: In the car at the start, when Hamilton says it's like the fourth blackout today, Michael corrects her and says it's the fifth. When he says this, he is leaning forwards some as he looks up out the windshield with his mouth partly open. It cuts to a different angle and suddenly he's leaned back in his seat fully and his mouth closed. (00:01:30)
Continuity mistake: When Butch is talking to Dawn in his room, he puts on his headphones and begins talking to some unknown being and seems to be in a trance. His head is resting flat on his pillow as he grabs Dawn's arm. Just after she pulls away, Butch's hand is in the position as if he was still holding her. However his head is now resting up on the headboard. He couldn't have propped himself up with his hand in that position, especially in the matter of a few seconds. (00:40:40)
Character mistake: Immediately after the crash, when Reeves is carrying his youngest child Sophie, the actress opens up her mouth, even though she has already drowned. (00:14:43)
Continuity mistake: When Rita is running toward the hanger in a scene that mirrors the first film, she is running on a long wood walkway. In the next shot however, she is on the dirt.
