Factual error: The sign outside Einsargen Prison says "high security area." For some inexplicable reason, the German writing just above reads "Hochsicherheitssteckdose", thus declaring the area to be a high security electric wall outlet. (00:25:40)
Factual error: Halcombe takes a left turn to park in the parking lot of the Army/Navy Surplus store on 4th Avenue. This means he was approaching from C Street, which is a one way street in the opposite direction between 4th and 5th Avenue. (00:15:00)
Factual error: When the lone ranger fires his guns at the train he shoots over 20 times, despite using a 6 shooter. Likewise when Fuller is shooting at Tonto through the roof. (02:06:55 - 02:07:30)
Factual error: When the real Sandy follows the other Sandy after she leaves the hair salon, the other Sandy notices she's being followed and speeds up her car. When she does that, the camera focuses on the speedometer and it shows the date and time, which don't correspond to the time the appointment was supposed to be, 3pm. The time on the clock in the car shows 9:13am and the date is shown as Tue 23 Feb. Further research shows that the last time February 23rd was on a Tuesday was in 2010.
Factual error: At Liberace's funeral, when the priest concludes his prayer, the congregation responds, "And with your Spirit." This response has only been part of the English-language Catholic Mass since 2011. In 1987, the response would have been "And also with you."
Factual error: In a scene where the nightclub singer with the tropical fruit headwear is on stage, she is singing into a classic RCA 77D microphone which is correct for the period, but in a mistake often made in movies that are set in this era, the microphone is wrongly positioned. It is leaning toward the singer when in fact this type of mic is spoken to from the side, not the end. To work correctly it was always pointed away from the singer or placed in a vertical position for side pickup. (01:06:15)
Factual error: When the Millers' RV breaks down and it gets towed by the Fitzgeralds' RV, the two are connected by a tow rope. There is no one in the Millers' RV steering or working the brakes. The RVs would crash into each other the first time the front one slows down, and the Millers' RV would not steer properly to follow the Fitzgerald's. Also, when we see in the Fitzgeralds' side mirrors, we don't see the Millers' RV being towed.
Factual error: At the fair, one of the guys sets some hay on fire and the fire goes to a cage of propane tanks. They begin to explode. The explosions are way too small for full propane tanks. You can tell they are supposed to be full as several shots show the red caps on the valves are faintly visible. The red caps are kept on ones that are full and unused. (00:12:40)
Factual error: When Llewyn is driving back to NYC from Chicago, he passes a couple signs stating that Akron, OH, is at the next exit off the highway, on US Route 80. US 80 passes exclusively through the South, from Dallas to the Atlantic Ocean in Georgia, and doesn't even come remotely close to Ohio. (01:13:58)
Suggested correction: It's Interstate 80, which does pass through Ohio, not Route 80.
The mistake is correct. It's the US Route 80 sign which has black letters on the white shield. An I-80 sign would have white letters on a red and blue shield.
Factual error: David fills his car with gas and puts the gas cap back on, on the driver's side, but the Subaru Outback's gas cap is actually on the passenger side of his car. (00:14:50 - 00:24:50)
Factual error: When Braniac's robot probe enters the atmosphere over Arizona, fighter jets attempt to shoot it down by hitting it with missiles. The pod is still going fast enough to be on fire from reentry. A missile could not have caught up to an object going that fast. (00:11:30)
Factual error: The girls escape down into a storm cellar to get away from the tornado. As the twister passes, it is indicated by just a lot of loud wind sounds and constant shattering glass. This is not at all what a tornado would sound like. As many tornado survivors have stated, one would sound like a huge freight train rocketing down the tracks at reckless speeds, and accompanied by what sounds like constant explosions as it disintegrates everything in its path. Living in Arkansas, I am quite familiar with that sound. (00:16:05)
Factual error: This is set in the 90s, but in one of the scenes at Stevie's house you can see a Goodman AC unit that is a 2006-2011 model.
Factual error: The French Connection is mentioned at one point. This is 1970, and the movie didn't come out until 1971.
Factual error: When Oscar's mother visits him in prison on New Year's in 2007, a mention is made of him having taken his daughter to see "WALL-E", which wasn't released until the summer of 2008.
Factual error: In the beginning of the film, when Nick flashes back to 1922, he mentions that the buildings were taller, and a shot of the Empire State Building is shown. But construction on that didn't even start until 1931. Even the Chrysler Building didn't start construction until 1929.
Factual error: Dewey corners the gang in the wrecked Mystery Machine and pulls out his duster, which a blade pops out of. There is no way that blade could have fit in the duster. The blade is much thicker than the handle of the duster, and it is longer than the handle and the feathers combined. (01:04:55)
Factual error: They inject the infected Brunel with antibiotics to fight the bacteria, however there is no pulse and that means the antibiotic can never spread through the body, as there is no blood circulation.
Factual error: When Jack retreats to the cabin for the first time in the film, he puts a Led Zeppelin record - Led Zeppelin II - and plays the first song on that side of the record, which turns out to be 'Ramble On'. Any Zeppelin fan would know that 'Ramble On' is song number 7 on side B, therefore the needle should have been placed somewhere in the middle of the disc. The first song on that side of the album would be Heartbreaker. (00:33:55)
Suggested correction: Not "any Zeppelin fan" would know this, only those that know the song order on this album.
This isn't a valid correction. You're just nitpicking at the wording of what a Zeppelin fan would know.
Factual error: In the final scenes when Superman is fighting the enemies in Metropolis, even though half the city has been destroyed, the lights are still on in many buildings. In reality, the destruction of a few skyscrapers would be enough to trigger the shutdown of the electric substations that serve the city and all the lights would be off (as happened with Hurricane Sandy).
