Factual error: At some point during the marriage of Juvenal Urbino and Fermina Daza, Dr. Urbino visits Florentino Ariza's office to ask for a donation from Florentino's uncle for a musical charity event. He asks Florentino whether he likes music, and Florentino answers that he likes the music of Carlos Gardel. A few scenes later, the town welcomes the arrival of the year 1900. Tango singer Carlos Gardel was born in either 1887 or 1890, and did not reach fame until the 1920s, so it is impossible for Florentino Ariza to have heard his music before the year 1900, when Gardel was, at the most, only 12 and not yet into singing.
Factual error: In the intro sequence of the movie where they show old clippings and all, the animation part depicting the sep,11 incident seems to be wrong. A plane is shown moving towards the south tower while the north tower stands clear of smoke. In the actual incident, the north tower took the first hit. The north tower in the animation can be identified by the antenna. (00:03:10)
Factual error: The kitten in the Viking scene is long-haired. Long haired cats did not appear in Europe until many centuries later.
Factual error: After returning to the Dursley's after the dementor attack It is dark, this shows again when Vernon puts Dudley in the car. However, the howler from Mathila Hopkirk says that at 6:23pm Harry performed illegal magic. As the side story shows it is a hot summer, it wouldn't get dark until way past 8pm. (00:04:53 - 00:07:20)
Suggested correction: Fairly certain the film was clear that the reason it got dark was because of the dementors, they have the ability to change the weather to depressive darkness.
Factual error: No army flight from Georgia to Iraq would cross central Mexico.
Factual error: The license plate on the blue Ford Taurus is 674-H2T. Format for New Mexico standard issue yellow plates is 123-ABC (three numbers, the Zia sun, followed by three letters).
Factual error: Both the Arsenal and Chelsea supporters in the street scenes wear scarves and jerseys without any club logo or player name, the most generic possible, a little darker than Chelsea's real colors and with odd stripes for the Arsenal's scarves, and there's a whole crowd of them. Licensing issues or other reasons, it looks really phony. (00:57:00 - 00:58:10)
Factual error: Although B. B. Rush's wears the rank insignia of a Specialist and he is addressed as Specialist by his interrogator, all the documentation shows his rank as Private First Class.
Factual error: In the scene showing Septimus swimming underneath the water after having dived through Capt. Shakespear's cabin window, you can see Septimus holding his fighting knife in his right hand. After a stroke or two he lets go of the knife and it doesn't sink.
Factual error: SSgt Gallegos asks Carter what other ammo he has, and he responds 5.65. No such ammo exists - M16/M4 uses 5.56 rounds. (01:17:41)
Factual error: Early in the film, Chris foils a casino shooter, steals a car, and leads police on a high-speed chase through Las Vegas. He has a psychic vision of himself being smashed into oblivion at a railroad crossing, so he knows he must accelerate to 120 mph to beat the train. The camera cuts to a head-on view of the train, and this time Chris goes flying over the crossing, just barely missing the train. Oddly, there are no barricade arms with warning lights at the railroad crossing, even though this train is screaming through an urban area. Additionally, the car is already levitated about 3 or 4 feet in the air long before it ever reaches the railroad crossing, as if it hit an invisible launch ramp. Thus, Chris makes his escape as the train blocks any further police pursuit. We then see two angles of the fleeing vehicle suddenly make a hard left turn down a side street about a block past the railroad crossing. Which is physically impossible. Given that he air-jumped the railroad crossing at 120 mph, Chris could never have slowed down enough to make a hard left turn within one block. It would require more like 10 blocks to slow down to a manageable turning speed, if he could regain control of the car.
Factual error: After they arrive in Sarajevo they are driving through city and are observing demolished city. There is a red car parked behind three woman. That car is Chevrolet Spark (second generation) that was produced between 2005-2009. Film takes place in year 2000. (00:10:25)
Factual error: Although Charlie is apparently in the 'Class of '83', the DSM-TR that he gets from the library is from 1994, and the American psychiatry journals are from 1991.
Factual error: The Mustang used to take Sylvia to her parents at the circus when she escapes is a 1967. The scene is set in 1965.
Factual error: When the Level 2 Sentry gun begins firing, you can see Shotgun shells falling out of it instead of the usual ammo casings. (00:00:40)
Factual error: Text says zero degrees latitude, zero degrees longitude then shows an arctic scene. Zero degrees latitude is the equator. The position is in the Gulf of Guinea off Africa.
Factual error: The Human Torch chases the Silver Surfer into the Lincoln Tunnel at 29:35; the entrance shown is on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River (although they had just been in Manhattan seconds before, they were airborne and could have gotten there from the sky). When they collectively exit the tunnel at 30:01, they are still on the New Jersey side, as evidenced by the toll booth clerk who witnesses their flyby. While both the entrance and exit scenes are physically in the same a place, a large American flag was either pasted into the entrance scene or edited out of the exit scene, creating a slightly different visual element to two otherwise identical landscapes. (00:29:35)
Factual error: The apple from which Amy was cutting a slice in the car in the beginning of the movie is later discovered "planted" by the bathroom sink after the first blackout. At least 2 or 3 hours have passed between when Amy cut the apple and when she finds it by the sink in the room, but the apple hasn't browned at all during this time, when it reality it would have browned within minutes of being cut.
Factual error: At the end of the movie, Pat is watching a news report about John Lennon's death, which is intercut with scenes of Darby making preparations for his fatal overdose. Darby died almost a whole day before Lennon's assassination.
Factual error: When the girls talk at the beginning of the movie, they can fully hear and understand each other even when they are at massive distance from the webcams they are supposedly using to communicate.
