Continuity mistake: As Dalton stands inside the bank vault staring at the cash, the scene jumps from a wide, distant shot, to medium, to close-in, just outside the cage. Another robber stands just outside and between jumps his gun position shifts from relaxed to raised to relaxed again.
Suggested correction: Whilst this is true, I don't think it is a continuity mistake. It looks to me like it is intended to suggest the passage of time between each of the three shots.
Continuity mistake: Watch the newspapers on the front of the bus when Mos Def is getting off. At one point there is a big hole and you can see out, but in the very next shot a newspaper is covering it again.
Continuity mistake: When Clouseau parks in front of the ministry of justice, he breaks the hood of two police cars. A few shots later, when we see him entering the building, only one of the cars is broken.
Revealing mistake: When Eric Matthews is smashing his foot, he hits it the first time and it shows a close up. If you watch the small amount of blood when he hits it again they have used the same shot. (00:04:00)
Revealing mistake: In the disco scene, the DJ is playing music, but the Pioneer decks and the DJ Mixer are not even turned on, as no lights are showing.
Deliberate mistake: In the parking lot at the horse track, the old cars are so huge, they don't fit properly in the tiny modern spaces. They are hanging over the backs of the spaces so badly that the drivers would only have about two feet to try and get their enormous cars out of the spaces.
Factual error: As the two fast boats start heading up river towards the finale shootout, one boat has its navigation lights reversed. It has a red light on the starboard/right side, and a green light on the port/left side. It should be the other way around. (The lights on the other boat are correct.)
Continuity mistake: There's a scene with a woman dead on the floor, in most of it her left hand is down and her right is at her mouth. But, in the last shot where she is seen, her left hand is at her mouth and her right is lying out away from her head.
Factual error: Louis Simo gives his son an Etch-A-Sketch while taking him to school, and later when Louis stops by to see his son at his ex-wife's house, his son is playing with the Etch-A-Sketch in his bedroom. Both incidents take place in the summer of 1959. George Reeves died June 16, 1959, hence the investigation. The first Etch-A-Sketch toys were produced on July 12, 1960 and Ohio Art launched the toy in the United States in time for the 1960 holiday season.
Continuity mistake: When Ellerby attacks the guy for not installing the cameras in the right place, he knocks off a map from the board. A second later Ellerby is still going after him, and the map is fixed.
Factual error: Text doesn't actually move up a screen, it only appears to; it's really only blinking lights. As such, the improvised scanner wouldn't work, you'd only get a small slice of each line.
Continuity mistake: In the fight scene at the party, Jake gets hit over the head with a bottle and he has blood on the top of his head. It changes constantly throughout the fight. It disappears totally when the fight is over. He has no blood anywhere on his body.
Continuity mistake: The cookie Calvin rubs all over his body only has raisins on the top left of the cookie. When the grandfather picks it up they are neatly in the center: not the same cookie.
Continuity mistake: When Ryan Reynolds is between the two hospital beds, preparing to pull the plugs, there are three wires he grabs to our left (two white and one black). He yanks all of them out (along with another white one to our right) and no plugs remain in the red outlet cover on the wall. But in close ups, as the other agents are banging on the door, we see the lone black wire is still plugged in. (01:40:15)
Continuity mistake: In the morgue scene, the coroner states that Elizabeth Short had a wound inflicted on her right hand, but then in the pornography scene, she grips the bed post with her left hand.
Continuity mistake: When all of the dancers are preparing for the showcase dance, Nora walks in with hair that has her usual bounce. When she and Lucy are talking in front of the mirror, her hair is almost completely straight, sporting just a few slight waves. When Tyler approaches her backstage, her hair is extra curly. It has only been a few minutes, and there was not enough time for her to have curled it. This is confirmed in the commentary.
Continuity mistake: In the scene on the roof after the power transfer, Hannah falls through the sky light and Matt yells down to her. You can tell the close-ups on Matt were re-shot because Matt's hair is longer and styled differently in between shots.
Revealing mistake: The money that the two gang members are counting in the opening view of the hotel room scene is obviously fake. Notice how white the bills are, when they should be greener and have more of the random anti-counterfeit features. (00:02:00)
Continuity mistake: When Felicia and Brenda run into Lorraine behind the Armstrong homes, Lorraine pushes between them and walks a few steps. In the next shot, when she turns to say, "You stay away from my child," she is suddenly in Brenda's face, but in the following shot she is about ten feet away when she resumes walking. (00:48:30)
Continuity mistake: At the very beginning of the movie, when Kim Basinger is in the bedroom and walking towards the mirror, the movements of her reflection do not match her movements. She stops moving and her reflection continues to move. (00:04:25)
